Go to Café Court, opposite of this place - people there seem to have fun.

23/11/2025: For my part, the meal was very good, the welcome was nice, just the accompanying portion was very minimalist, a small dish of crushed mashed potatoes and a small dish of sautéed potatoes which for me was the value for one person and we were 6 adults plus I found it very expensive.

The set lunch menu—starter, main course, and dessert for €18—is no joke; it's delicious, satisfying, everything we love.
And of course, there's the staff: kind, attentive, and helpful…
I highly recommend this little slice of the Basque Country.

For a Sunday, the atmosphere was lovely and the restaurant was quite busy. The waiter was very pleasant, funny, and immediately put the customers at ease.
The tapas were delicious, the prices were reasonable for the quality, and the ordering system was very original and convenient.
A place worth discovering; we'll gladly return!

29/07/2026: We went in for a few beers at the bar; we weren't planning on eating. We asked the bartender, and he said we'd have to wait five minutes while he finished serving. It seemed reasonable since he looked busy. After a few minutes, we saw he'd finished and asked him again, but he told us we'd have to wait. After 15 minutes at the bar, we saw him go back into the dining area and start cleaning tables and tidying up. He ignored us, and we left without being served. I hope the fact that we're Spanish didn't influence his decision.
26/07/2026: I first learned about Xarnegu some time ago through the novel "The Smile of Magdalene," which includes some scenes set in this charming village of Bidache.
I finally went back, and today I returned during the Santiago Festival. I loved it and highly recommend it!

18/05/2026: Very disappointed with this meal. The asparagus starter was undercooked, the fish was a small fillet of sea bream served on a bed of peas and broccoli, cold as if straight from the fridge, and the dessert was simple: three tasteless strawberries drowned in industrial whipped cream. All this for €48 per person without wine.
