Honestly, from start to finish, everything was impeccable! 10/10 ❤️ A fantastic welcome, a lovely and incredibly professional waitress who managed the entire dining room single-handedly, even with a very large table of about twenty people… and despite that, everything was perfectly under control! 👏 And then the food… absolutely divine! 😍 I had the homemade foie gras, simply succulent. My husband chose the snails in garlic butter, also delicious 🤤. And for our main course, we had the fish casserole: a real treat! 🐟❤️ All accompanied by an excellent little white wine recommended by the waitress… perfect! And what can I say about the owner? A lovely person, super friendly and truly warm! 🥰 She even let me spin the wheel of fortune 🎡 and I won a glass of champagne for our next visit! 🍾🥂 A small gesture that was truly appreciated and perfectly reflects the friendly atmosphere of this place. It was honestly one of the best moments we've had since arriving in Dunkirk. A place I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone passing through the area. 👉 I recommend it 1000%! ❤️ We will definitely be back… and even more excited for our little glass of champagne! 😂🥂🍾

So we asked for ice: we were brought… just one single ice cube per glass. Needless to say, it didn't have time to work its magic. The only real positive point: the waitress was very kind, smiling, and helpful; no complaints there. It's a shame, because with such high prices, one naturally expects a corresponding level of service. -- Response to the establishment: Thank you for your response, but unfortunately, it doesn't really reflect our experience. Regarding the "bargain prices," we didn't even bother looking at the menu: €5.80 for a 25cl Affligem draft beer and €4.80 for a Coke already seemed high enough to give us an idea of ​​the establishment's price range and not to continue with a meal. As for the ice cubes, I think there's also a misunderstanding: the problem isn't that the ice melted quickly. The drinks were served to us hot or barely chilled, and that's precisely why we had to ask for ice. We were then given only one ice cube per glass. The "natural phenomenon" mentioned in your response doesn't really explain the situation. As for the "exceptional crowd," when we sat down on the terrace around noon, it was practically empty. When we went to pay inside, we overheard the manager pressuring her employees to sell more, especially desserts, explaining that otherwise she wouldn't be able to keep everyone on staff. Finally, when I mention the kindness and professionalism of your waitress, I'm not "nuancing" my comment: I'm simply distinguishing between the quality of service provided by an employee and the overall service of the establishment. She was very pleasant, and I stand by that compliment. However, I am quite surprised by the tone of your response, which seems more intent on disputing every comment than on listening to a customer's experience. And, on a more personal note, its highly standardized wording strongly suggests an AI-generated response. If that is indeed the case, I find it regrettable that a customer review doesn't warrant a few minutes of personal attention from management. My initial comment simply recounted our experience. Your response, unfortunately, only confirms our impression.

19/08/2026: Google Review Very bad experience at Brasserie des Flandres on August 4th. For us, it's definitely a first and last time. We had called ahead to reserve a table for 6 people with a small dog on the terrace. Upon arrival, the reservation had been misunderstood: they thought we were 5 people and a dog. As there was ultimately no more room on the terrace, we were seated inside. As soon as we were seated, the owner rushed us to order even though we hadn't had time to properly look at the menu. The welcome was very cold and unpleasant. Given the intense heat, we simply asked for a bowl of water for our dog. We were told we had to get up and go out onto the terrace so he could drink. We found this particularly unprofessional. When it came time to order, one of us wanted to have chicken with Maroilles cheese. We were eventually told that the kitchen hadn't prepared any yet and therefore it wasn't possible to order them. We found this quite surprising, especially for a dish on the menu. Regarding drinks, we ordered a pitcher of rosé, three Oranginas, one Coke, and one iced tea. The menu indicated 33 cl, but the drinks served were 25 cl. When we pointed this out, the owner's response was, in short, that they hadn't chosen them and had received them as is. No gesture of goodwill or real consideration of our comment. Unfortunately, the meal didn't improve matters: the burger patties were very dry, the portion of fries was extremely limited (I only counted 18 on my plate), and, for the mussels marinière I ordered, the sauce was very bland, tasting mainly of seawater, and the mussels didn't seem to be cooked properly. I then asked for a simple carafe of water. The owner replied very coldly, "One moment," but she never came back. Given the reception and the overall experience, we decided not to order dessert. When it came time to pay, we simply wanted to split the bill into three payments. The owner and his wife refused and asked us to settle it amongst ourselves with a single payment. I ended up paying the full amount, quite annoyed by the situation. In short, between the reception, the service, the unavailable dish, the drinks that didn't match the quantities listed on the menu, and the quality of the food, we were very disappointed. First and last time for us. We unfortunately do not recommend this brasserie.

