18/02/2026: A very good lunch spot, popular with regulars and locals... the menu is simple, high-quality, and family-friendly, changing daily (regulars come every day). The chef has managed to retain the touch of Ramuntcho, the former Basque chef and owner... and that's a good thing! The service is efficient, friendly, and cheerful. The cuisine has a market-fresh, southwestern flair.

10/04/2026: The welcome was appalling, which ruined the atmosphere at the table! We simply asked for an extra place setting at our table for four, politely (with "please" and a smile), only to be snapped at with "I know, 2 seconds, I just got here!"...charming! And the service was so rushed, with plates being cleared almost as soon as one of us finished, resulting in constant and untimely turnover. As for the food, the mussels and fries were good, as were the pizza and desserts.

31/12/2025: The welcome, food, and atmosphere were all very average. The waiter was almost rude and started badmouthing other customers as soon as they left.

24/04/2026: A 30-minute wait for a glass of wine. I had to call two servers and go to the bar to finally get what I ordered. The server didn't apologize and just shoved the bill down my throat as if I had no business being there. In short, very disappointed with this place.

23/04/2026: We went there today. Very reasonable price considering the location, very friendly and welcoming waiters. The mussels in cream sauce with Pineau des Charentes were excellent, and the sirloin steak was succulent and a generous portion. I highly recommend it. We'll be back when we're next in La Rochelle.

05/04/2026: I came yesterday at lunchtime with my daughter. Very nice. Good food and very pleasant staff. The setting and decor are also lovely. It was my second time and there will definitely be a third!

31/10/2025: The owner is unpleasant to customers. He treats them like idiots. Avoid at all costs. The ice cream is bad and expensive for what it is. I have to give it one star; it deserves zero. They claim we're mistaken about the establishment when we give them a bad rating. Not very professional.

24/10/2025: We ordered two cappuccinos at this restaurant. The waitress was friendly; we had no complaints. However, we received two Viennese coffees, with industrial whipped cream and sock juice, for the hefty sum of €5.50 (so if it's good, we think it's okay, but when it's undrinkable, it still hurts a little). So, before leaving, we politely explained to the manager that the drink we ordered wasn't the one we received. To which he replied, "Oh yes, they're cappuccinos. Here we make them like that, and if you're not happy, you should have asked how we make them." We had absolutely no intention of causing a fuss, but hey... the recipe for a cappuccino is the same everywhere, you shouldn't take people for idiots, so we told him. He told us to get rid of it, along with a slurred tone.

19/04/2026: We had lunch on the terrace, which is truly lovely and a definite plus for the restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by several factors. Firstly, we were significantly bothered by cigarette smoke from neighboring tables, which made the experience rather unpleasant. Secondly, the service was quite slow, and the quality of the food didn't impress us: it was adequate, but nothing special, and below our expectations. In short, a nice setting but an overall disappointing experience considering the service and the food.

18/04/2026: First and last time. A set menu with salted pork and a chicken dish. I was sick as soon as I left the restaurant. The salted pork wasn't fresh and hadn't come straight from the fridge. I had to go home and cut my visit to Rochefort short. AVOID. UNRELIABLE.

All served on the terrace in a magnificent setting. An address to remember for a perfect end to your meal! ✨

23/04/2026: A must-visit when I'm in La Rochelle. A lively, warm, and cheerful atmosphere, perfect for a meal with family or friends on one of the city's most beautiful terraces. Generous and authentic brasserie cuisine, served with a smile. I'll definitely be back.

07/04/2026: We stopped for a drink in the afternoon and ordered three Vittel mint waters served in glass glasses (very nice), a Monaco (served in a reusable cup), and four scoops of ice cream, also served in reusable cups! For a bar/restaurant, serving drinks in these types of containers is really disappointing and unprofessional. The person with curly hair was smiling and clearly enjoyed their job, unlike the others!

05/04/2026: A small, local bistro that, unfortunately, is nothing special. I ordered their burger, advertised at €18, a price I find clearly outrageous considering the quality. The meat was really poor, and to my great disappointment, the burger was served without cheese... And to accompany it all, you get simple frozen fries. Paying €18 for frozen food and a bland dish is truly excessive. I strongly advise against this place; it's a pure tourist trap. Keep walking.

23/04/2026: Thank you for this menu advertised as "homemade"... when, on the plate, everything seems to come from industrial products. It's frankly disappointing and misleading. Even the fries are frozen—it's hard to call it homemade under these conditions. A little more transparency and honesty towards customers would be truly appreciated. An experience to avoid in its current state.

27/11/2025: It's so nice to relax at Cargo, the owners are lovely, and the service is very professional. We love it! We keep going back and are never disappointed.

07/04/2026: The wait was long for one Mojito and two beers! 45 minutes! They need to anticipate events that bring in a lot of customers! (Lots of young people are looking for extra work.) But the wait was worth it! Sunshine and warmth were perfect!

20/04/2026: Passing through the area last night, I received a very warm welcome—smiling and friendly. I enjoyed a delicious meal with a view of the port. The food was simple but good. Blankets are available if you're feeling chilly. I would definitely return on my next visit.
