After reading about Le Bistro d'en Face in Le Michellin guide we were excited to visit for dinner on the terrace overlooking the Dordogne river, and boy were we not disappointed! The food was excellent 👌,fresh ingredients, prepared simply but with panache. We both opted for the local delicacy of Canard de Foix Gras served with 2 variations of prune jus and a stick of homemade walnut bread. The Foix Gras was rich and buttery while the prune sauces balanced the dish with sweet sharpness. For my main course I opted for the smoked and grilled beef fillet, cooked medium rare to perfection with home cooked pomme frites, carrot puree, grilled spring onions and a creamy, savoury, borderlais type sauce. Dressed with pickled white mustard seeds it was a perfectly put together and well thought out plate. Well balanced, with no one component battling against the others. My companion chose the grilled turbot with samphire and lemon butter sauce served with a separate creamy pea rissoto and what looked like a parmesan crisp coloured with squid ink. The fish was cooked perfectly, delicate firm flesh with a beautiful light flavour. There is a reason the turbot is the king of fish! Well balanced fillet with a buttery, fatty edge meeting the crispy skin. Imagine salmon belly sashimi and you'll be close! The sauce was rich, sharp and complemented the fish well and the salty samphire balanced out the richness perfectly. Finally onto the last course. A selection of french cheeses was delivered to my side of the table, while a light and airy mousse au chocolat with a hazelnut crisp and strawberry sorbet was placed down opposite. The cheeses had clearly been left to breathe for a while as they were at the perfect temperature, creamy, soft and the clear winner was the goats cheese from the Pyranes, delicious! A close second was the firm, slightly golden cows milk cheese. I only tasted a small spoonful of my companions dessert, but what a spoonful....Rich, decedent and voluptuous. A chocolate lovers dream dessert. The house Rosé was better than average, somewhat let down by the plastic cooler sleeve. The food and the service were superb. A clear example of a restaurant with a small selection of dishes done to perfection. My only real criticisms were that we were expected to keep our cutlery for both our starter and main course. Why Le Bistro d'en Face???? This was disappointing for a restaurant with such a good reputation. Linen napkins and a fish knife for the turbot would have been nice additions, but not a necessity. All in all a great evening and highly recommended.

26/05/2026: We had a fantastic time at L’Entre 2 in Sarlat! The service was truly exceptional: a warm and friendly team, full of humor and attentive from start to finish. The €25.50 set menu offers excellent value for money with generous and delicious dishes. And a special mention for their tiramisu, absolutely incredible! We highly recommend this restaurant. We can't wait to go back!

03/05/2026: Excellent meal at the Hôtel de France in Sainte-Orse! The €30 set menu was delicious from start to finish: homemade soup, gizzard tart, trout with almonds, cheeses, and a perfect strawberry cake. Everything was a delight, quality home cooking in a simple and authentic setting!

24/11/2025: A place like few others left in France! Arriving on our motorcycles, a bit dirty after a ride through the forest, we were warmly welcomed by the owner and invited to discover the local cuisine prepared by his wife. If you're passing through the region, it's well worth a visit, provided you have a sense of humor 😉 It will remain a very fond memory and a wonderful encounter for us.

22/08/2025: Four of us had a delicious three course set menu, with four choices for each course, for €32 each plus drinks. We sat outside and were served by the friendly host and his wife who prepared our meals. A very enjoyable time was had by all. I would certainly recommend.

18/05/2026: Wonderful restaurant with excellent service. We had a very long drive behind us and thankfully stumbled upon Favard-Franca, which cured us of our fatigue. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. Despite being completely full and servers looking somewhat overwhelemed we were left wanting for nothing. Highly recommend going out of your way for.

28/02/2026: An incredible restaurant in the heart of the countryside, delicious food at a very good price, and if you'd like to share a unique experience, you can try one of their two escape games with family or friends – a real success! The Auberge le Pauly restaurant is run by a passionate couple, a model of organization, coordination, and good humor. 29/12/2025: 🦪🦪🦪🦪🦪/5 🌟 A gem in Saint-Jean de Cole 🌟 A restaurant in a splendid town center between the castle and the church 🏰 A restaurant that could be described as a bistro 🥩 but with the quality of its dishes comparable to a fine dining establishment 🍸 A big Bravo to the chef/pastry chef Hassan 👨🏽‍🍳 The signature prawn dish was delicious and the speculoos cheese mousse was heavenly ☁️ A real bonus is being able to enjoy your meal with your dog 🐕 nearby; the owners are used to having several dogs on the terrace and everyone has their own space 🧘🏻‍♂️ Until next time 👏🏻

17/04/2026: I came here with a friend and my husband and we really liked the Galettes. They were kind enough to prepare the Galettes du sarrasin sans oeufs specially for us My favourite was the dessert with orange marmalade, chocolate, chantilly and a sarrasin ice-cream! I would definitely come back to try others!
