11/10/2024: The owners and staff are very welcoming at Bergerie de E Capanelle. Excellent plate of charcuterie, excellent evening meal like breakfast during my visit on September 7 from Vizzanova. An unmissable place when crossing Corsica on the GR 20 which offers many solutions for spending the night outdoors, as well as indoors at the gîte. Reservation outside PNRC.👈 Once again, thank you for your welcome.👍

10/10/2024: Good pizza. Kitchen opens at 12 and not a minute before. There is an abandoned, vandalised refuge up above the gite but there is no one there the gîte seems to have completely replaced it.

20/08/2024: I had the €20 menu with starter, main course and dessert. As a starter I chose the salad with warm goat cheese. Good choice! For the main course I chose the grilled sardines. Also great! And for dessert, vanilla/chocolate ice cream. I'm more prepared for disappointment when it comes to ice cream in a restaurant, but not here! Today was a completely delicious lunch at a very good price. And with a view of the sea. Thank you, dear Santa Maria team!

30/09/2024: Probably the worst experience in Bastia of our stay. We weren't able to come the last time we came to Bastia, but at least we'll know not to come back. We arrived for the 2nd service at 9 p.m. because we had requested a table at the edge of the terrace to enjoy the view. The tables were not ready so the waitress decided to place us at the edge of the sidewalk (we were not in a hurry though)... The service was chaotic, the waiters were running everywhere, almost jostling us, the tables were so close together. Not even time to drink our aperitif as the dishes were already arriving 5 minutes later. We barely stayed 40 minutes because the atmosphere was so bad, dessert was taken elsewhere. What can we say about the €25 burger… the food is passable and the prices are very high for what they are. This restaurant is only in search of extreme profitability now that the glory is acquired, move on there are much better in Bastia!

19/09/2024: Very very friendly little restaurant, very well received (it's very pleasant) and the food is delicious. With a magnificent terrace, unfortunately it was a little cool to enjoy it but inside it is just as beautiful. A very nice surprise, thank you!

30/10/2024: We ordered a beer and a water syrup. We didn't look at the menu, and surprise, the water syrup was almost €6. I think they took us for Americans lol. The terrace is not comfortable.

23/10/2024: No hassle! Calm street atmosphere, sandwiches and board at the level with good bread and a good bottle of Aleria Rouge. Come and test between 2 visits

14/09/2024: While passing through we stopped at this restaurant and we do not regret it. Very warm welcome. Hearty and excellent meal with beautiful presentations. Stop here, we recommend it.

20/10/2025: Hamburgers were OK. There was not too many places open on Sunday night after 20:00 in this area especially if you want to sit indoors (they have a few bar tables and chairs inside). They seemed to have quite many delivery orders so other people in the area seem to be using them as well. They only have soft drinks, e.g. no beer. Service was kind and they even offered some frenchfries on the house (additional star on service for a nice gesture).

17/10/2025: I really enjoyed it; the burger was really good! Great atmosphere, the staff is really nice and welcoming. They even offered me a coffee for dessert. I 100% recommend this restaurant. 😋

30/09/2024: I used to like it but that was before!! What to say??? .. all it took was once... in response to the question when you are served your cutlery “how are you?” » , I dared to answer, (discreetly) that I was disappointed, and that despite everything I had still eaten everything, it wasn't inedible either! My god, what did I not dare to say!!! It was then that once the bill was paid, the boss started screaming, flaunting himself in front of all his customers, making a scene worthy of an extra in a remake of La Cage aux Folles!!! Probably thinking of showing myself, a failure, remaining Olympian calm and with a smile, it was so hilarious! I would have thought I was in a prank, a hidden camera really!! Sir, a restaurateur, a real one, comes to meet his customers and seeks to understand the reasons for his disappointment in a discreet way and to discuss it and not to make so much cinema!! . If you do not accept the comments, do not ask whether everything went well!! In addition, when we display the prices that you apply, we expect quality in all areas (services, dishes, etc.) I don't come to pay for the frame otherwise I have a picnic on the beach! As you shout so well, there are other establishments along the way, and reading other negative comments, this seems to be your favorite defense argument. Tell yourself that if I had known in advance that I would have been so disappointed, it is obvious that I would have gone to eat elsewhere! As for the little seasonal worker, although polite (by the way, not the brightest bulb in the garland) he seemed to be amused by the spectacle offered by his dear boss, laughing stupidly. Also remember to tell your waiters to be a little more discreet... the one who clearly expressed his joy in front of us (euphemism of course) seemed not very happy about a reservation of several places that he was going to have to assume and who did so really sweat (to stay polite)… In addition, given the state of the sanitary facilities (absence of soap, filthy hand dryer, hanging cobwebs, the ramp for PRMs let's not talk about it....), we can also ask ourselves the question as to to kitchen hygiene! A whole bunch of reasons and circumstances which mean that I clearly would not set foot in this establishment again and that I absolutely no longer recommend.

21/09/2024: Everything was perfect! The idyllic setting, the delicious cuisine 👌🏼 the brilliant music playlist 🎶 we loved it! We recommend it to you. Nothing to complain about.

16/09/2024: The food is good, nothing to complain about. On the other hand, lately the service has been in sharp decline... even unpleasant. This evening for example everything was going well when during payment, the waiter, thinking he was funny, told us to have dirty glasses, to have Alzheimer's and to lose our minds while we rounded up the bill to the next higher per person.. in short, very inappropriate towards the customer and very unpleasant. This will unfortunately be the last time, although the meals are good

15/09/2024: Conosco il ristorante Santa Maria da diverso tempo e si conferma un’eccellenza di Calvi. Situato sotto la cittadella, si caratterizza per un’atmosfera accogliente e piacevole. Favoloso il polpo alla mediterranea piatto forte del menù del locale. Eccellenti anche gli spaghetti alle vongole. Ottimi i desserts. Consigliato.

01/09/2024: Plats très bon et copieux. Seuls les beignets de fromage en entrée ont été une fausse note. La pâte à beignet est farineuse et prend le dessus sur le fromage qui n’a pas de goût. Tout le reste était impeccable et c’est une très bonne adresse.

06/12/2024: Actually, we should have listened to our gut feeling when we entered and not sat down at all... We are French speakers and have been going on holiday to Corsica for years. This experience was “humiliating.” Feeling like a guest (unless you are probably Corsican and know the patron?) is not a nice experience. There's probably no point in writing this review because the man of the house, the way he acts towards strangers, doesn't care about other people's opinions. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our food but not because the kitchen couldn't deliver. No: we were simply ignored. Of course we complained straight away. And then we should have gotten up and left... when we finally got to place the order, both dishes weren't available (yet) because the season hadn't really started yet. Conclusion: we once had fish with no side dishes (luckily there were delicious pizza rolls) and once we had a large, delicious portion of pasta with salmon. Since this experience, one question has just stuck with me: What motivates someone in the catering industry to work on a tourist beach when that person obviously has a problem with tourists? There are so many really cool pailottes in Corsica, you can easily ignore this one. By the way, the beach is very little visited (beginning of May) and the location of the Pailotte is very nice.
