14/08/2026: Ravioli daube gratiné is to die for! Staff is very friendly, the service is fast, and everything is delicious. Perfect lunch option if you are in the area. For their plat du jour, it’s best to make a reservation otherwise they may run out. Reservations are not necessary for the regular menu, but it is a popular spot and fills up quickly.

21/08/2026: I read all of the previous reviews and was exciting on going but was I was surprised at the “ pushy” server . I noticed a table next to us walk out as they felt the vibe and decided to leave after they were told that they did not order “ enough “ . I have to say I ( we) managed to get past the aggressive/ pushy behavior to still enjoy our evening . It is a-shame as the restaurant is perfectly located and has a nice authentic feel plus the food was outstanding. We shared the the shrimp / lobster appetizer which was tasty and beautifully presented . I had the octopus which was to die for and my wife had the lamb which was outstanding . We had the wine that our waiter “ pushed “ which was on the higher end but very good . Again, I want to emphasize if you are expecting a welcoming warm experience then Franchin should not be your choice . If you can look past that and just focus on the food , you will be fine .

19/08/2026: Booked a table for 8pm on my last night in Nice. Sat down, ordered a beer and a Coke (the Coke was to have with my meal), and only then was I told the two dishes I’d come for were sold out (2/3 of the meat options, at the beginning of evening service…). Nothing mentioned when I booked, nothing when I was seated. Since the Coke hadn’t been touched and I’d only ordered it to go with food, I asked if they’d take it off the bill, to be told ‘If you order it, you pay for it.’ Kitchens run out of things - that is fine. But not telling anyone until they’ve sat down and ordered, then arguing over a soft drink isn’t great. This is about principle, not money. Paid up and (very luckily) managed to get a reservation elsewhere.

11/08/2026: Having eaten there on Saturday at lunchtime as a couple, I highly recommend it! It was absolutely delicious! The manager is really lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

12/09/2026: I went a little after 8 in the morning, and a long line formed quickly. Warm baguettes and friendly staff. It was nice that they greeted me warmly. You can also order a half baguette. The outside was crispy and the inside chewy, and it was slightly salty.

25/09/2026: Nice restaurant with great food. The night we came there was a live pianist which was amazing! Very friendly owner, great service. We will come back 👍👍🏼👍🏼

22/09/2026: Two delightful evenings, both for the food and the location. The view from the terrace is a feast for the eyes. The food is a feast for the palate. Local cuisine, prepared with care and quality. The courtesy of Fred and the staff is enhanced by Catelijne's live piano performance. Not to be missed!

18/09/2026: Sat down for a busy lunch, fully recommend making a reservation beforehand. You get a real sense of history and legacy dining in the space. The focaccia topped with caramelised onions and anchovies was particularly delightful. The gnocchi and lamb stew dish was also a great choice. The vegetable soup was quite standard but offered the opportunity to taste something simple.

18/09/2026: As a tourist, I naturally wanted to try the local specialties. The beef and liver weren't very good, but the sauce was quite unique. The crème brûlée was ridiculously sweet, thankfully the pine nuts added a nice touch. The restaurant's location in the basement wine cellar was actually quite special, and the atmosphere was nice, but the waitresses were really grumpy and rude! I noticed they were all hostile to other customers, which was really outrageous.

28/09/2026: Pretentious cuisine… There's no need to put cake in crab tartare or tomato in seafood sauerkraut!

28/09/2026: The restaurant is aging, the chairs are badly stained, the aquariums are empty, the decor is dated—everything is worn and needs updating. The food isn't too bad, but it's a bit pricey. Nothing extraordinary, all in all.

24/08/2026: Stopped in for a couple of drinks before dinner and had two Amaretto Sours, both consistently and perfectly made. A little on the pricier side, but you absolutely get what you pay for. Quality cocktails, great atmosphere and the perfect pre-dinner spot!

19/08/2026: Excellent bar, friendly service, and my cocktails were amazing... I've rarely had such a good mojito.

06/09/2026: What a joy to be back in the market atmosphere! Strolling here and there. The holidays were fantastic… but it feels so good to be home. Returning to my beloved Old Nice, taking another walk down Cours Saleya in the morning, among the flowers, the seasonal stalls, and the wonderful aromas. A still-warm socca, a few words with the regulars, familiar faces, all those little Saturday morning get-togethers, those cheerful smiles… and there we go again, just like the first day of school! 🧡 😉

04/09/2026: The aromas of the spice stall are unmissable, as is a bag of Socca while strolling.

03/10/2026: It's pretty good! But nothing particularly amazing. It feels like a restaurant that mainly caters to tourists!

29/09/2026: Absolutely amazing meal. I had seabass and my husband had lamb chops and both were delicious. The lemon meringue pie was superb. Highly recommend this restaurant, a very talented chef.

15/09/2026: A very friendly welcome by all of the staff. The food was delicious, we both had choices from the specials board, the deserts equally good and all the portions were very generous. Service was excellent and we loved the traditional french interior. All in all we were really pleased that we chose Le Saetone
