28/05/2026: We had lunch here after visiting Falaise castle. I had a gallette with eggs, cheese and ham. My wife had one with just egg and ham, and our son had chicken nuggets and chips, which he described as as good as the ones from Blacksmith Arms (his favourite place for chicken nuggets). The gallette was delicious and the service was great too. There's an outdoors seating area, though we chose to sit indoors with A/C instead of out in the heat. Can highly recommend a lunch here.

24/05/2026: The manager was very unpleasant and refused us entry to the terrace, even though it was half empty. The other customers who were seated were just as surprised as we were. Judging by other comments about the owner, we're not the first. P.S. in response: I note that your comment, signed "the unfriendly one," was also very predictable 😊

03/08/2026: At 8 a.m., no white baguettes. I think 8 a.m. is a normal time for a baker to offer their entire range. It's outrageous.

19/07/2026: I go to Marie Blachère Mondeville when I go to Grand Frais. But I won't be going back. The products are pretty good... but the service! No "hello," the girl who serves you moves on to the next customer without a little "my colleague will take over to ring up, goodbye ma'am." The colleague who takes over just rings up the price and of course doesn't say goodbye... (I repeated "goodbye" twice, very loudly so she could hear me...) It's a good Saturday evening, end of the day, but I also worked this Saturday and I do my shopping after work, and I would have liked to be treated a little more respectfully! At Marie Blachère in Lazzaro, they are much nicer! And they have a loyalty program!

18/08/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A wonderful experience at Mermoz, a place I highly recommend! From the moment we arrived, we received a very warm welcome. Despite a slight wait, we were notified and seated as quickly as possible. The restaurant is clean, elegant, and well-maintained, yet still welcoming: you immediately feel at ease. The setting with its sea view is very pleasant, and the different areas allow you to enjoy the space even when the weather isn't ideal. I also appreciated the spacing between the tables: you don't feel crowded. A small touch that I particularly appreciated: water is brought directly with the menus. It may seem trivial, but when you arrive thirsty or someone needs to take medication, it's truly appreciated. On the culinary front, the oysters were excellent 🦪: very fresh, a good size, with a pleasant texture and a lovely accompaniment of shallots and vinegar. I then chose the salmon with rice and broccoli. It's a dish I cook regularly and I'm quite particular about it: I was very satisfied. Good quality ingredients, lots of flavor, and just the right portion. Serving the sauce separately was also a great idea, allowing everyone to add as much as they like and combine it with their own. There were several of us, and everyone was very happy: almost all the plates were emptied! The beef tartare was a big hit, as were the lightly spiced calamari. Even the sauerkraut, which I'm not usually a big fan of, was very well done. A special mention goes to our server, Noël, who contributed enormously to this wonderful experience. He was very respectful, helpful, attentive, and above all, offered excellent advice. He specifically warned us that the mussels were small that day, which we greatly appreciated: his honesty allowed us to choose something else rather than risk being disappointed. He was always available whenever we had a question or request. A level of service that's become quite rare these days. A member of our family also needed a takeaway at the last minute, and the team managed to prepare it for us. Thank you! If there's one area for improvement, it would be the non-alcoholic cocktail menu. The offerings seemed rather basic, mainly based on juices and syrups. I would have liked to see more elaborate and creative mocktails, with fresh fruit, citrus, aromatic herbs, or more original combinations. 🍹 Finally, the value for money is very good considering the quality of the products, the service, the ambiance, and the location. The menu also offers different price points, making it suitable for a range of budgets. I had already visited Le Mermoz as a child and had fond memories of it. Several years later, with more experience in different restaurants and a more discerning palate, I left once again very satisfied. Thank you to the entire team, and a special mention to Noël for the outstanding quality of his service. A place I highly recommend in Villers-sur-Mer!

14/08/2026: Excellent service! We ate well twice, on Monday and Friday. Delicious homemade non-alcoholic cocktail, with the taste of lychee!

13/08/2026: Absolutely avoid this place!!! 100 euros for 4 people, help! The welcome was already terrible, only 7 people in the whole restaurant (you understand why later). As for the selection, there was practically nothing, maybe 22 dishes at most! And for sushi, only 2 choices, lol... thank goodness the sign said "Asian," because it was on the table! No chopsticks, no place settings with Chinese characters, no house cocktails... in short! The decor is straight out of the 1920s... and the food was awful, practically empty dishes, overcooked or even boiled meat! In short, a disgrace! And they call themselves a Chinese restaurant... never again! I'm not from the area, thankfully.

14/07/2026: The first time I ate a delicious pot of mussels with camembert; the pizza was also good. The service was very friendly. However, the fries, as is often the case in France, are not very good.. The second time, unfortunately, there was sand in my salad, but the pasta was very tasty.

27/07/2026: Too bad! It's not a disaster... But I remembered an excellent and generously filled camembert kebab... Prices are going up, that's normal... but please don't make everything extra small on top of raising prices... And above all, a camembert kebab with sauce—if I can barely taste the camembert at the end, the experience is ruined. It wouldn't take much to redeem it. Otherwise, the staff was pleasant.

19/07/2026: We celebrated a surprise birthday there, but we weren't dressed for the occasion. The welcome was very warm, and the service was excellent. The sommelier put a few drops on the table, but we forgave him. And then, at the end, there was a fireworks display without us even knowing! I had four Balbec menus, including a sole meunière, and the cheese trolley was a delight. It just goes to show you don't need a Michelin star to eat well.

04/04/2026: While the products are very good, the Caen store is rather small, making it difficult to move around when there are several customers. It's very unpleasant to be told "can I help you?" after only five seconds in the store.

10/03/2026: Absolutely beautiful chocolate creations here! I had to find one that wouldn't break in my suitcase. The wonderful employee wrapped my chocolate so it would be safe. Thank you! Incredibly reasonable prices... The sculptures would be 10x the price in the USA.

25/08/2026: We arrived late, but they still served us something to eat. Two croque-Madames with plenty of fries and some salad, two non-alcoholic beers, and two coffees, which they kindly served with ice (we're Spanish, and we like them that way in the summer). Very reasonably priced at €21.50. Thank you.
