28/12/2025: I highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered takeaway menus for December 25th and we weren't disappointed from start to finish. Quality homemade products, generous portions per person, an incredible welcome and excellent service – it's rare these days to find such a good restaurant at a very affordable price, the menu at €35, so go for it without hesitation!

08/08/2026: The setting (terrace) and the service are impeccable. The chicken liver pâté is exceptional, absolutely divine. I had some doubts about the frozen frogs' legs. They're very good for frozen frogs' legs, but incomparable to fresh frogs' legs for purists and lovers of Dombes frogs' legs. Regarding the price, it seems excessive for frozen food. I discussed this with the chef, who was kind enough to come and see us at our table. Overall, a good time, but it's important to clearly state on the menus that the frogs' legs are frozen. Customers should be informed. Thierry D

27/08/2026: A wonderful discovery in Bourg-en-Bresse: "La Maison des Jacobins!" This restaurant is ideally located and boasts a superb outdoor terrace, pleasantly shaded by parasols, with a charming fountain in the square and the gentle sound of flowing water. The welcome is warm and friendly. All the servers are very attentive, kind, and caring. I was accompanied by someone with reduced mobility, and there were no access problems whatsoever, whether in an electric or manual wheelchair. As for the food, it was a real treat! My colleague opted for the Bresse chicken with morel sauce and new potatoes, while I chose the dish of the day, a heart-shaped meat dish – "EXCELLENT!" I highly recommend La Maison des Jacobins, both for the quality of its menu and, above all, for the kindness and attentiveness of the entire team. 👏😊

01/07/2026: The restaurant was pleasant, but we were very disappointed with the food and surprised by the quality of a restaurant run by a master chef! The "chicken in cream sauce" with a morel mushroom supplement was simply roast chicken with a sauce poured over it. There seems to be a problem with the naming convention. The desserts were limited and unremarkable, even though it was peak strawberry season and there wasn't a single strawberry dessert available. Considering the price, I wouldn't recommend it.

16/06/2026: Nice setting, smiling staff, generous portions, but the side dishes could use a modern update, and the cooking needs improvement. A restaurant for regulars, we'd say... Price range is quite high.

26/06/2026: This is the best couscous in France! And it's true! I love couscous, I try couscous restaurants in every French city, and I've never found one this good! Go there, you won't be disappointed, and you'll be served by lovely people.

05/05/2026: A stop at this restaurant before catching a train at the station across the street was a very pleasant surprise! The value for money is outstanding, the drinks and food are excellent (vegetarian options available), and the 60s/70s ambiance gives this place a special atmosphere. It's also run by volunteers who organize conferences and other events! In short, a stop I highly recommend if you're passing through Bourg-en-Bresse.
