30/08/2024: On the way back from our vacation, we stopped for lunch. The welcome was pleasant but that will be our only compliment. Dish of the day: homemade mayo fried sausage, what a disaster! The fries were black, I refused them. My wife accepted them but wondered if the cooking oil was changed regularly? The sausage was tasteless and let's not talk about the homemade mayo... for dessert it will be useful to review the recipe for a crumble, the dough on top is not made only of sugar. Of course my comments were made to the boss before writing my opinion, you have to know how to listen to criticism, something that the boss did not accept. However, I wish you good luck.

07/09/2024: On the roads of Sologne, late for our destination, we resigned ourselves to having dinner on the road. And we saw Le Beauharnais. Throughout the whole experience, we asked ourselves “but where are we? ". Everything was excellent, surprising and traditional. Wahoo!!! It is even still at the table that we are writing this comment. We're going to get back on the road. We are even further behind but not very important because we have already had a great time!! 29/08/2024: Les Closeaux is a gem of a restaurant in an unassuming cluster of farm style buildings near Amboise. The food, ambiance and service outshone some M-starred restaurants we visited. My appetizer, a caramelized tomato on a bed of tomato aspic accompanied by Gorgonzola ice cream, expertly paired flavors and textures. Husband had the fois gras ( I know, I know, but this is France). Creamy, slightly saltier than the norm, in a good way. My tuna was perfectly medium rare, with a flavorful sauce. His beef was also cooked perfectly medium rare. Desserts included an extraordinary rhubarb tart. The wine list featured local varieties, including a moderately priced Chinon red that blossomed in the glass. This is the stuff restaurant dreams are made of. Don’t let the short drive from Amboise deter you: Google will get you there and back. Dinner for two, including two cocktails, a bottle of wine, and dessert, was about €130, far less than almost any dinner in the States.

24/06/2025: We had a wonderful birthday meal. The dining room is elegant, warm, and refined. The atmosphere is both intimate and refined. The staff deserves a special mention: smiling, pleasant, and attentive. The service is impeccable without being intrusive. The food is simply excellent. The dishes are refined, flavorful, and perfectly presented. For an experience of this quality, the price is more than reasonable. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

22/06/2025: So we went back as a family in August 2023 for our daughter's birthday. We had four gourmet menus for €45, including a starter, main course, dessert, and aperitif, along with two bottles of wine: a Quincy and a Chinon de Cracant les Coteaux, both very good, and two children's menus for €15. We again enjoyed the dishes and ate on the patio. For starters, I had very good natural cooked French foie gras or a light velouté, followed by a main course: sliced ​​beef, or for me, very good kidney and sweetbreads, or pike mousseline. Dessert: red fruit gratin, financier with apricot, and for me, a chocolate fondant off the menu and two coffees, all for €305, really good value. We returned in June 2025, 4 menus at €42 2 menus at €15 1 bottle of Lalande Pomerole red wine at €42 all for €284. I arrived annoyed because 45 minutes late road closed to Chambord for the concert. The welcome and the menu delighted me as usual. Very fine tasty menu and in a magnificent setting the patio. Thank you for this very good time. For me one of the best restaurants in the region.......

06/11/2024: We spent a weekend with family (19 people) in a cottage near Pontlevoy. The Auberge de l'École provided the catering service with high quality and carefully crafted seasonal products. The implementation was facilitated by very clear and precise instructions. We were able to devote ourselves to sharing family moments without worrying about stewardship. These good times continued during meals. Thanks again - a very good and beautiful house.

Des amuse-bouches au dessert (.... en passant par le petit-déjeuner), quantité, qualité et présentation, tout est parfait !! Les mets sont raffinés et délicieux, les propriétaires particulièrement sympathiques et au petit soin, et tellement agréable de dîner sous les arbres, les pieds dans l'herbe. Et nous n'oublierons pas d'adresser nos félicitations à la jeune serveuse.

15/09/2024: A very good restaurant in Saint Aignan, even the best if we take into account the setting, the service and the price. We go there regularly, several times a year, it's always good. The evening menu was €48 for Starter, Main Course and Dessert, with appetizers and sweets. We will return again and again.
