17/06/2026: During my bike ride from Nantes to Mulhouse, I left EV6 and stopped at La Thaliette. There, I found the kind of traditional cuisine I'd dreamed of for my journey: not a snack, not heavy, and perfect for fueling my efforts. I had fish on a bed of tender zucchini, a strawberry salad with ice cream. Definitely a "seasonal meal." Over roughly 1000km, it was, for me, the best meal suited to my needs. Proof of this is that I stopped there again on my return trip, also by bike, for trout with polenta and strawberries. I was so engrossed in the meal that I almost forgot about the efficient and attentive staff. And kudos to the chef!

12/07/2026: Make a reservation for this delightful experience! 'La Doubs' itself is worth a visit if you're boating the Saone but this restaurant was the highlight of our stop. We were lucky enough to get seated on a Friday evening and had great service (and entertainment!) from Robert and his team. I ordered the Pochouse, which was out of this world. We shared frog legs (excellent) and the crawfish flan (not my fave, but others loved it). Great wine selection and the locally (very local) made whiskey mixes are absolutely worth a try. We regretted not buying a bottle! Thank you Le Caveau team!

11/07/2026: I feel honored and lucky to have docked our boat in Verdun-sur-le-Doubs, otherwise we would have never found Le Caveau! Robert and his staff clearly understand the power of family & food. When you arrive you’re greeted as if you dinning there weekly for years. As you open the menu they share which farms all their meats, cheeses and vegetables are sourced from. The menu is thoughtful, fun and sophisticated and has something for everyone, including vegetarians. The meal was a journey of classic French cooking with some fun twists on modern styles. All four of us could not stop bragging how good our dishes were. Now for the best part of our experience. Robert and his staff make you feel like family, creating laughter, smiles, full bellies and memories. They truly love what they do, and make everyone feel like their home. Merci, Merci, Merci!! Le Caveau is a must visit if you’re in the area!

High quality regional food carefully prepared by competent and engaged chef; pleasant and welcoming service and a delightful ambiance. Excellent value for money. As a long-term local I'll be delighted to revisit soon.

07/07/2026: If someone had told me Philippe Etchebest would still have so much work to do, I wouldn't have believed it... The first waitress was pleasant, but the second didn't even say hello, just "I'll take your drinks and food orders, ladies and gentlemen!" He was clearly in a rush... An American pizza suddenly made perfect sense, arriving smothered in oily fries covered in sauce, only to find undercooked white ground beef. I asked for it to be cooked properly, and the pizza came back overcooked, but still not the meat... The crust was as hard as wood. As a result, I didn't eat a thing... And to top it all off, I paid the full bill... and the manager's response was completely absurd. Change careers!!!

19/07/2026: A very good place. Welcoming and friendly staff. A wide selection (both savory and sweet), which might seem overwhelming, but everything is well-executed. We certainly enjoyed our meal. We'll be back very soon.

24/07/2026: Like its neighboring counterpart, this restaurant offers excellent value for money with a no-nonsense €25 menu that will satisfy your taste buds. Thank you for not being a tourist trap. The staff is also very pleasant.

22/07/2026: There isn't a huge selection, but this is more than compensated for by the carefully prepared and presented food and dishes, in a charming and welcoming setting. Relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very kind and discreet. Great experience!
