24/07/2026: Excellent place. We received a very warm welcome from the moment we arrived, despite our late arrival (1:30 pm) and the presence of many other diners. Flawless from start to finish, this lunch was even reasonably priced. We don't regret making the detour at all.

31/07/2026: I was really looking forward to lunch at this must-visit spot in Macon, but unfortunately, my enthusiasm was quickly dampened by the exceptionally slow and haphazard service. Three people at the reception chatted while staring at us, none of them showed us to our table, and the same went for taking our order. Our waiter disappeared mid-service, and his colleagues seemed far from eager to take over! They were all incredibly informal with each other (like, "Yo, mate!"). In the end, there wasn't even time for an appetizer platter or dessert! Judging by our expressions, no one asked if everything was alright when the bill arrived… Unless they change the waiters, this place is one to avoid!

05/06/2026: June 1st, 2026: This is the only place in Chalon where the daily special is consistently delicious: Thank you to the talented chef! It's a welcoming place that keeps you coming back: a great spot for a peaceful and particularly pleasant lunch. In fact, after trying many restaurants in Chalon, my friend Jacqueline and I finally settled on Paolo. We go twice a week and for several months now, we've been enjoying the quality and variety of the menu, as well as the speed and professionalism of the service: the daily special/dessert menu is excellent value for money at €14.90. The atmosphere is serene, and the service is friendly and welcoming. Simply the best! Kudos to the truly generous owners, who go the extra mile to please their customers. Thank you, Pascal and Sylvain, and keep up the good work in 2022 ;-).

25/07/2026: A very good restaurant by the water. The service was a little slow... we waited 45 minutes for our aperitifs, but after that it was fine and we had a very pleasant time as a family. The chef came to chat with us; it was very nice! I took my father to this restaurant for his 83rd birthday, and he was delighted! We'll be back! ☺️

21/07/2026: We had the set menu: starter + frogs' legs with parsley sauce + dessert. It was very good. The service was impeccable. The chef did a great job, especially considering he was working alone that day. Congratulations to him and a big thank you for his friendly manner. The setting is very pleasant, right on the banks of the Saône. I highly recommend it.

04/05/2026: We stayed for one night with friends, including a “gastronomic dinner.” Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The hotel itself is beautiful, but upon arrival we were informed that the air conditioning would not be available (because they decided we don't need airco!!!). We were simply told to open the windows if it became too warm... not exactly a great start. Overall, despite the owners’ apparent willingness to do their best, the dinner was far from gastronomic standards. During the four-course meal, the pacing was extremely rushed: we received the second course barely three minutes after finishing the first. It felt as though the dishes had been prepared in advance and kept warm, ready to be served as quickly as possible, which clearly affected both texture and taste. Our overall impression is that the hotel and restaurant are struggling, and that this is reflected in an inconsistent level of service and a lack of confidence in execution. The concept and pricing suggest a high-end experience, but the reality does not match. For instance, €8 for a glass of cola or €18 for a glass of Viré-Clessé would be acceptable if the overall experience justified it but this is far from the case. Even the decision to limit the use of air conditioning gives the impression of cost-cutting at the expense of guest comfort. In its current state, the establishment would benefit from a complete rethink of its positioning and service standards, as the quality simply does not justify the prices charged.

29/08/2026: A very pleasant family meal. A lovely surprise. Excellent in terms of taste. The duck breast was delicious and the small gratin was a delight. The dessert was very mild, not too sweet, a nice balance. The decor and furniture were nice, but not the food; it lacked comfort and refinement. The only downside was the acoustics; the restaurant remains noisy when busy. That was the case for us. The place isn't wheelchair accessible, but we managed. In short, we recommend it.
