26/09/2024: More than disappointing. We were expecting a menu cooked by chef Philippe Rostang, which is why we chose this address, but that was not the case. We saw him but he was not the one who cooked our meal. The chef prepared us a menu unworthy of the name. Starter with hard-boiled poached eggs and reheated and semi-cooked mashed potatoes, crunchy to the bite with an iron taste! The main course was no better with a 3 cm thick 1/3 strip of nerve and fat accompanied by a cold onion fondue. And what about dried and reheated new potatoes. Dessert was the best, pistachio cream with vine peach purée. We signaled our dissatisfaction. The chef did not deign to come to meet us. The very nice and embarrassed young waitress gave us a discount on desserts. This does not change the fact that we will not return to a restaurant that calls itself "bistronomic". Find the error

26/09/2024: We ate there for lunch during our hike. Great welcome from the hikers even though we had the impression of being all dirty in the beautiful setting of the restaurant 😅 Very good cuisine, very attentive service, calm and soothing atmosphere and neat decoration. We highly recommend it.

22/04/2025: Gastronomic experience at Bistrot Klam, or how to transform a meal into a comedy sketch. My colleague orders a burger, he receives an abstract concept: nothing between two nothings. Probably a metaphor for existential emptiness. For my part, a minimalist plate: fries so few that I could count them without using all my fingers, two peas lost in the middle, probably in political exile, and a price which seemed to include heating the room. The fries were frozen, limp and cold as if they had taken a detour through the Arctic before arriving. In terms of service, let's say that the smile and the hello must have been extra... Too bad, I didn't take the option. If you're looking for a place to go on a crash diet, explore the concept of a "theoretical dish", or just throw your money out the window with style, you've come to the right place. Three stars: one for the laughs on the way out, two for the storytelling. For the rest... fasting would have been more nourishing.

18/08/2024: The savory pancakes were good although I would have appreciated more filling in the pancakes to benefit from a dish more suited to my desires. For the sweet crepes, we took the apricot crepe of the moment, it lacked caramel for my taste and the apricots were slightly dry… About the room, the service was very good. The toilets could do with cleaning as there were large cobwebs. From the outdoor terrace, the view of Volvic and the small massifs is unmissable. 24/01/2025: It’s okay for the price! On the other hand, it takes longer to get fries, the toilets are dirty,… in short, ok for eating quickly and hot only.

25/08/2024: Attention Remarkable place! When quality and know-how come together like a bygone era before ugly modernity. Pleasure of the senses, taste, sight. Absolutely delicious food with a divine knight shadow. Restaurant like a museum of tradition. It’s even difficult to understand everything. Traditional room with its faults which make up its qualities. Royal breakfast! My only regret: having arrived in hiking gear, I would have liked a jacquard jacket and a top hat for example… I will definitely come back and don’t hesitate for a moment, it would be a waste of time….

15/08/2024: Visit this hotel before these types of hotels die out with their staff. This hotel cannot be put into the classic star rating grid. It's not about how many towels you have in the bathroom or how long reception is manned. It's about an authentic experience in an old building. Every part of the building shows its past. It is winding, built over centuries around the city wall. Something has been added there, something built in there. The owner is a unique character who puts his heart and soul into running the hotel (and cooking?). Try the menu in the evening. Just be prepared for what's on offer. It will be very tasty. The service is also part of the setting. Simply immerse yourself in a different hotel world. It's worth it. And please don't be so negative. You can also go to a Best Western where everything is standardized, but please don't complain about this gem, which is completely different.
