14/01/2026: What a disappointment! I was really looking forward to discovering this restaurant in the center of Caen. I showed up without a reservation on Tuesday, January 14th at 12:45 pm for lunch. Many tables were free, including several small ones for a maximum of two people. The person at the entrance refused me entry to the restaurant on the grounds that I was alone and they didn't have a table for one person... I find this refusal unprofessional. I came to eat, not just have a drink. Are people dining alone considered pariahs? Not interesting enough to be served? I live in Honfleur and regularly eat out, even more so since I became a widow. I spend a considerable amount and always leave generous tips. I don't understand such a refusal.

29/11/2025: First experience at La Briquerie, so renowned in the area. An evening organized with the company's employee committee. A very pleasant evening, the food was top-notch, a perfect balance between the "basic" fare you usually find and something a bit more "gastronomic." The aperitif was quite generous with some fairly classic but effective canapés, followed by a superb little prawn gratin as a starter 🤌🤌 and a typical Norman digestif 😉. Then came the main course: a potato gratin that melted in your mouth, so perfectly cooked you couldn't even taste the potato slices 👌. For the meat, a "piece of beef" with a mushroom sauce. The sauce was excellent, and the texture of the meat was perfect, but the beef flavor was barely perceptible for someone who loves meat. However, with the sauce and the gratin, you quickly forget this minor "detail." The cheese platter was quite basic, typical of restaurants (at least Norman ones 😉), accompanied by I didn't try the salad, but the dressing didn't seem great based on what I heard at our table. As for dessert, no complaints except for the really, really good ice cream (if the owners happen to see this, I'd love to know the name of the ice cream or the supplier, haha, unless it's homemade 👌). All the dishes were beautifully presented. The portions might seem small at first glance, but overall they were just right 👍. I'm only taking off one star for the ambiance because throughout the meal I felt the background music wasn't quite in keeping with the theme of the evening (but that's just my opinion). Overall, I highly recommend this place! Speaking of the venue itself, there isn't much designated parking for this type of event, so when you're among the first to arrive without knowing the layout, you're not quite sure where to park. As for the hall, it's very spacious, with a bar that's well-proportioned to the size of the room. The sound level is quite good, and the lighting is pretty decent, but could be improved for a dance party. I'd add a couple of RGB lasers and a smoke machine, especially since you can now find these kinds of machines at very reasonable prices without going for professional event equipment. A "small" budget of €2,000 to €3,000 would be more than enough for the equipment, including the DMX controller. Finally, the fireplace is fantastic, perfectly suited to the size of the hall and visually very appealing. However, since the hall is relatively well-insulated, it gets quite warm quite quickly, but that's also a matter of personal preference. In any case, it's not unbearably hot, so it's definitely a good option compared to other venues that struggle to manage the temperature. from the room. Well, there you have it, I think I've said everything, not necessarily in the right order though, but at least it's a first-hand opinion 😉
