31/01/2026: I absolutely hated the fries. My hamburger came with boiled potatoes that had been deep-fried in oil that tasted like old, used, and expired oil. I think my comment about the potatoes didn't sit well with the owner, because she didn't even offer to replace them and insisted her frying oil was fine in front of other customers ordering the same thing. In any case, I found the taste awful and the potatoes inedible.

14/01/2026: The only thing it resembles with a Corsican restaurant is that they don't accept credit cards. The decor is unusual but pleasant, and there's a good atmosphere. The owner is friendly, however, the food is a complete disaster. The burger is a disaster; everything is mass-produced, with an industrial bun and a cheap frozen patty. The microwaved sautéed potatoes are soggy. Even the salad dressing doesn't seem homemade. The other dishes are the same: frozen vegetables and a supermarket-style soufflé. The desserts redeem things somewhat, but again, nothing Corsican. Don't trust the 5-star reviews from the owner's friends or family; as another reviewer says, leave this place to the regulars and stay away!

01/09/2026: I can only comment on the atmosphere, which is pleasant. It's spacious. However, the service is terrible. I don't understand if it was a deliberate policy to leave customers waiting and then casually walk past them with empty hands, giving them the once-over. Taking orders is chaotic: it's definitely not "first come, first served." And it's all the more infuriating when you wait twenty minutes after begging a waiter to show you the menu. I tried twice, in different seasons, and the restaurant was only a third full. They say "third time's the charm," but I'll make an exception to that rule.

01/09/2026: I left a review a few months ago with 2 stars (see below). I'm removing one star after yet another experience in this "bar nightmare" that this establishment has become: 15 minutes for someone to deign to take our order (the terrace was far from full in mid-August, a relatively quiet time of year), a waiter who seemed to be bothering us, and the icing on the cake: a 10-minute wait to pay at the bar (because, of course, no one would have come to take our money at the table). We were nice enough to wait for them to take our money; I doubt everyone has the same patience. There are plenty of good bars in Croix-Rousse, don't waste your time, you're clearly wasting theirs! SHAMEFUL! Review April 2026: What a shame! Chanteclair had finally become a nice bar again, and then disaster struck: new owners and it's a catastrophe... The beer selection is ridiculous and unoriginal (why remove the Karmeliet?), the servers are clueless (in fact, you can find the former ones working in other bars nearby), not unpleasant but clearly out of their depth, prices have gone up for smaller Spritzes, you have to go to the bar to pay (the bar is overflowing with dirty glasses...), and there's another 5-minute wait to pay even though we're the only ones there and there are four of them behind the bar! They're lucky to have this location, but it's a crime to use it so poorly.

03/09/2026: The place is really nice for finding some respite from the summer heat, as it's open to the breezes on the terrace. The platters are generous and the wine is good! The steak tartare is also very good 😎

01/09/2026: A price that's hard to justify given the services offered. The room itself is adequate and has a pleasant space for hosting, but the level of service falls far short of the price. There's no hotplate, no equipment for cooking or reheating food: only refrigerated storage. Dishes aren't provided either, forcing you to rent them elsewhere, which adds another expense. The overall condition also leaves much to be desired: cleanliness could be significantly improved, the equipment is aging, and several tables are broken or in poor condition. For a reception hall priced at this level, one clearly expects better. On top of that, they require cash payment for the deposit and cleaning fee, which isn't particularly reassuring or transparent when making a reservation. In short: a venue that could be interesting, but the value for money is clearly insufficient. Considering the equipment, the condition of the furniture, the cleanliness and the additional costs to be expected, the price seems frankly excessive to us.

13/08/2026: An excellent choice! The Rock Ad Café stands out for its fast and efficient service, while always offering a warm and professional welcome. The staff have a genuine sense of hospitality and service, a quality that is sadly becoming increasingly rare in restaurants today. The cuisine is simple, satisfying, and delicious, with a menu that changes with the seasons, which is a real plus! I highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of its welcome, service, and food. A place to discover and one you'll gladly return to!

01/03/2026: We didn't eat because the kitchen is closed on Saturday at lunchtime, but the barmaid kindly welcomed us with our pizzas. A friendly welcome, quick service, and a pleasant atmosphere.

04/09/2026: The setting is exceptional but largely spoiled by the appalling welcome from the managers. This most likely explains the complete emptiness of the place when we were there. A real shame. On paper, this place has everything going for it.

03/09/2026: I had booked a 30th birthday party a month in advance, as it was important to me that everything went smoothly. La Cour des Miracles cancelled my reservation two days before because they hadn't set up the terrace.

17/03/2026: We spent one night at the Hôtel L’Ermitage, and frankly, the current 3.9/5 rating on Google doesn't reflect our experience. We had booked the Belvédère room, which offers an absolutely incredible view of the Monts d’Or and Lyon. The setting is calm, peaceful, and truly magnificent—a real haven of tranquility. Upon arrival, we had a drink on the restaurant terrace, bathed in sunshine: a very pleasant way to start our stay. We then had the relaxation area to ourselves, allowing us to truly unwind, exactly what we were looking for. In the evening, we dined at the hotel restaurant: excellent cuisine, discreet and pleasant service. We had a wonderful evening. The next morning, breakfast was a very pleasant surprise: a well-organized buffet with a high-quality savory selection (which is quite rare and worth mentioning), featuring organic and seasonal products. The desserts were also excellent: pastries, delicious bread, praline brioche, organic products, and a superb homemade pear compote. We were able to enjoy the relaxation area one last time before our departure. The early check-out before noon is a real plus, allowing you to fully enjoy the morning. Of course, having a professional eye for the restaurant industry ourselves, we noticed a few imperfections, particularly regarding the cleanliness of the relaxation area (chewing gum and hair were found on the edge of the jacuzzi upon our arrival, and these hadn't been cleaned up by our departure). The facilities also show some signs of age. However, this didn't spoil our stay in any way. The staff was lovely from beginning to end, and the overall experience remains very positive. We loved our stay, so kudos to the team, and we will most likely be back next month.

14/03/2026: Quite disappointed by this otherwise well-known hotel. The reception wasn't very welcoming; the person was on the phone for at least five minutes without telling us they'd be there in a few minutes. The room was nice enough, but the floor wasn't clean, there was only one large towel for two people, and no phone to contact reception. The pool is tiny, with just two sun loungers practically next to each other, water everywhere, and no one to even mop it up. The spa was very nice! Breakfast was very good with a magnificent view, but forget about a friendly welcome and a smile from the staff—they must not be paid for that! Would I recommend it? No! There are so many better options elsewhere for the same price.
