21/03/2026: Great little restaurant! A big thumbs up for the speculoos apple tart! Everything is homemade, and I discovered a local specialty: Welsh rarebit! Cheddar cheese, bread, ham, and an egg—delicious! The chef actually comes to chat with his customers, which is rare these days, and the waiter was fantastic! Thank you! ❤️

24/09/2026: A very warm welcome, very friendly staff. They welcomed us, 15 hikers, last Sunday around 5 pm, before the evening rush, and completely unexpectedly! Very responsive. Varied and affordable menu. Ample parking and a very pleasant setting. Next time we'll try the terrace in the courtyard!

05/10/2026: One of the best restaurants I know. We've been coming here several times a year for over 10 years, and it's always perfect. The premises are very inviting and comfortable. The owner and the waiters are very friendly and competent. I don't like many foods and am quite picky about them, but they are very flexible, which I really appreciate, and you never feel like you're causing any trouble. They've also always been flexible and prepared dishes (even off-menu items) for celebrations (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). The food is high-quality, beautifully presented, and tastes fantastic, even though I'm a very picky eater. The value for money is excellent and justified. All in all, simply a superb restaurant.

20/10/2026: A charming spot in the heart of Boulogne-sur-Mer's old town. We'd been told L’Îlot Vert was almost a gourmet restaurant, even the best in the old town. So we were eager to try it. So, is the food good? Yes. But is it good enough for the price and the stated ambitions? In my opinion, no. Let's start with the service. We were very warmly welcomed by the first person we met, but the rest of the experience was considerably less pleasant. The manager, in particular, was frankly unpleasant, giving us the impression that it was best not to ask him for advice. A shame at this price point. Now, let's talk about the food. I must emphasize: the cuisine is generally good, some of the ingredients are well-prepared, and the presentation is elegant. But something essential is missing: flavor, coherence, and precision in the flavor combinations. The "dried pork loin platter with mustard and roasted figs" promised a somewhat sophisticated starter. Instead, we received a rather ordinary charcuterie board, accompanied by a small, barely roasted fig and a few mustard seeds that looked like they were fighting for attention. The "sea bass crudo with avocado and pineapple relish and jalapeño tiger leche" was beautiful to look at, but far more disappointing on the palate: little character, no real depth. This was all the more strange after an amuse-bouche of a rather heavy little Emmental tart, served just before this starter that was supposed to bring freshness. The fish served as a main course was good, but the sauce and accompaniments lacked character. And I'm not talking about salt! I'm talking about the way the ingredients came together. The smoked eggplant, for example: why? We couldn't perceive the smokiness, nor what the eggplant brought to the fish. The same was true for the scallops: the leeks and seaweed didn't seem to add much, and the dish felt a bit heavy. What a shame! A plate of warm vegetables perfectly summed up this impression. Small, perfectly tasty vegetables, topped with grated carrots, salad-style. There was no obvious connection between the elements; it seemed as if they had been thrown together by chance. This is the crux of my disappointment. I felt like I was witnessing a cuisine that tries to replicate the codes of contemporary gastronomy without always understanding why they work elsewhere. A condiment, a smoky touch, seaweed, or an exotic fruit is added simply because it seems sophisticated. But if these elements neither transform nor enhance the flavor of the dish, what purpose do they serve? At times, I felt that the combinations were copied from dishes seen elsewhere, without sufficient thought given to their balance. The problem isn't a lack of daring, but a lack of precision. This cuisine seems to prioritize originality over flavor. It's all the more frustrating because the foundations are often good. The desserts didn't redeem this impression: an undercooked rice pudding and a flan with a heavy, dry crust, like the tart served as an amuse-bouche. Finally, the wines by the glass are offered at fairly reasonable prices (€6 to €14), but those we tasted seemed modest, lacking any real depth to complement dishes of this caliber. In short, L’Îlot Vert isn't a bad restaurant. The food is good, but too rarely does it deliver the pleasure or surprise one expects from a restaurant that claims so much creativity. The cuisine is visually appealing, sometimes seemingly inventive, but often bland or disjointed on the palate. For this price, I expected much more.

06/10/2026: I was extremely disappointed. We had booked our table eight days in advance and driven an hour and a half for lunch. Upon arrival, we were told they were out of beef and had veal instead. We wanted to introduce our son to this restaurant. I've never left a restaurant so quickly before. What a disappointment!

11/09/2026: This restaurant is such a great representation of Taiwanese cuisine 🇹🇼❤️ Whether for breakfast or dinner, I wholeheartedly recommend it 👌🏼👌🏼 And to tell you how much I love it: I traveled from the South of France for the second time just to come to this restaurant. And honestly, my taste buds are thanking me! Special mention to the manager, who is absolutely lovely. After learning that I had a cold, he made me a chamomile tea and kindly offered it to me. A small gesture that really touched me 🫶🏼 And above all, it's the only Taiwanese restaurant I know that offers the famous savory pancakes, an iconic Taiwanese specialty. An absolutely unmissable specialty! A truly exceptional place that does justice to Taiwanese cuisine, with delicious dishes and such a warm welcome 🙏🏼