12/06/2026: The menus and prices online are completely wrong; there's no €19.50 set menu and no mussels marinière. Drinks and food are expensive. A glass of wine is €7, a kir €8, few dishes are under €25, and desserts are €10. The bill adds up very quickly, even if you're careful. There's a long wait for your food. The meal is good, but very basic. The tables are bistro-style with disposable placemats. No tablecloths, just paper napkins. It used to be just as good, but at more affordable prices.

17/08/2026: Extremely slow service: we waited almost an hour before being served. Furthermore, the meats we ordered were not cooked to our liking. When we told the waiter we had been waiting an hour for our food, his response was: "You should have told us you were in a hurry." We weren't asking for express service, just a reasonable wait and for our orders to be respected. An hour's wait without explanation, with incorrectly cooked food, is unacceptable.

06/08/2026: We just wanted to grab a quick coffee, but the owner first made a fuss because we weren't ordering food and removed the tablecloth. Then we ordered two cappuccinos for €12. The nastiest coffee I have ever had. Definitely not recommended!

15/08/2026: A truly wonderful experience at the Royal Hainaut, celebrating my mother's 70th birthday on August 8th. We dined at La Galerie restaurant, the one with the long, narrow dining room adorned with numerous portraits. The setting was absolutely magnificent, perfectly reflecting the charm of this historic building. It was a truly wonderful experience. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, polite, and attentive—truly worthy of this type of establishment. We enjoyed a delicious meal, with excellent dishes and pleasant service. Having heard about my mother's birthday, he even had the thoughtful touch of placing a small candle on her dessert, without us even asking. A small gesture, but one that truly made the moment special. I also asked him if he could take some photos of us to capture the day. He kindly agreed, with a smile. In short, a superb meal, an exceptional setting, a warm welcome, and above all, a beautiful memory for my mother's birthday. Thank you to the team at La Galerie and especially to our server for these thoughtful touches which helped make this day even more special.

25/08/2026: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a good meal, and the place was very welcoming. However, the service unfortunately needs improvement. The attitude of some servers, both to each other and to customers, was quite unpleasant. For example, when we asked for a candle for two birthdays at our table, the waitress replied, "Well, I can't know if you don't tell me," before telling her colleague that it wasn't true. The platters were also rather poorly presented, especially the cheese platter.

For the same price with 2€ difference you can go to rue de gand to have great food and great experience. From service to the food, not recommended at all. Hope it improves cause its on a nice location and the potential can be big. Apologies for the honest review. Its not meant to shame the place but to give people an honest review and find ehat they are looking for which is a good experience.

23/05/2026: I went there twice. For tobacco, "Hey Biloute" lighters 🤣, and I took the opportunity to enjoy a beer on the terrace. I received a wonderful welcome from the owner. He was the only person I spoke to. This gentleman is exceptionally kind, always smiling, and extremely polite. The establishment is clean, including the restrooms. The terrace is covered and very pleasant. Surprisingly, although the establishment is located at the roundabout on Place Jeanne d'Arc, you aren't bothered by the traffic, which is quite reasonable. I will definitely go back. I sincerely thank this gentleman, who has a true sense of business and the utmost respect for his customers. Don't hesitate to go there; you will be truly satisfied.
