25/04/2026: A shame. Beautiful place, very disappointing experience. I came for the views, and the location is spectacular, like a painting. The waiters were very friendly and attractive, and the service was attentive. That's where the good points ended. The food was very disappointing: mussels were practically empty, the seafood was low quality except for the oysters, which were decent. The crab was overcooked and cold. The side dishes were meager and uninspired. All the dishes were cold. The worst part: they allow dogs in the dining room, and it was uncomfortable. We heard barking throughout the entire meal. It completely ruined the atmosphere. It creates false expectations. Such a beautiful place deserves a kitchen to match. For now, I won't be back. Pros: Beautiful location, views, good service Cons: Cold food, poor seafood, empty mussels, constant barking

01/10/2025: It would be wise to update the information here on Google from time to time. We were looking forward to a lovely walk along the beach followed by a visit to the beach bar, but there's no such thing...

08/11/2025: We were looking for a good cassoulet and found the perfect place. It's listed on the menu as "cassoulet à ma façon" and it's spectacular. Served in a cocotte, it has a subtle smokiness when uncovered and delicious meats—especially the duck confit. We paired it with a red wine recommended by the waiter, the ideal match. 🍷 Thank you for such a rich and authentic experience.

04/05/2026: Experience the day before yesterday: Nothing good on our plates, tough steak (= shoe leather), same with chicken reduced to tough chicken breast, fries with the oldest oil, our worst experience.

21/04/2026: A lovely shaded terrace at the foot of the ramparts, yet sheltered from the tourist crowds. Quality tapas at reasonable prices.

20/10/2025: Chez Norbert is always a safe bet; it's friendly, and the quality is good. It's hopelessly overcrowded during peak season, and outside of peak season, the outdoor seating isn't quite as pleasant. But it always deserves four points!

19/04/2026: The €29 set menu was decent, but the main courses were a disaster: the mussels in cream sauce were completely tasteless—overcooked and lacking any flavor or seasoning. The substitute fish (no more sea bream, so we had pollock fillet) was also far too overcooked. The friendly waitress offered us a digestif, which we declined, and didn't charge extra for the peach melba (€2). One thing is for sure: we won't be back!

11/03/2026: We received a warm welcome from the owners and had a delightful evening. Authentic Réunion cuisine where the spices and flavors are expertly balanced: curry, kaffir lime, vanilla... As a bonus, a DJ/percussionist got us dancing to island music and songs. A truly wonderful evening! Nicole and Luc

12/04/2026: A very warm welcome and a truly cozy atmosphere, which is lovely. I ordered three large 40cm pizzas to take away. While the toppings tasted quite good, they unfortunately lacked generosity. The most disappointing aspect was the crust: despite the pizzas' generous size, the dough didn't seem fresh and was severely undercooked. Very white and with a cardboard-like texture, the experience was disappointing. It's a shame, but I don't think I'll be back...

10/05/2026: We went out for dinner to enjoy the city. There were nine of us. We were disappointed with the side salads, which were described as green salad and tomato but were actually just a single lettuce leaf with one cherry tomato. The duck breast was overcooked; we ordered it medium-rare, but it arrived very rare with a small handful of frozen fries. When we asked if we could have a few more fries to finish the duck breast, the waiter said it wasn't a problem... But there was a problem because the bill suddenly jumped to €6.90 for the portion, with the fries still cold, which hadn't been mentioned as an extra charge. When we pointed this out to the waiter, he told us that nothing was free and that if all the customers did as we did, it would be a loss. We mentioned that there were nine of us, and he simply replied that he had served other large tables of 11 and 14 people. When we told him that the charge hadn't been mentioned at all, and that if we had known it was extra, we wouldn't have ordered, he apologized and negotiated a 50% discount on the portion. We ended up spending €250. The children's menus consisted of frozen nuggets with the breadcrumbs falling off easily, and spaghetti Bolognese, which was already gone after three bites. Very meager for a menu costing almost €13. We had a vegetarian menu with a hamburger, chef's sauce, salad, tomato, and a veggie patty for €17.90. The person received a hamburger with a dry bun and a veggie patty, nothing else inside, along with a side of fries. We hesitated between this and another restaurant, but ultimately we should have gone with our first choice. Choosing a different restaurant might be more expensive, but it could be better quality.

19/11/2025: A brasserie-pizzeria, nothing special. Fortunately, it's well located in the heart of the village. But to rave about it...plus, everything is extra: €2.50 for pepper sauce, €1 for two dollops of whipped cream... Okay for eating, but not for savoring. The "cassoulet" special...a disaster! Very disappointed by the quality and quantity, especially for €25 a dish...we won't be back.
