29/11/2025: First experience at La Briquerie, so renowned in the area. An evening organized with the company's employee committee. A very pleasant evening, the food was top-notch, a perfect balance between the "basic" fare you usually find and something a bit more "gastronomic." The aperitif was quite generous with some fairly classic but effective canapés, followed by a superb little prawn gratin as a starter 🤌🤌 and a typical Norman digestif 😉. Then came the main course: a potato gratin that melted in your mouth, so perfectly cooked you couldn't even taste the potato slices 👌. For the meat, a "piece of beef" with a mushroom sauce. The sauce was excellent, and the texture of the meat was perfect, but the beef flavor was barely perceptible for someone who loves meat. However, with the sauce and the gratin, you quickly forget this minor "detail." The cheese platter was quite basic, typical of restaurants (at least Norman ones 😉), accompanied by I didn't try the salad, but the dressing didn't seem great based on what I heard at our table. As for dessert, no complaints except for the really, really good ice cream (if the owners happen to see this, I'd love to know the name of the ice cream or the supplier, haha, unless it's homemade 👌). All the dishes were beautifully presented. The portions might seem small at first glance, but overall they were just right 👍. I'm only taking off one star for the ambiance because throughout the meal I felt the background music wasn't quite in keeping with the theme of the evening (but that's just my opinion). Overall, I highly recommend this place! Speaking of the venue itself, there isn't much designated parking for this type of event, so when you're among the first to arrive without knowing the layout, you're not quite sure where to park. As for the hall, it's very spacious, with a bar that's well-proportioned to the size of the room. The sound level is quite good, and the lighting is pretty decent, but could be improved for a dance party. I'd add a couple of RGB lasers and a smoke machine, especially since you can now find these kinds of machines at very reasonable prices without going for professional event equipment. A "small" budget of €2,000 to €3,000 would be more than enough for the equipment, including the DMX controller. Finally, the fireplace is fantastic, perfectly suited to the size of the hall and visually very appealing. However, since the hall is relatively well-insulated, it gets quite warm quite quickly, but that's also a matter of personal preference. In any case, it's not unbearably hot, so it's definitely a good option compared to other venues that struggle to manage the temperature. from the room. Well, there you have it, I think I've said everything, not necessarily in the right order though, but at least it's a first-hand opinion 😉

16/05/2026: A wonderful experience! We were a group of seven, and the owner managed to find us a table. The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch!

28/03/2026: Passing through Deauville this morning, we were tempted by the shop window, so we went in and bought two vol-au-vents and a slice of rillettes. Given the prices, we trusted the quality, but the rillettes were greasy and tasteless, and the vol-au-vents tasted of nothing but puff pastry and sauce. So, very disappointed to have spent money on such mediocre quality. A tourist trap.

There's a crucial difference: the land belongs to the city of Caen, unlike in Deauville. Consequently, Mr. and Mrs. Morel and Mr. Durier have very little room to maneuver. 23/04/2026: For my first dinner in Caen, choosing this restaurant was a happy accident, and what a happy accident it was! A warm and friendly welcome, excellent value for money. The dishes were fresh and generous. And a big thank you to the owner for providing the apron.

BUT THE WINE (from the European Union) IS NOT GOOD...!!! NEEDS TO BE REVISED In addition, they organize an annual (early December) wine tasting evening with an Alsatian winemaker who sells some very good wines there....

19/05/2026: Having moved across the street, I was recommended this pizzeria. And honestly, the pizzas are excellent. The prices are more than reasonable. The owners are so friendly! I highly recommend it. My favorite is the Normande, and I recommend it 100%.

05/06/2026: A warm welcome. A sirloin steak...a delight! An excellent gourmet coffee. The three girls and Saphir were friendly. Not to be missed. We highly recommend it.

30/05/2026: Dinner for five last night: mussels and fries with Camembert sauce and Isigny cream. The presentation was original, and I much prefer the cream served on the side. They even adapted the dish to accommodate my daughter's lactose intolerance, which was very kind of them. The service was quick, and Nicolas and his colleague were very pleasant and friendly. We had a very enjoyable evening. I wish the whole team a wonderful summer season.

24/05/2026: We were very disappointed by this restaurant. The prices are completely excessive compared to what is served. Given the prices, we expected much better quality. In the end, the food was very disappointing, reminiscent of basic cafeteria fare.

03/05/2026: No opinion on the hotel itself, but a major disappointment with the restaurant. We received a friendly welcome and were told to choose a table. We started to sit down, then were told we had to change tables because ours was already reserved. We put the napkins on our laps and realized they weren't dry. We mentioned this to the staff, who brought us more, which were also damp. We asked if it was possible to have paper napkins, and were told they weren't sure if any were available, but eventually, some were found. The menu wasn't very appealing to me; I would have expected more seasonal fruits and vegetables, like asparagus and rhubarb. We were told the wine would be brought to us and that someone would come to pour it, but no one came to pour it during the entire meal. The bread and butter were good. The scallop risotto was mostly made with scallops, and the spelt was too cloying for my taste. The crème anglaise on the floating island dessert was good, but the meringue, which was supposed to be light and airy, was dry and too dense. When we wanted to leave, the door was locked, and we couldn't open it. It took several minutes for a staff member to come by and help us. The staff seemed well-intentioned but simply not up to the task. We have stayed here before in the region (we also stayed at the hotel) and are disappointed to have had this negative experience. We hope this return visit will prompt some self-reflection.

25/04/2026: Had a coffee & hot chocolate Saturday morning with the locals. The staff speak v. Good English. Had to call back & sample the local beer & cider. Food looked good but didn’t eat. Very pleasant sat beside the harbour in the sunshine. Thank you
