22/09/2026: Went there twice a week apart with my son. We were traveling through Lyon and Hippopotamus was very close to our hotel. I ordered the Steak au Poivre and a beer. My son ordered a specialty burger and a beer. The beers arrived as soon as the waitress had finished taking the order. Wow. This was Sun Sep 13 around 7pm after a long day of travel from Canada. The food came, hot, presented just like the menu showed. We were impressed. The food, service, and the conversation with the waitress was excellent. One week later, Monday Sept 21, 6pm we entered the same restaurant. Why not. It was great the previous week. We were the only ones there at that time and really in no rush to order. I ordered the steak au poivre, and a small salad. My son ordered a burger. My steak au poivre was a disaster. It seemed to have been leftover pieces of beef cooked separately. The slices were chunks of meat, not slices. The fries were just thrown on the plate. The salad was limp, and not fresh. Just terrible. As a foreigner who does not speak French, I decided to just eat some of the pieces of meat and the dry fries since there were pieces of meat that looked ok. When it came to paying the bill I explained that this was not the same as before and not like the picture in the menu. He said...it was not the same chef, but his underling. He did not comp me for the meal. We left.. never again. The day after my experience, we travelled to Paris. Very bad day, upset stomach and more. If it looks bad, it's bad. So let's call some sort of food poison from a poorly prepared meal by a person who knows nothing about cooking. Lesson learned. If a restaurant can be so inconsistent in offering the same food, someone needs to be disciplined.

22/09/2026: Everything was fine, but I absolutely must say that while the service was very good for us, four people with severe disabilities had to manage almost entirely on their own and took a long time to find a suitable seat. One quadriplegic had to manage entirely on his own to help another person with a disability and, at the waitress's request, had to park outside and find his own way back in. I am shocked by the lack of empathy and, above all, the lack of assistance. I spoke with them, and they were distressed and upset. We are fortunate enough to be able to walk and move around, and a restaurant (where there was plenty of space on the terrace) should accommodate and move chairs to make room for people who need it!

01/08/2026: Order never received when ordering through Uber. Hangs up on you when you call. Takes payment. But has no respect for the customer.

05/09/2026: I mentioned I'm allergic to onions. I found onions in my sandwich. I called. "Oh yes, sorry, I can make you another sandwich." It never occurred to him that food allergies can be serious. I said goodbye, and he hung up on me.

30/08/2026: Excellent food and service. The interior dining room lacked a bit of charm, and our table had a view of the dishwashing area. But this didn't spoil our enjoyment.

30/08/2026: Not worth the price. The two dishes served at the table were good, but the buffet looked very cheap. The pancake toppings were left in their original containers with a spoon inside, and the drinks were simply placed on a table. For a brunch at this price, the presentation was disappointing. I would advise the restaurant owners to: - transfer the pancake sauces into nicer containers and add signs indicating their contents - serve the drinks at the table, even if they are unlimited, and do the same for the pancakes and pastries - set up a buffet area, which doesn't appear to have been arranged on two folding tables, and make it look more substantial (that's the whole point of a buffet, after all). As things stand, I think I would have been satisfied with my experience even if there hadn't been a buffet, at the same price. But since there was one, and it wasn't up to par, my experience is tainted. I wouldn't recommend this brunch to anyone I know.

08/09/2026: Very good! Unfortunately, they only make pizzas from the food truck starting at 7:00 PM. The staff is very friendly!

30/08/2026: I ordered a Margherita pizza, the wait time was very reasonable and the pizza was amazing. I haven't found better in the Locle area, I highly recommend it.
