09/03/2026: Pizzas ordered for takeout, the only positive point being "ready at the requested time." The pizza was stuck to the cardboard, the dough was practically nonexistent, as thin as a sheet of paper, and it tasted burnt... And the burrata on the pizza was rock hard. Go figure... Totally avoid.

28/11/2025: As always, never disappointed, yesterday I had a wonderful meal and I am always impressed by the warmth and quality of the products when we are served, even when it is takeaway, by the time we get home it is still piping hot.

20/12/2025: A charming hotel in the heart of Mercurey. A warm welcome, an immaculate room, and a delicious breakfast.

22/10/2025: We were passing through from Germany to Provence and planned to stay overnight at Mercurey (AirBNB). We happened upon the Hotellerie Val d'Or and stopped in for dinner. Luckily, we were early and got a table, as almost all the tables in the restaurant were reserved. The service was very attentive and prompt, the dishes delicious, and the wine selection outstanding. The cuisine was regional and seasonal and very accommodating to allergies and special requests. We felt completely at home and will stay at the Hotellerie du Val d'Or next time.

22/03/2026: To summarize my TripAdvisor review, our server pressured us throughout the meal to vacate the table by 9:30 PM, even though the service wasn't fast enough to allow for such a delay. Disgusted by the experience, we decided to skip dessert. Of course, we spoke to the owner, who preferred to blame his employee, even though the pressure most likely originated with him. The owner also offered us no compensation whatsoever. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I know a little about how things work, and it's not the servers who deliberately put on the pressure. What's really unfortunate is that all the other servers were incredibly friendly, and even ours seemed very relaxed with the other tables, and with us when he probably eased up at some point, likely after realizing the deadline was ruined. Ultimately, we're once again faced with a management style that prioritizes profit, but at no point should customers suffer due to the restaurant's poor planning, much less be pressured to leave and make room for the next customers. If the deadline wasn't met, it's because they were so overwhelmed that the owner had to start serving, something they should be able to anticipate if they're going to give such tight schedules. The two stars are there more to express dissatisfaction than to rate the restaurant. Go for the Potence, really. The rest of the menu is overpriced for the quality, in my opinion, but it's not bad either. Personally, I wouldn't go back. Next time I want kebabs, I'll make them myself on the barbecue; it'll be more cost-effective, just as good, and I'll have all the time in the world. PS: My apologies to the very friendly waitress who came to clear our table. She received an undeserved remark that was not directed at her.

22/03/2026: We ate at this restaurant for a friend's birthday, and we'll remember this experience with displeasure. We'd barely arrived at 7:00 PM when the waiter tactlessly and rudely informed us that the table would have to be vacated by 9:30 PM. He repeated this information, always without any warmth, throughout the entire meal! This wouldn't be a problem if they managed their own service properly. We were asked to order our appetizers and main courses at 7:40 PM, only to receive our appetizers at 8:10 PM. We had barely finished our meals at 9:20 PM when he appeared to tell us, "I don't mean to be rude, but it's almost 9:30 PM," only to return two minutes later, all smiles, because another table had become available and we could take our time. So, he ruined our evening for absolutely nothing! Not being satisfied, we decided to leave without dessert, and he even had the nerve to complain, "We did all this so they wouldn't order dessert." Spoiler alert: We owe you nothing but respect, which you yourself failed to show us from the moment we arrived. And just because you come back all smiles at the end of the evening doesn't erase your utterly unbearable behavior from our minds. This was my third time at this restaurant, which I already found quite expensive for the quality and dishes offered, but this experience has sealed my fate. You'll find plenty of other places in Chalon where you can eat for reasonable prices with impeccable service and a smile to boot!

10/03/2026: I'm going to tell you about this restaurant. I've been walking past it regularly for 17 years and I'd never dared to go in. But what a surprise! I wasn't expecting such a lovely, warm, and unique dining room. The young waiter was absolutely fantastic and attentive, the food was, in my opinion, close to three Michelin stars, and all at a very reasonable price. And I almost forgot the very wide selection of wines. So, don't hesitate if you're ever in the small village of Mazille in Saône-et-Loire. Go eat at L'Estaminet.

21/03/2026: We were looking for a friendly restaurant with generous portions. Le Dirose ticked all the boxes, and as a bonus, the service was attentive and always with a smile. Thank you for a wonderful experience! A special mention for the gratin, which was absolutely delicious, and the pâté looked incredible!

27/02/2026: My husband and I were lucky enough to eat at this bar-restaurant; it wasn't planned, and as is often the case, the unexpected turned out to be fantastic for us. The atmosphere was wonderful, taking us right back to our childhood and adolescence—a real old-fashioned bistro that was a real pleasure. No frills, just a genuinely warm and honest welcome. And then the meal... kudos to the cook! It was a delight, a treat, a heaven of good food. Honestly, bravo, we loved it. But the most adorable thing was little William—what a lovely family, in a lovely place with a lovely menu. We highly recommend it.
