Restaurant du Pont, France
Saint-Didier-Sur-Chalaronne
26/07/2026: A very pleasant meal on the banks of the Saône. Excellent.
23/07/2026: I've always been disappointed by touristy restaurants with beautiful waterfront views, but this place pleasantly surprised me.
The homemade foie gras, offered even in summer, is excellent. The roast duck, a generous portion (more than half a breast), was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The boneless chicken with morel cream sauce was also excellent, with a light and well-balanced sauce.
We didn't order cheese, as the meal was already very substantial. The only slight drawback was the rather limited selection of desserts.

06/06/2026: Excellent, I highly recommend this little restaurant. I got takeout beef satay with vegetable noodles, it was delicious.

05/08/2026: Even better than in 2022. Bravo! 👏🏼 From aperitif to dessert, in a word, PERFECT.
Not only is the setting magnificent, but the cuisine is even more so.
And as a bonus, Emeric's service is impeccable, with his style, attentiveness, and humor.

09/08/2026: I have been passing by this restaurant for so many years now and I have never tried it, and yesterday I did and I was really happy with the result, it was just one menu but the food was great and the service was excellent.
I do recommend it.
31/07/2026: Perfect taste, impeccable technique. You eat first with your eyes, and then with the flavors and textures, every bite is magical. The restaurant is well-kept, and conversation is easy because the seating capacity is large. It's a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Family-run, an added bonus. Excellent wine cellar. In the summer, you can enjoy a beautiful terrace! A 10+ rating.

21/07/2026: Excellent brasserie! The servers were very attentive from the moment we arrived, the cuisine was truly sophisticated yet simple, the vegetables were cooked to perfection (which is rare), and the dishes, from appetizer to dessert, were a delight! Fresh, local produce... it was perfect!

Pizzeria Le 6
Pont-D'Ain
02/04/2026: We stopped here on our way to our holiday destination. Great place, nicely decorated, and something for everyone. Especially the amazing ravioli gratin!
A lovely little spot with great service and good home-style cooking. We'll be back this summer to try out the large terrace.
25/03/2026: There are places you return to without really thinking about it. And others you return to with more specific expectations. Here, I came back with this simple idea: to share a good time, without seeking more than what the place promises.
It was a Friday evening, March 20th, around 7:30 pm. I went with my girlfriend, and we settled inside, in the middle of the room, just before the steps. A lively place, buzzing with the activity of the staff, where you immediately sense that the evening will be lively. It was full, a little noisy, but in keeping with the energy of the start of the weekend. Nothing disruptive, just life.
The welcome was pleasant, sincere, and efficient. Perhaps a little direct at the outset—we were quickly asked if we had a reservation—but the intention was good.
After that, everything flowed smoothly. The interactions were straightforward, the answers precise, and you could tell the establishment knew its rhythm.
The service is fast. Very fast, in fact. The drinks arrive almost as soon as I order them, to the point that I didn't even have time to change my mind.
And the pizza follows right after, in less than ten minutes. It's efficient, without any hesitation. The food is serious.
I ordered a Saint-Marcellin, my partner a four-cheese. The crust is thin, well-cooked, and easy to cut—this detail matters more than you might think. The first bites are clean: crispy, melt-in-your-mouth, and perfectly balanced. The flavor is definitely there. A pizza that doesn't try to impress, but simply does what it wants, and does it well.
Then, as you eat more, something changes. The crust becomes moister, more pliable, almost too much so, with a slightly chewy texture in the second half. I had also added a generous amount of chili oil, which probably accentuated this effect. Nothing inherently wrong, but a detail that, for me, makes the difference between a very good pizza... and one that's perfectly maintained from start to finish.
The rest is just as good. Impeccable cleanliness, right down to the restrooms. Decent comfort despite the crowds. Everything is clean, well-kept, with no apparent flaws. You simply have a good time.
However, there are those little moments that, without ruining the experience, add a touch of nuance. A dessert suggestion, for example, repeated one time too many, even though the answer had already been given. Nothing serious, just a slight disconnect between attentiveness and insistence.
And then a more striking moment, when it was time to leave. I had planned to come back after dropping my girlfriend off, to extend the evening and pay for everything at once. A simple intention, explained calmly. But it went unanswered. A silence, a glance, a perceptible hesitation. Not a refusal, not an acceptance – just a lack of stance. It's a small detail, but a telling one. Especially in a place where, on the same evening, I saw several customers step outside for some fresh air and return without anyone batting an eye. Nothing unfair in itself, just a sense of ambiguity. And in those moments, a simple "yes" or "no" is often enough to maintain the balance. I paid, of course. Then I came back, as planned.
The evening continued without a hitch. And ultimately, it doesn't detract from the main point: we had a good time.
I always keep in mind that nothing is set in stone. A place is judged over time, on its consistency, on its ability to refine those little details that aren't immediately obvious to everyone, but which build a truly memorable experience. Here, the foundation is solid. And that's precisely why these nuances deserve to be fine-tuned.
Today, I'm giving it 4 stars. Because it's very good, sincere, well-executed—with room to become truly remarkable.
Simple things, when done well, remain the most memorable.

Restaurant du Parc
Versailleux
02/08/2026: A wonderful discovery that I'm happy to share. A small, friendly restaurant, just the way we like them, with homemade food, very generous portions, and absolutely delicious. Fresh frogs' legs served in a pan with a potato gratin. Numerous homemade desserts (the nougat glacé is divine). As you can tell, I highly recommend it. Open on Sundays.
25/07/2026: A truly delightful time shared with a couple of friends from Bourg-en-Bresse. The owner's warm welcome and impeccable service.
A traditional meal with frogs' legs: grilled to perfection! A real treat!
Discovered an amazing "non-alcoholic Martini"!
A perk of getting older: no more alcohol or fizzy drinks.
A friendly and relaxing atmosphere! A must-try if you haven't already!

Le Saint Rémens
Saint-Maurice-De-Remens
26/07/2026: Very good, beautiful presentation of my lamb shank, and very tasty with the vegetables and dauphinoise potatoes.
Top-notch welcome and service.
Smiles and kindness from these three young women today, July 26, 2026, 12:00 PM.
The frog legs for my mother were fantastic; she had been dreaming of them for years, and she thoroughly enjoyed them. Not dry like one Thursday evening when we came for the all-you-can-eat frog legs, and unfortunately, they were overcooked and therefore dry. Not today, though; they were excellent, having tasted them as well.
We recommend St. Remens. 👌 Very reasonable prices for three.
I've posted photos.
25/07/2026: A very friendly welcome, a lovely terrace, and a truly excellent menu – what more could you ask for? A really great time and a very good restaurant.

La Fermer de Retord

29/05/2026: Lovely spot! I hiked in for lunch - an easy walk (3km-ish). Great food and great hosts and a very relaxing activity on a nice day.
14/05/2026: A peaceful place far from everything. This was our last stop on the GTJ (Grande Traversée du Jura) for my son and me. The welcome was perfect. We were able to store our bikes safely. We stayed in a small twin room. Everything was clean. Our host was available, welcoming, and kind. We played board games while a storm broke outside. The evening meal was simply delicious! The hearty breakfast was exactly what we needed to set off again in top form. We will return if the opportunity arises.
