18/11/2025: Superb performance by Jim Kahr, an exceptional bluesman! I can't say the same for the abominable food served that evening. A disaster sold at exorbitant prices. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I can't believe a real chef served us this horrible concoction, but the prices were exorbitant, and the owner waited for you and forced you to pay before the end of the evening. I've never seen anything like it! Avoid at all costs, and never mind the music!

13/01/2026: Excellent cuisine, the dishes are superb. The welcome and service are very professional. I highly recommend it! A second vegetarian option would be welcome, however.

10/01/2026: What a treat! The dishes were made with love, and the blend of flavors was sometimes surprising, but always perfectly complemented by the fresh ingredients. Our meal was a true delight. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing evening of fine dining.

16/02/2026: Restaurant serving traditional Alsatian cuisine. Excellent meal, top-notch service. The clientele was a bit too noisy for our liking that evening.

16/02/2026: Dinner with friends last night; out of four adults, three of us ate tarte flambée. Three of us were sick during the night and this morning. The fourth person was fine and ate something else. The waiter was very condescending and unpleasant. The waitress was discreet and smiling. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Avoid tarte flambée.

01/02/2026: I tried a second time, and was disappointed again! Microwaved roast potatoes, poor quality ham, and outrageous prices! For me, Coucou des Bois is FINISHED!!!

17/10/2025: Good evening, we ordered four tartes flambées. I've never eaten such crappy tartes flambées. They have no flavor, everything is thinly sliced ​​(you can't taste anything, so avoid it). You can eat any tarte flambée, everything is bland. I don't recommend it at all. I paid 50 euros, while my neighbor makes better tartes!! Slim tarte flambées, I paid XXL. 14 euros for that.

09/11/2025: This morning I thought, for a change, I'll go to their place. I see fruit bread for almost €20 a kilo. Strangely, I don't see any fruit on top of the bread. I ask him, "Are you sure it's fruit bread?" "Yes, yes." I think the picture speaks for itself. ... I assume, of course, that it's not the same price as the seeded bread, not to mention the anorexic-looking Menele.

31/05/2025: We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The restaurant food is excellent. The service provided by the entire staff is high-quality yet friendly. The setting is charming. The proximity to Strasbourg is a plus. We recommend this establishment.

01/02/2026: A typical Alsatian spot, the ham hock with Picon was really quite good. Traditional cuisine; a few dishes are missing from the menu, but it does the job. There were 18 of us, and the service was efficient, which is worth noting.

31/01/2026: The portion sizes need improvement… The tarte flambée is disappointing if it's not wood-fired. The chocolate mousse is more whipped cream than chocolate. A shame. The service was impeccable; the waiter was attentive, kind, and efficient.

22/02/2026: Very good experience. I arrived early to avoid crowds. By the time I finished my 2 course lunch, the place had totally filled up. Having lived in France as a child, I experienced the similar tastes I had craved for and could never find elsewhere. Especially in a dish like tripes à la mode de Caen. Well done. And priced honestly. Overall very pleased.

22/02/2026: We visited the restaurant on a recommendation. It was fully booked, but despite that, we didn't have to wait long. Our order was taken quickly and served within 15 minutes. We didn't order anything we were advised not to order. The only thing we didn't really like was the escargot. What we did order was very tasty. The dishes are simple but very tasty. And the prices are quite reasonable. I highly recommend it.

29/10/2025: A disappointment! At lunchtime, the "Alsatian ravioli + starter" set menu is advertised at €16. UNLESS you choose the vegetarian version (and even then, without the starter), in which case the bill is much higher: €19.50. It's unacceptable to pay an extra €3.50 for ravioli made with processed vegetables! It's completely inappropriate.

The portions were generous, with beautiful cuts of meat that were perfectly sauced and served with a generous amount of fries. The desserts were also very generous. The prices are high, especially for the desserts, but they are justified by the quality and quantity of the food. We will be back.
