17/10/2025: A nice, rustic cabin in a beautiful location. The rooms are a bit dated. They could use some improvements here and there. The outdoor dining area, right by the street, is noisy. The food is good. The staff is friendly. Breakfast is adequate.

24/09/2025: For us it is always a pleasure to stop at the Napoleon refuge, I can no longer count the number of times we had a drink there while soaking up the scenery with the small lake and the Col de Vars.🏔️⛰️ In summer in 🏍️ or in winter snowshoeing at the Vars resort nearby.

25/05/2025: The welcome is very warm, the place magical and unique, surrounded by nature, overlooking the Durance Valley. The dishes are always original, from the region, with fresh and seasonal products. It's a true experience for the eyes and the taste buds. I highly recommend it.

07/04/2026: A bit disappointed with the experience because selling New Zealand lamb when there are farmers all around isn't cool! As a result, the lamb shank wasn't great, overcooked, and the mashed potatoes were more like purée… a bit mediocre. Otherwise, the welcome was very warm and friendly, but they should really focus more on homemade/local/short supply chain products. A shame…

17/04/2026: I was really disappointed by the food! It's not worthy of a chef; even an amateur could do better. I ordered octopus and vegetables, and everything was completely tasteless! The octopus was barely grilled, and don't even get me started on the vegetables, which seemed to have come straight from a freezer bag and were barely lukewarm. I asked for them to be reheated, but it still wasn't right! There was absolutely no seasoning (no salt, pepper, garlic, or parsley!). The octopus was like rubber (it must have been microwaved!). So I didn't order dessert! I hope the manager will take my feedback into account for improvements! I don't usually like to criticize Italian restaurants (I'm of Italian descent)! My husband ordered a Milanese cutlet with pasta, which wasn't great either! I hope the pizzas are better!

30/03/2026: We were looking forward to discovering this restaurant in La Grave for a nice evening with friends. Upon arriving a little early for our reservation, we were met with a rude awakening: the waitress told us to wait outside (in the snow) with all the politeness of a prison guard. Returning a few minutes later, we were seated. The same unfriendly waitress, visibly exasperated by even the slightest question, took our order. The raclette arrived, along with its side dish. A pleasant surprise: everything was very good. However, we were subjected to unpleasant service throughout the evening, which really spoiled the experience. We won't be going back. What a shame! The setting and the food were worth it.

22/03/2026: Although we hadn't made a reservation and all the restaurants (including this one) were fully booked that evening, the owner managed to accommodate us by finding a solution. In the end, we didn't regret being turned away elsewhere, as the evening was such a success! It's a friendly, family-run establishment with a very pleasant, down-to-earth atmosphere. The raclette was excellent and, above all, very generous. For dessert, the French toast-style brioche was initially offered with salted caramel, but the chef kindly agreed to serve us homemade chocolate sauce at our request; we greatly appreciated this gesture. A very good address that we will definitely remember for our next visits to Vars.
