06/12/2025: A fantastic find! This place truly deserves to be talked about. In Saint-Arnoult, at the Bistrot du Grand Manège – the restaurant at the Pôle du Cheval (Equestrian Center) – everything is homemade, the food is generous and delicious, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is impeccable. The owner took over the establishment in January, and you can feel his passion in every detail. Excellent value for money. A real gem.

12/05/2026: The Hotel Restaurant Le Normand is a charming hotel, tastefully and carefully decorated, and very quiet. The bedding is of very good quality. Well located near the beach, a 3-minute walk away. Several shops and the market are nearby. The staff is attentive to its guests. The daily specials are varied and generous. If you would like to try teurgoule, you can enjoy a dessert that won first prize at the 2026 French Championship. 🎖 We were very happy with our visit and will return.

07/05/2026: We had a lovely meal with friends at Le Normand, enjoying a very pleasant atmosphere: the servers were very friendly, the food was excellent, and the decor was great! We highly recommend it :)

16/05/2026: We had a wonderful family birthday celebration (thank you for the lovely touch from the very friendly waiter). The setting was pleasant with a sea view. The cuisine was varied and excellent. I highly recommend it.

01/05/2026: Friends recommended this place. Never again. The setting is lovely, in a famous hotel, with a view to a beautiful meadow. But. The welcome was already cumbersome as the person receiving us had a strange attitude, with a twist of arrogance. Either he lacks passion in his job or basic hospitality skills/training. Unfortunately he was our main server as well. The food, an embarrassment. Tiny portions and really really so basic. Just look at the pictures of the veggies and rice. Both no taste, rice glued into chunks. Even the French fries. Looked ok, consistency nice but no taste. It wasn’t a question of salt. They had no taste. And then the bread - what a colossal miss. Very basic white little breads, in a country that prides itself with amazing bread culture. In this place. It’s completely out of touch. The most I regret are wasted calories for a below mediocre meal.

02/09/2025: A brilliant local eatery discovered thanks to Google maps, we would never have stumbled across this place but so glad we did! Beautiful and reasonably priced set menu, lovely atmosphere and really authentic french eating experience. Highly recommend. Top tip: order the Kir Normand apertif.

08/03/2026: We were about to go in for lunch, then the owner came out to change the menu display. Not a hello, he simply complained about the other customers, with a haughty and disdainful air… we went to eat elsewhere 😉

06/03/2026: We ordered chicken as a main course and found pork cheeks on our plates without any warning before or after. The portions were rather small. I'll pass on this place next time.

15/04/2026: I drove past this place two years ago, and made a mental note to visit. Drove past it last weekend and fulfilled my wish. After many years in France, and many fish and chips meals, this is the BEST I've ever had here. Simple decor but with food like this, you don't need extravagant soundings. Estelle and Ben were really friendly and a joy to meet. My kids and I had fish and chips obviously and were not disappointed. The only place I have been to, offering both brown sauce AND malt vinegar as condiments! A true rarity. My partner (Normandy origins) was very happy with a burger topped with camembert. Finished the meal with a sticky toffee pudding, again a joy and rarity to have. If your British and want a true taste of home, stop by here. 25/03/2026: Discovered by chance, this restaurant has become our go-to spot whenever we're in Caen for medical appointments or during difficult times. The welcome and service are top-notch, even when the restaurant is full. The chef, who can be seen working in the kitchen, consistently demonstrates his talent by updating the daily menu and offering well-prepared dishes in generous portions. In short, a place to remember, where reservations are recommended and the staff is efficient and friendly.
