17/08/2026: Tasteless food! No skill whatsoever in cooking the duck. The mashed potatoes were definitely inedible. Thankfully, the service made an effort to be pleasant, and the terrace was very nice. But it's a restaurant, so that's not everything. To be avoided at all costs. Following your response: We sent back both duck breasts, and we also pointed out that your mashed potatoes were rancid… our daughter had already eaten without us, so we settled for the second duck breast to avoid any awkwardness. Your waitress even confirmed that your waiter had tasted it and that there was indeed a strong acidity from rancid butter or oil. Your team was very lovely, but I'm sorry to say your food might satisfy a passing clientele, but it doesn't represent good, simple cuisine. Fortunately, the setting is lovely.

14/08/2026: The restaurant is well-located and looks pleasant at first glance. But what a disappointment! The service is inconsistent; we were served a bottle of water without opening it. We called a server over to take our order, and another waitress made a comment, saying, "What's with these manners?" As for the food... the squid was tasteless and frozen, the salads had a lot of lettuce and very few toppings, and the ingredients didn't match the description. In short, avoid this place.

29/01/2026: I'd like to share my experience at this bar; I came to the Cock and Bull with two friends who were ordering drinks (important for later). Since I couldn't afford it, but still wanted to spend some time with my friends at a bar, I didn't order any drinks there. The beers are €8, which is understandable in the city center, but way out of my budget that evening. So I brought my own beer without thinking to ask permission, and I admit that was a mistake! I'm fully aware of it! However, one of the waitresses' reactions was completely disproportionate. She snatched the drink from me, spoke to me very aggressively, poured the beer on the floor, then crushed the can before leaving with enormous aggression and disrespect. I completely understand that a bar might refuse outside drinks, but there are ways to say it. A simple reminder or a ban on drinking would have been enough. Her attitude made me extremely uncomfortable and shocked other people around me as well. It was a huge scene and ruined the evening, even though everything was going well. It's all the more unfortunate because, apart from this incident, the bar seemed really cool: the atmosphere was good, the other staff members and customers were very friendly, and there was a good selection of drinks and food—no complaints there! The problem clearly wasn't with the establishment as a whole, but solely with this waitress's behavior, which is truly problematic. Thanks :)

07/09/2025: A young, helpful, and dynamic team. Friendly chance encounters with international students are made possible by the warm atmosphere of this establishment. It reminds me of my 20s. Bravo, young people!

18/04/2026: Regular customer, but since the change of ownership, the portions have drastically decreased. And to top it off, the chef told us, "If the meat is small, it's because it shrinks during cooking." LOL, they treated us like fools! Never again. Not recommended for big eaters.

18/04/2026: I was very disappointed with my experience. I ordered a butcher's cut that arrived tiny. The waitress, who was very kind, offered to replace the plate, but the cook sent another piece even smaller than the first! The service was good, but the kitchen showed a lack of respect for the customer. I won't be back.

09/06/2026: We were just passing through town. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. But if you're a wine lover, don't hesitate to go inside. When we entered, the waitresses were very welcoming and offered excellent wine recommendations. The interior ambiance and decor are superb. The meal was delicious and generous. I highly recommend this restaurant.

27/06/2026: What a huge disappointment!! Today, Saturday, June 27, 2026, we, two ladies on vacation in Bordeaux, wanted to go to this French restaurant. We read everything online beforehand; opening hours were from 8-10 pm. So we were there at 8 pm, a 15-minute walk in 32°C heat, looking forward to our meal. But the large wooden door was still locked at 8:15 pm. So we called the phone number posted on the door. An unfriendly man simply said, "We're closed on Saturdays," and hung up! Now, at 10:30 pm, I checked the restaurant's Google page again, and suddenly it says: open from Wednesday at 8 pm. Before, the opening hours were clearly stated for Saturday and Sunday from 8 pm. This is no way to treat potential customers! This was very frustrating; we will NOT be going back to this restaurant and will not recommend it to anyone. B.T.

18/07/2026: We just left this restaurant, which we stumbled upon on our way back from vacation. It was perfect. The service was very efficient and energetic; it was lovely to see so much enthusiasm. The food was delicious, simple yet satisfying, using quality ingredients. Elena and Elio loved their burgers but really didn't want to do the dishes ;)

11/07/2026: Excellent service, the waiter was very friendly and attentive. We ordered four breakfasts of coffee with milk and chocolate bread, which were delicious and very reasonably priced. We highly recommend it. We will definitely be back.

20/06/2025: Hello, I came on Sunday afternoon, June 15th, to buy two gifts at the store at 34 rue St. James. I'm writing to you because I'm very skeptical... and very jaded... When I went through the checkout, I clearly stated that I needed two gift packages for two birthdays. They showed me a nice pink and white package, which I paid for, but they had already charged me. Then, oh no, finally, if it's for two different little girls, Okay, let's separate the gifts. The first, a kind of transparent white envelope... the saleswoman apologizes, okay. The second is a mug in a square package. She takes out a brown envelope, puts the package inside—which is too big for the envelope—cuts off the top, and puts a sticker inside. I'm perplexed... I honestly allow myself to say to her: "Well, it's average, it's for a little girl's birthday, it doesn't look very birthday-like and the package...is a bit ugly, you know"...(without malice, with a little smile, tilting her head a little to the side and inviting her to think, that kind of attitude) At that, she, very offended, tells me that I'm mean, that it's not nice at all of me...that she's going to the extra trouble to make me this package and that she doesn't have to do it... (No kidding??? Should I have gone into raptures???) And insisting several times, without listening to me, that I don't want to give it like that, nor in front of other mothers. At one point, I got annoyed when the young lady retorted that, and I quote: "Generally, people come to us, buy a gift, then go to h**a to buy some gifts and make their own." At that point, her colleague arrived and took over, which I thought was great. But she decided to side with her without listening to me either. Tired, I asked for a refund. In the end, they gave me the lovely gift I'd originally given. I left with my children, with a very annoyed "Have a nice Sunday," which says it all... plus comments behind my back as I left... Very unpleasant. Frankly, I was furious. My message to the manager, and perhaps to these two people who didn't understand where they worked. It's a suggestion... You can do what you want with it: When you're a store like yours, with the name you want to forge, a strong and recognizable identity, based on sharp and stylish choices: YES, people expect to receive a gift package from your store, and in the image of your store. The mindset of your customers who take the trouble to come to your store, on a side street off the main roads, is this: I didn't buy a gift in a hurry somewhere else between two errands while buying milk and laundry detergent. I took the time for these little girls, to go to the right place, to look for gifts for them, personalized, with a beautiful package that I'll be happy to give them. Through this gift, we show that we didn't go to any ordinary store. And we pay a little more than elsewhere for that. Also: That we go to a local store, not a chain store. But above all, when we pay a premium price for an item that's "above the price" at your store, YES we expect to be listened to and well received with a well-packaged item. As for the young lady, it would be good to avoid the comments and go to the competitor's store if I'm there...and to be honest with myself. I came to your store to be received with care. There you go, I really wanted to explain to you the impact of such a sale. I took the time to write you this message. I'm giving it one star for this mishap. The store itself is worth 5 stars. But despite everything, after this experience, it gives: -message received 5 out of 5 - Upcoming birthday gifts: Go to Chez h**a, they have gift wrapping, 10 birthdays per year for 2 children - Best regards, And Happy Thursday.
