The customer service is inconsistent; a smile one day, then nothing much the next, whether it's the morning or afternoon shift. I often get the feeling I'm bothering her, and she rarely makes eye contact, which is very disappointing. The bakery is quite expensive for what you get. Their only redeeming quality is their excellent sourdough baguettes, and that's the main reason I go there.

We ordered Tellines clams in a delicate garlic sauce as a starter, followed by bull stew, and for dessert, red berry panna cotta with a good bottle of rosé and coffee. The service is perfect; the owner is very kind, as are the smiling and very pleasant waitresses. Highly recommended. The icing on the cake was that we came simply for a visit today, and since it's a festive weekend, we were treated to a group of Gypsy guitarists and singers. Absolutely fantastic!

Chez Boisset is a Saintes institution; the food is excellent, and there's live music even out of season. I've always had a great time there, and the servers are very friendly and, above all, professional. This restaurant could easily cater to transient customers, but it doesn't. I highly recommend it.
