07/07/2026: For our daughter's surprise birthday party, we chose Papaye. They gave us excellent advice. The managers are very welcoming, friendly, and attentive to their customers. The cocktails are excellent. The platters are a real treat. A fantastic DJ who created a great atmosphere. A big thank you to the whole team for your warm welcome and professionalism. 21/07/2026: The mussels marinière were okay, but not a generous portion for nearly €18. The piece of meat was good, but the Roquefort sauce was runny and not enough. A glass of Sancerre cost €6.90 and was NOT good at all! In short, two dishes, a beer, a Coke, and a wine came to €56.90 because of an error on the bill—an extra drink not ordered. Not bad, but overpriced. That's probably the place; we won't go back. The service was friendly, and the waiter was nice.

12/07/2026: We had an amazing experience at Le Bouchon Tourangeau in Tours. Before coming, we saw some negative Google reviews, but our experience was completely different — this place was wonderful! The atmosphere truly brought us back to the spirit of a classical bouchon-style restaurant: warm, authentic, and full of character. The menu offers great choices of entrée, plat, and dessert, with traditional flavors done very well. We started with the escargots, which were served hot, beautifully fragrant, and absolutely delicious. The beef bourguignon was the highlight — the beef was incredibly tender, and the sauce was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The steak with frites was also excellent. We enjoyed a nice selection of wine that paired perfectly with the meal. The staff were kind and attentive. They may not be the most expressive with smiles, but their service was efficient and thoughtful — we never had to wait, and every staff member made sure we were well taken care of. A great place to enjoy authentic bouchon-style cuisine in Tours. We highly recommend Le Bouchon Tourangeau and would happily come back again!

19/01/2026: This is an informed review following a disastrous experience at this "brasserie." The restaurant boasts a pleasant setting and an attractive storefront, but that's where its appeal ends. The menu offered few dishes, which often suggests homemade cuisine, so we were initially confident. We ordered three appetizers: a kidney puff pastry, a spinach and goat cheese tart, and a country terrine. Our main courses were three duck breasts with orange sauce (an extra €3) and sliced ​​beef with pepper sauce. We also ordered a floating island dessert, a San Pellegrino, and two glasses of St. Nicolas de Bourgueil. The result: a rather spicy puff pastry, a relatively greasy terrine, and a tart replaced by a quiche Lorraine (which was also very salty). We mentioned this, and were told that the chef hadn't informed us. Next up: the duck breast was sinewy and quite tough (a sign of poor quality), roughly sliced ​​lengthwise, and the orange sauce was nonexistent; instead, there was a jar of some kind of stock with leftover shreds of meat to which small pieces of orange had been added. And the side dish was something I'd never seen before: potatoes, lentils, and carrots. A complete mismatch. As for the sliced ​​beef, our daughter ate absolutely nothing, just the salad. The beef was overcooked (resembling boiled meat), and there was no pepper sauce as promised. Faced with this litany of errors, we put an end to the carnage and cancelled dessert. Finally, they don't accept Connect holiday vouchers, only the paper version. The bill came to €95.70. Change the chef or call in Philippe Etchebest… when there’s nobody in a restaurant, you have to ask yourself some questions… (the bistro was taken over under a lease agreement in January 2025, from what I’ve seen)

13/08/2026: I agree with Anne Marie's review, which I unfortunately hadn't read before going in. Skip this cold, tasteless place and stop at the next bakery, which is larger and where you'll receive a warm welcome and the products are excellent, both the bread and the pastries. There were four of us, and no one else in sight, given the heat. So, no time to pamper customers, but none of that! We must not have looked good enough for these ladies, pffft...

06/08/2026: I regularly stop by during my cycling trips for a coffee and a pastry; I'm never disappointed. I highly recommend the custard tart (one of the best I've ever tasted), but also, from time to time, I get a pain au chocolat (a delight) or a coffee éclair (extraordinary)... unfortunately, I can't try everything... thank you for your very high-quality work (it's rare these days)...

07/09/2026: They didn’t speak much English, which actual made me very ashamed at my French! But they whole place and locals where lovely. It was a 30 degree day and we all sat inside. The staff and locals where lovely even with limited English, would recommend to anyone x

14/08/2026: The waitress was absolutely lovely, just perfect: pleasant, a kind word for everyone, and quick service. She even adjusted the tables to be moved to the shade and everything. Truly top-notch! We'll be back, and very often.

18/07/2026: I love it! I discovered it by chance a few years ago, and it's a must-stop on every holiday. Excellent old-fashioned brioche, top-notch.

03/06/2026: It's impossible to visit the center of Tours without stopping by this brioche shop. The smell of brioche wafting out onto the street is divine. The taste is incomparable.

17/08/2026: A roadside diner with a set menu of main course and a buffet of appetizers and desserts. It's not gourmet cuisine, but that's not what you expect in this type of restaurant. I tried it on a Sunday lunchtime while on the road for my vacation. It was great to have a restaurant open at a good price. Since it was Sunday, I think there were fewer choices on the buffet than during the week. The food was good, though. The quality/quantity/price ratio is decent. However, I didn't see any vegetarian options. The staff was friendly. There's a slightly retro atmosphere if you like that sort of thing. The tables are close together. The TV was on (not a big fan). In short, it's simple, quick, efficient, and reasonably priced.

07/08/2026: Honestly, avoid this place! I'm crossing every prayer I have that I don't get sick. The starter wasn't fresh, the main course was uninteresting, and the dessert was terrifying.

22/04/2026: First and last time here. Little explanation of how it works, unfriendly saleswoman, and in the end, expensive for just a wrap.

03/04/2026: I really like this place in the evening, and now they also serve hot dishes in addition to their legendary build-your-own salads! I chose a large porcini and boletus mushroom soup and Bombay chicken as my main course, and it was fantastic!

16/08/2026: Beyond the lack of warmth, smiles, and friendliness, the pastries are absolutely dreadful. My sweetheart bought me a mille-feuille, thinking he was treating me. The result: a sort of mountain of lumpy, overly sweet cream, and a pastry that was anything but flaky. At €5 a pastry, it's blatant robbery. This is the second time we've come (just to give them a chance, after all), and it's always the same nightmare. So, honestly, don't judge this bakery by its facade because inside, the waitresses are absolutely appalling, and I would use the same adjective for the pastries. They're making a killing off customers who will end up disappointed! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

16/07/2026: A fantastic brasserie I stumbled upon. Pleasant atmosphere, really nice decor (even in the restrooms). They only offer daily specials on a chalkboard menu, using fresh ingredients. Everything is homemade. A real treat! 😋

21/08/2026: A very pleasant welcome. The food was simple but good. We had the daily special, crispy chicken thigh, which was cooked perfectly. We could taste the spices and even ate the skin, which was wonderfully crispy (personally, I never eat it!). The price was really reasonable, less than €14 for the dish! Plus, the lovely shaded terrace was a real plus! Thank you and all the best!

21/05/2026: On our way back from Gironde to Yvelines along the main road, we stopped at this restaurant by chance, one of the very few open on a Monday along that route. We had a very good lunch there, with a starter, a main course, and a coffee for under €20 per person. The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. The welcome and service, provided by the same person, were very professional and friendly, and the portions were quite generous. Frankly, a great stop, especially on a Monday when many restaurants are closed, not to mention that there are very few along this main road.
