07/11/2025: Under new ownership for the past year. New layout, decor, and equipment. A very warm welcome from the entire team, and they were very attentive. Unbeatable value for money in Machecoul. Plenty of choice. A touch of history and a touch of magic. Located on one of the highest points in the area, the restaurant "La Croix Verte" sits at the crossroads of historical sites in Machecoul. *To the right of the entrance, the beginning of the Roman road to Fresnay-en-Retz. The village of Sainte-Croix (Machecoul didn't exist at the time). *A few meters away, the old church of St. John the Baptist and, before that, the first fortified wooden castle in Sainte-Croix. "And the road leading to Sainte-Pazanne towards the Saint-Lazare estate. This green cross was the emblem of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus (11th/12th century). The Order of Saint Lazarus still exists for humanitarian work. Several military orders were present in Machecoul from the 11th century onwards (Saint Lazarus/The Hospitallers/The Templars)."

21/11/2025: This is a fantastic ice cream shop (the best around). If you're on vacation here and want to enjoy some delicious ice cream, crepes, etc., this is the place. They have so many choices that you'll want to come back to try all sorts of things... there are tons of different flavors, it's really great! Plus, the service is wonderful, and they were incredibly kind and immediately offered to give our dogs water. A really lovely time with the family, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

28/11/2025: A flawless experience at Le Pilote restaurant! A superb discovery: the €49 menu is a true delight from start to finish. The amuse-bouche is delicate, the six warm oysters absolutely excellent, the main courses (fish or meat) are expertly prepared and flavorful, and the dessert was simply heavenly. Warm service, pleasant setting: a must-try in Les Sables-d'Olonne!

11/01/2026: I do not recommend this restaurant at all, although it is well located. The quality of the meat was not good; I asked for it rare, but it arrived undercooked, and there was also an odor. The meat was not good, and the starters were not hot.

16/11/2025: We went there the weekend of November 11th with friends and, as usual, it was a real pleasure... The dishes are always well-prepared, with fresh ingredients, the atmosphere with the owner is always pleasant, in short, a real pleasure to return to.

15/01/2025: Without doubt one of the best restaurants for couscous or tagine in the department, or even in the region. The welcome may be familiar. Choose a good table because the room is small and you can easily find yourself in the passage. It's easy to ask for a "doggy bag" because the proportions are generous. Reservation recommended.

18/09/2024: Nous avons eu du mal à trouver un restaurant qui ne soit pas crêpes ou burgers et sommes tombés par hasard sur cet endroit surprenant par son accueil, générosité (amuse gueule pour mettre en bouche, nappe en tissu, ramassage des miettes avant dessert) et le plus important : plats succulents,(même le pain est délicieux ) et bien présentés. Nous avons été ravis de notre choix . À conseiller.

07/02/2026: A truly wonderful discovery: this "annex" to the adjoining three-Michelin-starred restaurant run by Alexandre and Céline Couillon. Luckily for us, as La Marine hadn't yet reopened for the season, we had the chance to watch the chef and his wife at work. We appreciated the warm welcome, the quality, kindness, and simplicity of the service, the perfect charcoal grilling, the attention to detail in each dish, and the exquisite flavors… A truly delightful experience, without a doubt. A tip: reserve a table at the counter to admire the ballet of the kitchen brigade as they whirl about in a meticulously efficient choreography.
