31/03/2026: If you want Bocuse-style food, Croco isn't the place to go. Gourmet food for 20 euros? If you know of any, please let me know. Personally, I come every week and I know it's not perfect, but it's still good. If I'm not happy with a dish, I say so and they change it without any problem. The only downside is that whoever designs the dishes certainly didn't go to a top culinary school. Salmon goes well with rice. Why take it off the menu? It's so good with a pat of butter. Beef tartare with a green sauce—what a brilliant idea! The best cuisine is simplicity. A word to the wise.

04/04/2026: These are the best fries around. I regularly come from Lille to enjoy them. There's a bit of a wait on sunny days, but the atmosphere is great. And time flies. It's really fantastic.

21/03/2026: The staff were very friendly. The restaurant felt like a canteen, not very cozy and noisy. And there were no vegetarian options (only one burger, but it wasn't available that evening).

15/04/2026: Absolutely exceptional. We started with the profiteroles with Maroilles cheese. The sauce was the best Maroilles sauce we've tasted in several restaurants. Our main courses, the Flemish carbonnade and the chicken in beer sauce, were divine. If you're looking for a restaurant in Douai, look no further and head straight to Le Bistrot du Tigre – it's the best possible choice!

09/02/2026: A very good experience in every way. The owner and his wife are very friendly and manage the service expertly. The steak tartare was excellent 🤤 In short, if you're looking for a good, typical northern bistro, go for it!

14/03/2026: We ordered the ribeye steak for around €23 and the "Ch'ti" burger for around €17; both were served with homemade fries and an excellent Maroilles cheese sauce! The young staff were fantastic, especially the young man. They offered us small glasses of food while we waited. In short, go and see for yourself. We have our own opinion, and it's positive.

27/02/2026: Review of the GASTRONOMIC restaurant: My experience at La Maison Demarcq in no way reflects what one would expect from a fine dining restaurant. Wearing a suit is unfortunately not enough to guarantee professional service. The waitresses on duty that evening did not seem trained to meet the requirements of this type of establishment: cutlery dropped during clearing, an empty water bottle left on the table for half the meal without being offered another… and these are just a few examples. The most disappointing aspect was the handling of a perfectly legitimate comment regarding my partner's starter. We had all ordered the set menu, but his plate was noticeably richer in aspic than those of the other diners. When I pointed this out, the waitress replied that the kitchen had probably made a mistake by sending an à la carte starter instead of the one from the set menu. I expressed that this had spoiled the meal, but I received neither a clear apology nor any real attention to the situation, just a dismissive "oh well..." Mistakes happen, but the lack of a professional response is regrettable. Regarding the food, the meal was acceptable up until the main course (despite this incident). However, the dessert was a real disappointment: an extremely thick, heavy mille-feuille, difficult to enjoy, and which, in my opinion, has no place in an establishment claiming to be fine dining. It's a shame to end the meal on such an undignified note. Finally, the music was not in keeping with the advertised setting and level of service. The playlist played sounded more like an NRJ Music Awards party than a musical selection suitable for a fine dining restaurant. This contributed to an overall inconsistent experience. In the end, the price-quality ratio may partly explain these negative points: the pricing positioning remains reasonable, and this ultimately makes certain imperfections less surprising — even if we still expect a minimum of professionalism and consistency.

13/01/2026: Hi! I just got back from a morning of bike repair with a friend. I knew about the concept, but I'd never actually been. We both had brake problems, so we decided to go in. I was pleasantly surprised by the team there—they were so friendly, fun-loving, and incredibly patient. Goodness knows how patient you have to be with me! 😄 Besides getting my bike fixed 🚲, I had a great time and learned loads of things, especially how to change bike brakes. And let's not forget the satisfaction of doing it myself, with a little help, of course. In short, it was fantastic!

The dishes are beautifully presented and, above all, delicious. No waiting between courses and a pleasant atmosphere... Perfect from start to finish, and the bill is very reasonable!

26/01/2026: I came to your place after a trail run, just for a drink, and you very kindly invited us to stay for dinner. I didn't want to impose... and yet we were treated like royalty! I was able to enjoy your Welsh rarebit, without a doubt the best I've ever had—so much so that I didn't even realize there was no egg. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp croquettes. The prices are reasonable, and the service is perfect. A big thank you to the whole team!

04/01/2026: We went there on a Sunday at lunchtime and were lucky to get a table: the place was full within minutes. We understood why! The food is excellent and the value for money is just as good. I'll gladly go back!

14/02/2026: Lost in the plains of maritime Flanders, near the Bourbourg Canal, in a sort of no man's land... a traditional Flemish pub, one of the few truly authentic ones still in existence... La Brique d'Or! With a certain aesthetic appeal, impeccable taste, and without ostentation... As for the menu... a real journey, featuring typical homemade pub dishes! But not only that... cassoulet, tagines, tripe with juniper and beer! Certainly among the best I've ever eaten! A delight! A great delight! Moreover, as is fitting in a true pub, a convivial atmosphere where everyone is welcome... Lovers, carnival-goers, and others, all with Betty's elegant hospitality! Elegance, aesthetics, and culinary pleasure... all without ostentation and with authenticity and refinement in every aspect... It's simply... classy! There's a beautifully produced book that lists the most charming Flemish pubs in the region, "Estam: The Soul of Flemish Pubs," by Gilles Guillon (text) and Denis Paillard (photographs). La Brique d'Or would certainly have a prominent place in this fine work, among the very best... such as Chez Léon, Kerelshof, De Halve Maan, the garden at Mont des Récollets, and many others... And I know a thing or two about pubs! Bravo and thank you for existing!
