18/08/2024: This is a really lovely little restaurant bursting with charm and character, and much nicer than many of the larger and more commercial options at the mountain top. There's only one option on the regular menu but it is a good one - potato fritters, with dried meat and some very interesting locally made cheeses, and a small salad. The food was excellent. The tiny kitchen and very small menu mean you may struggle a bit if you have dietary restrictions, but if you are happy with local cheeses and meats you can't go wrong here. It's a very small place, maybe 20 seats inside and a similar number outside, and the inside with its open kitchen and cosy fireplace very much has the feel of a family house rather than a restaurant. On the terrace you have amazing views, and the accompaniment of the bells of the herd of cows who live in the field next door. Service is friendly and personable, and we were also offered a digestif on the house at the end of the meal. It's maybe a 15 minute walk from the Mont d'Arbois cable car, a bit further than the most of the other options - but overall it is well worth the detour.

30/08/2024: Fantastic stay at Gai Soleil. The owners are warm and welcoming. Be sure to leave room for their delicious dinner. We enjoyed drinks in their garden bar, perfect for a post hike pick me up. Super comfortable beds. I hope to stay here again one day! Merci pour la visite.

24/09/2024: Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Le Matafan last week! I didn't even know the head chef Mickey Bourdillat has a Michelin star from his previous restaurant! The wait staff were attentive and the food incredible. Definitely our favourite dinner in Chamonix!! Bravo!

11/09/2024: Today we took advantage of a gift voucher for a discovery menu. The voucher was given to the restaurant reception upon our arrival (young girl with ponytail). At the start we were told that drinks were not included. First incident when we ask for the bill, we are asked to......pay for everything (what about the gift voucher?). Once rectified, we pay for the drinks and collect the voucher. In the surprise car, we see that drinks (excluding wine) are included on the Voucher! Return to the checkout where the person does not seem bored, does not say a word of apology, and does not forget to mention that "no ma'am, beer is not included"....probably dreading doing so. a commercial gesture despite all these errors. Enough to be disappointed and not want to recommend this establishment! Hello, I just read your answer, I do not agree as soon as we arrived I gave the voucher to the person who kept it at reception! I am outraged by the lack of frankness from the reception. I often go to restaurants with vouchers given to me by my daughter which I give upon arrival. I'm not a novice. It has nothing to do with the quality of the meal. For this reason alone I will no longer return to your establishment. It was at the exit that I claimed my voucher and I saw that the drinks listed were included, hence my second claim. The first time was the addition of the menus even though it was a gift from my daughter. Lack of organization of your staff. Otherwise there would be no mishaps as you stipulated. Bad times!!!!
