09/07/2025: A wonderful stay at Le Grand Monarque! Everything was perfect, especially the friendly and helpful staff. And, the location is great - restaurants etc in town are easily walkable. I highly recommend this lovely hotel!
07/07/2025: We stayed 1 night in the hotel Le Grand Monarque while traveling. It is located in the middle of the quiet village on the Indre Azay le Rideau, within walking distance of the castle of Azay. The room was comfortable, spacious and very clean. Beautiful bathroom with excellent shower. Slept very well in the excellent bed. Although the hotel is located in the middle of Azay, it was very quiet at night. Well-kept breakfast and friendly, smooth service. Very friendly staff. You can park your car for €7 in a closed, uncovered parking lot. Our congratulations to the management and the team!

07/09/2024: Mycket god pizza och utmärkt vin. Servicen mycket bra. Fina uteplatser på gågatan precis bredvid slottet. Kanske en aning trångt som det kan vara på turistorter.

17/09/2024: Plus points, they looked after our bikes very well
Our room was on the fourth floor and there was no lift.
Breakfast was chaotic, no one seemed to be in charge and they kept running out of food. They promised gluten-free food which turned out to be dry crackers.

01/12/2024: Les incontournables friandises d’Amboise pour se faire plaisir entre 2 visites : à emporter ou sur place, tout est bon! Le chocolat chaud maison à l’orange, une tuerie! Les oursons en guimauve, les tartelettes, goûtez-tout!

Serveurs souriants, certes, mais pour la patronne, faudra repasser.
30 mn d attente pour se voir servir une quiche à rechauffer et une assiette de fromages. Achat du caramel beurre salé au comptoir. Insipide. Sans saveur
Repassés plus tard car les enfants voulaient une glace. J'avais envie d en manger une mais...pour les adultes....pas de cornet possible !!!! Allez savoir pourquoi... Ca m'a passé l'envie !
Bref...déception.

22/08/2024: We have gone to this restaurant two years in a row on our holidays and it is absolutely fantastic. The food is excellent, best in the area. A must visit, Gregory is a very sound man!
15/08/2024: Big disappointment for our lunch in this hostel which is nevertheless listed in the Sésame guide.
We waited 1 hour for a bottle of wine so we could toast the appetizers offered. The service was unprofessional and very disappointing.
We had to get up to ask for drinks and food, despite the few customers present.
The dishes were not very tasty and served in small quantities. The chocolate cake was not one of them.
We will not return to this inn which does not offer service and food that matches the prices displayed.

06/12/2024: Too bad you can't give me a 0/5. I have rarely seen this in fast food even abroad. How can you miss cooking a Dominos pizza? I plan to pay extra for the delivery but the delivery man has no notes other than cents. I order from the app but it's my fault according to the manager, I should have told the delivery man how much he had to take and who maybe even knows how to fill out his pay slip. HONTEUX from HONTEUX. The manager's solution? Give him €50 and he brings me the change later, that’s obvious. Welcome to France in 2024. Avoid at all costs, horrible customer experience because of course for a service of this quality you will have to wait 1 hour.

13/09/2024: Un endroit romantique à souhait.
Une cuisine de qualité et des desserts délicieux qui revisitent les standards avec brio. La présentation des plats est à la hauteur du goût.
Nous avons passé un moment merveilleux et avons apprécié la gentillesse du personnel qui reste courtois malgré l'indelicatesse de certains clients.
Le tout pour un prix plus que raisonnable.
12/09/2024: Havre de paix au milieux des jardins, c est vraiment agréable de déjeuner dans cet endroit si élégant.
Acceuil professionnel et souriant. Malgré un manque de personnel nous avons été très bien reçu.
Pris le brunch ( merci les commentaires des autres internautes 😉)
Plateau copieux, avec petit beurre demi sel pour la charcuterie, confiture cerise pour le fromage. Bon rapport qualité/ prix.

04/07/2025: Big disappointment... Food ok, nothing more. Service far from overflowing with friendliness. I really felt like I was annoying the waiter by asking him what was on the menu without alcohol. Prices are rather high for the quality of what we eat, we are clearly paying for the setting which is pleasant. Waiting time suuuper long after ordering! I do not recommend at all... :c

I work every day until 7 p.m. I will never be able to collect my package.
It's shameful, don't relay packages if it's a chore.
I do not recommend the welcome, not even a goodbye
02/12/2024: I went to pick up a package, very awkward, stared at from head to toe, asked for a QR code which we didn't receive and returned the packages after 3 days. I don't recommend it at all.

14/12/2024: It’s a shame… me and my family came on Saturday December 14 at noon and what a disappointment! Between the dishes which took 40 minutes to be served cold :/ and the cruel lack of care given to the vegetables and starchy foods it is, once again, a shame. I think there is real work to be done, both on the friendliness of the staff in charge of the grills and the general operation (the pagers are obviously having synchronization problems). I wish you courage knowing the difficult economic situation of the brand. I would be sad to see it disappear, so please do what is necessary to restore this image which continues to deteriorate.

14/12/2024: This restaurant is to be avoided....more than an hour of waiting to be served an unfortunate burger, which arrives with greasy, barely cooked fries and two salad leaves without a drop of sauce. And same problem at all the other tables, waiting +++
And not even a word to apologize for the wait.

07/12/2024: On a family outing after visiting the castle's Christmas decorations, we sit down for a drink. Two kyr without syrups when requested, same for beer and diabolo, no syrups.
Well so far not so bad.
My partner paid once we were served.
Only 20m later, once we had left, we were approached twice as if we were thieves and had left without paying.
Proof of payment requested.
Only to realize their mistake. Ashamed !
Little advice: when you kindly come for a drink (without syrup) remember to remind them that YOU PAID.
20/10/2024: Excessive price for an unrecommendable quality of ice cream and Viennese chocolate. We do not recommend this terrace.
