26/04/2026: Dining at Auberge du Vieux Puits was overall a very good experience. The cuisine is excellent, and the wine pricing is surprisingly fair for this level. However, the wine service did not meet the expected standard. I ordered a 1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Échézeaux (€2400), and my glass was refilled while it was still half full, which interrupted the natural evolution of the wine in the glass. More importantly, this was not an isolated moment. The same refill approach was repeatedly applied to other guests at the table, even when it was clear that they were slowing down or had stopped drinking. This not only affected the tasting experience but also led to unnecessary over-pouring. For wines of this level, service should adapt to the guest’s pacing and respect the integrity of each glass, rather than applying a routine refill approach. A noticeable gap in an otherwise excellent experience.

02/05/2026: We went there to enjoy classic cuisine and we weren't disappointed; everything was good. The semi-cooked foie gras was perfect, and the ravioli with cooked foie gras were delicious. The cassoulet didn't disappoint, though it was more traditional. It's one of the few places in Carcassonne worth the trip. The service was friendly, and they provided excellent wine recommendations.

18/05/2026: A perfect sweet treat after a hike! 🍰☕ After visiting the magnificent Lastours castles, we stopped at the Auberge de l'Orbiel for a sweet break, and it was pure bliss. The welcome was incredibly warm, the place is peaceful and ideally located for relaxation. The sweet treats were delicious, perfect for recharging our batteries in a delightful setting by the water. A truly wonderful place where you feel at ease and where the meaning of hospitality truly shines. I highly recommend this place for a restorative and charming break! 11/05/2026: A small café-restaurant just steps from the Lastours castles, a must-stop on your next visit. Cassoulet, salads, desserts... Everything is excellent! The best cassoulet in the region (yes, even Carcassonne!), we came all the way from Sète just for this one! A huge thank you to Christine and Jean-Louis for the very warm welcome and impeccable service. (P.S. There must be several reviews written tonight; there were 14 of us happy customers 😁)

10/05/2026: These weren't the best crepes I've ever had. The restaurant wasn't very busy. The waitress took our order for an aperitif and the main course, no problem there. Except she'd barely put the aperitif down before the main course was already in front of us. We didn't even have time to enjoy it.

17/11/2025: Medieval cuisine is certainly different from what we're used to eating today. Some dishes might, at first glance, seem a little bland, or at least not the kind of thing that would immediately make our mouths water, because our 21st-century palates are accustomed to tastes that are too sweet, too fatty, or too salty (clearly not the best for our health!). However, the kitchen team rose to this challenge brilliantly: each dish was perfectly seasoned, fragrant, and truly delicious. This made the culinary experience even more successful. The experience is further enhanced by the entertainment offered throughout the meal, as well as by the choice of costumes at the beginning, which immediately immerses us in the medieval atmosphere. We also greatly appreciated the intimate atmosphere of the restaurant, with only one seating at lunchtime: no constant coming and going, allowing us to fully enjoy the moment. A wonderful discovery that we highly recommend! Until next time!
