After reading about Le Bistro d'en Face in Le Michellin guide we were excited to visit for dinner on the terrace overlooking the Dordogne river, and boy were we not disappointed! The food was excellent 👌,fresh ingredients, prepared simply but with panache. We both opted for the local delicacy of Canard de Foix Gras served with 2 variations of prune jus and a stick of homemade walnut bread. The Foix Gras was rich and buttery while the prune sauces balanced the dish with sweet sharpness. For my main course I opted for the smoked and grilled beef fillet, cooked medium rare to perfection with home cooked pomme frites, carrot puree, grilled spring onions and a creamy, savoury, borderlais type sauce. Dressed with pickled white mustard seeds it was a perfectly put together and well thought out plate. Well balanced, with no one component battling against the others. My companion chose the grilled turbot with samphire and lemon butter sauce served with a separate creamy pea rissoto and what looked like a parmesan crisp coloured with squid ink. The fish was cooked perfectly, delicate firm flesh with a beautiful light flavour. There is a reason the turbot is the king of fish! Well balanced fillet with a buttery, fatty edge meeting the crispy skin. Imagine salmon belly sashimi and you'll be close! The sauce was rich, sharp and complemented the fish well and the salty samphire balanced out the richness perfectly. Finally onto the last course. A selection of french cheeses was delivered to my side of the table, while a light and airy mousse au chocolat with a hazelnut crisp and strawberry sorbet was placed down opposite. The cheeses had clearly been left to breathe for a while as they were at the perfect temperature, creamy, soft and the clear winner was the goats cheese from the Pyranes, delicious! A close second was the firm, slightly golden cows milk cheese. I only tasted a small spoonful of my companions dessert, but what a spoonful....Rich, decedent and voluptuous. A chocolate lovers dream dessert. The house Rosé was better than average, somewhat let down by the plastic cooler sleeve. The food and the service were superb. A clear example of a restaurant with a small selection of dishes done to perfection. My only real criticisms were that we were expected to keep our cutlery for both our starter and main course. Why Le Bistro d'en Face???? This was disappointing for a restaurant with such a good reputation. Linen napkins and a fish knife for the turbot would have been nice additions, but not a necessity. All in all a great evening and highly recommended.

01/05/2026: Very nice setting, friendly and attentive waiter. The chanterelle omelet was cooked in oil, not butter, and the Sarlat-style potatoes were unfortunately too greasy. The dishes were served almost cold.

12/05/2026: We made a detour to visit this shop we'd seen online. The lady was very welcoming and offered helpful advice on the homemade products, which were a guarantee of quality since they are recognized as products of the Périgord region. This family business has been around for several generations, and we highly recommend it.

21/04/2026: A beautiful, peaceful place with a warm welcome from the owners, good products, an enriching visit to the hamlet, and a lovely view. We had a fantastic night in our campervan. Thank you for everything, and we will definitely come back for another stay. There is so much to discover near Sarlat.

09/05/2026: Thank you for this authentic stopover. Charming hotel owners, delicious meal (thank you for the very tender duck breast)! It's a shame there was no music last night, but I would have gladly shared my favorite blues songs with you!

24/03/2026: Very clean hotel. The rooms are well soundproofed and the beds are comfortable. The meal consisted of a classic three-course meal (starter, main, dessert), but generous portions and very good. Breakfast was served at the table. Good value for money and, most importantly, open this season.

07/11/2025: Restaurant review only Two adjacent parking lots. €18 for a starter, main course, and dessert. The starter is a self-service buffet... Delicious and with a wide selection. The main course was very good: hanger steak with shallots and perfectly cooked fries. The desserts were also very good... Tiramisu and pear tart. The restaurant is divided into two sections with a veranda. Excellent value for money. Reservations are essential. I recommend it.

28/02/2026: An incredible restaurant in the heart of the countryside, delicious food at a very good price, and if you'd like to share a unique experience, you can try one of their two escape games with family or friends – a real success! The Auberge le Pauly restaurant is run by a passionate couple, a model of organization, coordination, and good humor. 20/04/2026: A very pleasant, calm, Japanese-style atmosphere with a good selection on the menu and friendly service. The only slight drawback is the lack of ramen. I recommend it.

16/05/2026: Reservation confirmed the day before for 1 p.m. but not honored by the owner. We were a group of 10 and had to find another solution with 4 very hungry children.

22/03/2026: Honestly, out of season, we were delighted to find a restaurant. It's expensive for a crepe, but oh well, the service was friendly nonetheless. Out of season, it's worth it!

28/04/2026: Just having arrived in Monpazier, I walked in to Restaurant Eleonore late and without a reservation. Isabelle, the owner was very accommodating offering me a table even though it was at the end of their dinner service. The meal of filet of beef was delicious and the presentation wonderful. Danin my server was exceptional and anticipated my every need. I highly recommend dinner at Restaurant Eleonore.

27/12/2025: Christmas Eve: A refined and welcoming atmosphere. Impeccable service. The menu: sophisticated, refined, elegant, and absolutely wonderful. The quality of the ingredients is beautifully showcased by the chef and his team. Special mention goes to the duck breast Wellington. It was well worth the 1 hour and 15 minute drive!
