01/09/2026: The food was very average, and the grill cook was more unpleasant than a cook.

09/08/2026: We are regular customers, coming almost every Sunday evening. All the staff are remarkably kind. We came today and I'm delighted that there's a good selection of vegetables, which can be lacking depending on what you receive, of course. The grilled food was delicious, perfectly cooked, and always served with a smile. The manager, Céline, even took the time to chat with us. It's always a pleasure.

07/07/2026: The meal itself was fine. However, the waitresses' friendliness leaves much to be desired. They were cold, unfriendly, and curt in their responses, with an annoying air that was off-putting. In larger groups, it was clear this displeased them. It's a shame, it spoils everything. They shouldn't only be friendly to regular customers. Another minor issue: I found pieces of plastic in the ice cream (two desserts). I mentioned it when paying, and the cashier's response was unbelievable: "Oh, probably me when I opened the container this morning!" No apology or gesture of goodwill. Apparently, this is normal. So, disappointing and unprofessional for a well-known and reputable establishment.

27/06/2026: Aurore and her team gave us a super warm welcome. Several menus, reasonable prices, and a friendly, family atmosphere. She even made us a delicious Dame Blanche (vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce).

14/06/2026: Not a good visit whereas previous visits have been enjoyable. When my steak arrived I was alarmed at the smell. It didn't smell like charred beef, it smelled strongly as if it was off. (Old, stale and very smelly.) Two small bites and I realised I couldn't eat it. Also the béarnaise sauce was in a tiny pot and bore no resemblance to what it should have been. Staff were fine, asked if I'd like something else. Burger arrived, it was ok. I've had much better. Then came the bill... They charged me 50% of the beef steak that "I didn't like" rather than accepting it was inedible. Also charged me for the burger. Beyond cross. That is not how you treat customers. I have rarely ever returned anything in a restaurant and to be charged 50% for a failed dish is beyond my comprehension. No, I will not be returning to the Darnetal.

10/08/2026: A warm welcome, plus it's located opposite the port... I recommend the mussels in Maroilles cream sauce... a real treat... once you've finished the mussels... put the fries in the sauce and enjoy!

21/07/2026: We ordered a crepe with a scoop of ice cream. Honestly, it wasn't great. There wasn't enough chocolate, the crepe was just warmed up (a little), and the vanilla ice cream wasn't very good. The only positive point was that our drink was nice and cold.

22/12/2025: Restaurant closed - their catering service: HOW DO I END UP WITHOUT A CHRISTMAS MEAL FOR 11 PEOPLE ON DECEMBER 21ST?! My advice: RUN AWAY!! Tuesday, October 7th, request for a meal for 12 people - Reply from Ms. Manier on October 8th: "Hello, I just checked with the gentleman, there's no problem if you are more than 10 people. Thank you for your feedback on the meal of August 26th. Regarding the choice of meal, I'll let you choose from our menus on our Facebook page, which have already been offered in previous months." Followed by 5 text messages from me with no reply from Ms. Manier!!!!! D-Day, December 21st, 10:00 AM… I called to pick up the food, “Yes, I’ll ask Monsieur… (????!!!!!) I’ll call you back…” No phone call, but a nice message (it’s easier that way) from Mrs. Manier: “I just got off the phone with my husband, he told me he hadn’t confirmed the order for December 21st (FALSE! SEE FIRST REPLY!!) With his new job, it wasn’t compatible with the end-of-year holidays.” (WHY DIDN’T SAY THIS BEFORE AND WHY DIDN’T YOU REPLY TO MY 5 MESSAGES?) 1. A LIE, as evidenced by the October 8th message!! 2. Communication between the couple = ZERO - 3. No apologies, no "we're sorry,"... figure it out with your 11 guests, basically... and an arrogant young woman on the phone... 👏🏼 AVOID AT ALL COSTS, THEY'RE NOT SERIOUS

22/08/2026: The waitress was very unpleasant. I ordered the fish, rice, and ratatouille, which was very good, however, there was only a tablespoon of rice. I asked if it would be possible to have a little more; that was the portion size, and if you wanted more, it would be an extra charge. On the other hand, my husband ordered a disgusting poltevesh with a sour taste. We informed the waitress, but she didn't respond! I really don't recommend this place; we were very disappointed with our evening. Avoid it!

15/08/2026: As the restaurant's name suggests, "Les Pieds dans l'Eau" (Feet in the Water), the welcome was very warm, the service impeccable, and the food excellent. Thank you!

23/08/2026: This was our sixth visit to this establishment. Until now, everything had been almost perfect, but what a disappointment this Saturday! The atmosphere was very oppressive (heat), noisy (a table of four people who seemed to think they were at a fair). As for the food, it started with a dirty knife that needed replacing. The dishes have become extremely basic, lacking any creativity (e.g., the raw zucchini appetizer swimming in a blue cheese sauce (€16), the sea bream cut into pieces that was difficult to find under a tomato (€18), the sea bass fillet cooked without any fuss (€34 nonetheless!). The wine service left much to be desired. The white wine was placed in an ice bucket at our request, but positioned outside the table. As a result, the main course arrived, and we still had more than half the bottle of white wine to finish. We had ordered the red wine in advance so it would be well-aerated before being served, but we only had to ask for it after the main courses had already arrived. As a result, in the rush, the glasses weren't changed between the red and white wines. We only recognized two permanent staff members; the other servers seemed to be new or in training. We understand that everyone has to start somewhere, but the service can't be up to standard with so many inexperienced employees. All of this leads us to conclude that this will be our last visit. Oh, and I almost forgot, the bill came to nearly 400 euros for four people!

18/08/2026: What a wonderful discovery the Anecdote restaurant in Montreuil-sur-Mer was! The four of us dined there on Saturday, August 8th, and had an exceptional time in an atmosphere that was both elegant and welcoming. The meal was simply remarkable: high-quality ingredients, refined cuisine, and memorable flavors that demonstrate true expertise. We were particularly impressed by the service, provided by a 19-year-old who had just joined the establishment for a short period before enlisting in the army. Although the restaurant industry isn't his primary profession, he displayed a kindness, attentiveness, and professionalism worthy of the finest establishments. His energy and sincerity added a precious human touch to our experience. Some background music would have been appreciated to complete the ambiance, but this is a minor detail given how perfect everything else was. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, where culinary excellence and genuine hospitality meet with rare elegance.
