25/05/2026: First time trying John Dory, far beyond sea bass and pollack! It delights even the most discerning palates; the cooking is perfectly executed with a variety of small vegetables and flavorful sauces – a true treat! The entire team is truly dedicated, discreet, and responsive! Last week, it was a langoustine and white asparagus duo... with such a wide selection, you never get tired of it! A huge congratulations to the whole team!

25/02/2026: The experience could have been good with less of a wait (1 hour to take our order, 30+ minutes for the starter despite the restaurant being two-thirds full!). We asked for the wait to be expedited, but the waitress quickly brushed us off. The dishes were fairly good, although the meat was undercooked (the rare was blue and the well-done was just rare), and there were no fries. We do not recommend it.

16/02/2026: A small restaurant with wood-fired cooking that makes all the difference. 🔥 You can taste the quality and authenticity in every bite. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming; you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. The owner and staff are truly lovely, smiling, and attentive. You can feel their genuine passion and desire to please their customers. We had a wonderful time, and it was also very good value for money. I highly recommend this place and will gladly return! 😊

26/02/2025: your explanations for your closure are more than risky you know very well that the covid crisis plus the economic crisis plus the transformation of the Place d'Arme into a pedestrian zone which caused the surrounding businesses to lose 40% of their customers plus the closure of the Passage des Flanders on December 3 completed the disaster in just 3 months 10 license 4 establishments (bars bistros restaurants) closed for bankruptcy! in Valenciennes you are the 10th and everyone noted this so as not to incriminate the municipal team when it is the turn of the SET I wonder how you will react! note: responding to a dissatisfied customer the day before the permanent closure of the establishment that you are going to improve the table service is at the highest level!

08/03/2026: A restaurant that serves nothing but fries. Two daily specials offered, no vegetables, no low-GI options. I ordered steak tartare with one slice of tomato and one lettuce leaf. Very, very disappointed.

24/04/2026: Excellent brasserie! We had a table reserved as planned, and the staff took this information into account, reserving us a table with plenty of space around us. We received a very warm welcome. The draft beers were fresh, delicious, and well-poured. The sharing platter for our aperitif was served quickly, was large, generous, and offered a wide variety of items. For the meal, the portions were generous, the food perfectly cooked—a real treat! I would say the same for the desserts and the coffee. The restrooms were impeccably clean, and for parents like us, there was a clean reclining table with a mattress for the baby's comfort. I found the price reasonable for the overall service we received, and we were able to pay with holiday vouchers, cards, and restaurant vouchers, as well as combine them. In conclusion: I 100% recommend this brasserie. Thank you for allowing us to have a wonderful time as a family.

Unfortunately, for this second experience, the Mojito had very little rum, an opinion confirmed by my partner. I should have mentioned it, but I didn't dare...

15/05/2026: Excellent food. The couscous is the best in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. We travel from the Calais area despite the price of petrol.

11/10/2025: Convinced by the reviews I've read here, I gave in to temptation at La Cambuse. Unfortunately, I didn't find much in the following comments: - First, the smell of fried food is striking, as soon as you enter the bar/restaurant, guaranteeing smelly clothes all afternoon. - Second, the dining room has almost no natural light (just a skylight), with very basic furniture, not very pleasant; it's quite sad to eat in. - The draft beer menu is rather poor, which is always a shame in the north. - The service is nevertheless pleasant and fast. - But I was disappointed when the frozen fries and bagged salad arrived...

22/05/2026: The service is attentive, the food is high quality, there's no wait, and all this with a smile. However, a major drawback is their refusal to offer a "free" carafe of water, only selling bottled water. As a reminder, the DGCCRF (French Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control) states: "You have the right to request a replacement dish, refuse the cloakroom service, order a free carafe of water, and request a 'doggy bag'." I hope that the managers, being professionals, will respect the law on this principle for future customers who request a carafe of water.

17/05/2026: Superb place! The food is generous and exquisite (the ravioli were a delight), and the service is impeccable. Special mention for the wine list. Unfortunately, the weather didn't allow us to enjoy the magnificent terrace.
