22/05/2026: I'm delighted to have discovered this haven of peace a few months ago. The owners are also so charming and attentive. I commend their availability and kindness. The place exudes serenity within its historic walls. It has so much charm, easy parking—everything suits me perfectly. Thank you again.

05/05/2026: The setting is very beautiful, the interior charming, however, a huge disappointment at lunchtime. The service was a bit rushed, and we were told it was homemade when it wasn't (the poached egg in red wine sauce was watery, the risotto was undercooked and swimming in butter). Not great for an Italian restaurant. Coca-Cola was served by the glass, which is against the rules (€4 a glass and flat), and to top it all off, the chocolate fondant was reheated in the microwave. A bit pricey for the mediocre quality. I don't recommend it and I'm very disappointed.

19/07/2026: We discovered a small shaded terrace and simple, generous, and tasty cuisine... the products are fresh and of high quality, with a warm welcome.

09/07/2026: We arrived just before closing time, and what a delicious dinner it was today! The steak and pasta bolognese were delicious, and even though we didn't understand a word, the service was top notch! Highly recommended!

02/03/2026: Not disappointed at all, quite the opposite! Excellent cuisine, fresh produce, the ribeye steak (a real treat), the desserts (to die for!), the homemade aperitif was very good. There were six of us, and no one was disappointed. I don't regret my choice at all; on the contrary, I highly recommend it! 😉😉

26/07/2026: We found ourselves in a simple, unpretentious restaurant. The food was excellent. The owner's kindness is his defining characteristic. The atmosphere was rather subdued, as I imagine the place only really comes alive at lunchtime, which was just fine; eating in a noisy environment isn't my cup of tea. We'll be regulars.

24/07/2026: An excellent restaurant that we highly recommend! The welcome is always warm and the owners are incredibly kind. The food is excellent, the portions are generous, carefully prepared, and always delicious. I recommend the homemade beef samosas, which are delicious, as well as the fried chicken, the chef's specialty: a real treat! Don't be put off by the decor: the real highlight is the food, the quality of the ingredients, and the service. If you're looking for a good restaurant where the food is excellent, go for it! You'll have a wonderful time. We'll definitely be back.

27/04/2026: Passing through Montceau In my top 3 tea rooms visited A beautiful place blending rustic charm and a touch of magic, perfect for families or couples. This kind of tea room deserves more recognition. Judging by some of the reviews, I must have just caught them on a lucky day.

28/04/2026: This lunchtime, a group of 9, we were all very happy with our meal, whether we chose the set menu or the Perron menu. The hanger steak was very tender, and for dessert I had a chocolate fondant with a scoop of ice cream – absolutely delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was lovely. We'll be back!

26/04/2026: Delicious ice cream! They serve it in the afternoon, which we really appreciate. The service was friendly; if the server had been there more often, we would have ordered more. We like to have a drink first, then browse the menu, order again, and maybe another drink. The interior is very cool, and the terrace offers a great view.

10/07/2026: We were very comfortable on the terrace facing Cluny Abbey. A minor drawback was the presence of flies and other flying insects (a trap was in place, but not enough). The service was very pleasant and friendly. It was good.

11/07/2026: A very cozy place in winter, the decor is so inviting that you feel like you're in the mountains, not to mention the incredible selection of fondues... you're in for a treat. In summer, the atmosphere is completely different. The terrace is large and shaded, and this restaurant, nestled in a verdant setting, is a little slice of paradise for a meal with family or friends. There's ample parking, the food is delicious, and the staff is fantastic! I highly recommend it.

The dishes were generous, delicious, and prepared with high-quality ingredients. The setting is beautiful and very convivial, with an atmosphere that makes you want to come back.

02/05/2026: My wife has an amazing memory. Checking my records, we had first stayed here in 1981 and then again in 1986. Some things such as the old farm implements she said had not changed. I had no recollection, but when I checked I had a contact noted with the old less pompous address – lieu dit rather than General de Gaulle. Finding the motel and restaurant was not a problem as it was well signposted off the main road into Macon. The lane past ranks of Tesla chargers was not prepossessing. However, after that the entrance to the desk in the old building was obvious. Thence to the motel part. Not an architectural 1970s splendour but very practical. Odd. Instead of parking next to the units the French park a distance away on the other side of the road. The rooms are perfectly serviceable in a functional way. Their pleasure is that there is a terrace to each and that looks straight onto the Soane river flowing past in it’s limpid way. A few metres distant and with nothing except nature and a footpath in in-between. On a beautiful sunny day little could be more atmospheric. If there is a material downside to the rooms and their age it is the bath. Perhaps when built that was thought to be a necessity. Now a short tub which is extremely, and I mean extremely, hard to get in and out of would be much better replaced with a shower. Perhaps not an over costly renovation and one which would save the owners money in the long run. Otherwise, it might be 2* but it is all more than perfectly adequate. Especially with the view. To which add a very decent continental breakfast. Not included in the reasonable room rate. What is not 2* is the restaurant. It is exceptionally good. There may not be massive choice, but that is irrelevant. What is on offer was delicious. Both the food and the wine are also sensibly priced. That you are a captive audience is not exploited. One can not only eat indoors but also on the terrace overlooking the fields and the river. OK, if you are picky the proximity of the A6 does create a bit of background noise. No doubt wind direction dependent. However, the proximity to the A6/A40 junction is an added convenience. We loved it. This time unlikely to wait another 40 years to return.
