07/12/2025: Early December after a day at the spa, a little Beso, is a bit of a shock at first but then you let yourself be captivated by the warm and charming atmosphere of this institution.

08/03/2026: Despite the busy day (Sunday), we were pleased to be served immediately. The service and welcome were fantastic. The galettes were excellent, and the food was delicious.

05/03/2026: You can’t come to Normandy and not have a proper galette. This creperie is in Honfleur but on the wonderful old back streets away from the bustle of the quayside. It serves authentic galettes and simple salads with lovely Normandy cider. Very authentic and very friendly. We loved it.

09/01/2026: What a surprise! The foie gras was to die for, and the hand-cut beef tartare was excellent! I highly recommend it!!! We'll be back

02/01/2026: A very pleasant place; the owner, cook, and waiter (all the same person) are super efficient, the service is very quick and attentive, but what really stands out is the quality of the meal, made with fresh ingredients. The scallops were exceptional.

15/02/2026: A nice place, away from the main roads but worth the detour for a meal if you like crepes accompanied by the excellent local beer 🍻 from La Lie.

16/01/2026: These are truly excellent, authentic Chinese noodles. The portions are generous, and you can get seconds if there's any broth left. Prices have certainly gone up, but restaurants also have to make ends meet in this economy that affects us all. If our grocery bills are rising, so are theirs. If you want a great bowl of noodles in Caen without spending hours at a restaurant, I highly recommend Changshou!

27/03/2026: Honestly, the best kebab I've ever eaten! I recommend it 1000%! Plus, the staff are fantastic and very friendly. It's great!

22/03/2026: The kebab was really good, different with the vegetables and a delicious sauce, it's a nice change from the others and makes you want to come back.

15/03/2026: A very disappointing stay for a 5-star hotel. At nearly €400 a night, we expected impeccable service, which was clearly not the case. Having stayed in hotels of this standard and even lower categories, we have often received far more consideration elsewhere. The welcome was cold, there was no special attention in the room despite our having specified the purpose of our stay, the housekeeping was subpar, and there was no farewell upon departure. The customer service was equally disappointing: we felt ignored, and the hotel even made some inaccurate statements. Without its location, this hotel would unfortunately have little to justify its 5-star rating.

14/03/2026: Incredible location overlooking the main beach, magnificent building steeped in history. However, for a 5-star hotel, I didn't find the service or the rooms exceptional. The bathroom was huge but the bathtub was small, there was no shower, the toilet was in the bathroom, and there was a lot of poorly designed space. The decor was a bit dated. The breakfast was excellent. In short, a very good stay, but nothing spectacular.

28/11/2025: On vacation at my daughter's, she introduced me to her neighborhood bakery, "Carrément Gourmand," whose pastries I wholeheartedly recommend. My absolute favorite was the "Courchevel"—wow, it was amazing! As we say in the south of France 😉 I won't go into detail, but rather invite you to discover it for yourselves 😋 The only problem for me is that, having never seen it anywhere else, I have to... wait for my next visit to my daughter's to enjoy it again 🥺 P.S.: The custard tart, the Paris-Brest, and the viennoiserie I also tried... were all equally delicious 😋 And a big thank you for the warm welcome and the lovely shop 🥰

23/03/2026: A really pleasant and popular Italian restaurant in Caen close to the harbour area with plenty of parking available. Very nice staff with good service and good value for money. There was a wide selection of mains and desserts to enjoy.

26/03/2026: The service at the start was okay, the lady who greeted us and seated us was nice and patient. After we had a different lady who was our waitress and often had an attitude.. We waited at least 20 minutes for our food to come, and we were surprised as we had not expected our food to look like that. I ordered the lamb, and it looked dry, colorless and tasted bland and farmy (as if it were fresh out the farm, like you could taste the farm smell in a way), potatoes were cold, and the garlic sauce did not taste like garlic sauce at all. It was almost flavorless. My friends ordered the pork, and they had the same problem with their meat taste and look. It looked overcooked, and dry, and again with cold garnishes/potatoes. Then they had a mysterious purple like blob of something on their plate, and wasn't sure what it was as it wasn't even described on the menu. The ladies sat at the front desk/bar and had a view of us and kept watching us to see if we would like it or not. Once they saw that we weren't pleased with our food, they started talking to each other, and stared at us. Our waitress had to give another bottle of water at a table behind us, and she stomped and ran into my chair, I don't know if purposely or not. And 30€ for a plate of cold, dry food???? Not worth it!!!!! Tourist trap.

12/03/2026: We came here for dinner based off of the recommendation of our hotel and it was a short walk, which we appreciated. AMBIANCE: Upscale, beautiful and nicely decorated with a wood burning fireplace to take off the chill. SERVICE: We were a wee bit late but still warmly greeted by the manager, I presume. When we asked to switch tables we were met with a bit of resistance but we were accommodated, while our server looked on in disbelief. At that point our entire party saw the look of displeasure on her face and we saw the manager lady making fun of us; she surely didn’t think we would see her. When they saw that we caught them they quickly recomposed themselves but we already felt the fake vibe and we could tell that we were 100% an annoyance to them for sure. FOOD & DRINK: We started out with three appetizers of escargot, foie gras and a charcuterie platter with local meats. For entrees, we had chicken, Tripes and sea bass. We had a very lovely bottle of wine but we decided to forego dessert due to the uncomfortable vibe, and they did not hide their relief. The presentation of the food was nicely done but the taste was somewhat underwhelming, and given the price point and the forced service, it was a disappointingly average dinner. I don’t know that I would recommend this place but as always, please support your local small business! 3/12/26
