09/08/2026: The meal was excellent, and the welcome was friendlier than last time. Just a quick note about the dessert menu: it's not very extensive, which is a shame because I have a lactose intolerance issue, and there wasn't a large selection of sorbet to compensate for the rest of the menu.

30/08/2026: A magnificent Alsatian discovery! I highly recommend the Auberge du Cerf. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is warm, cozy, and authentic, perfect for a truly enjoyable stay. As for the food, the Alsatian specialties are absolutely delicious, generous, and perfectly executed. Everything is flavorful, from the main course to the dessert. The service is also impeccable. A must-visit if you're looking for quality and a friendly atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

23/02/2026: We enjoyed authentic brasserie fare, generous and traditional, just the way we like it. The Danish-style herring was impeccably fresh, subtly complemented by grapefruit and apple—a beautiful balance. The liver dumplings and pig's trotter were genuine, flavorful, dishes with character that truly delighted the palate. Special mention goes to the sorbets drizzled with Gewurztraminer marc and the authentic crème brûlée, perfectly caramelized. The welcome was warm, and we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The whole family enjoyed it, and the children ate very well too. We highly recommend it!

24/04/2026: We only went to the Auberge restaurant for dinner. Here in Scherwiller, about 20 minutes from Colmar, they offer upscale, sometimes outstanding, country-style cuisine, which means even more in Alsace than in Germany. We treated ourselves to a set menu with accompanying wines, while our daughter had some difficulty finding something suitable on the à la carte menu. Visually, everything was Michelin-star quality (see photos). The amuse-bouche (homemade bread, a creamy soup with garnish) was a fantastic start. The appetizers were homemade foie gras and cured salmon accompanied by a complementary cream that resembled a sorbet. The main course was filet mignon, one with an excellent escalope de foie gras, the other with spaetzle. The only criticism was that the meat might not have been cut against the grain. This didn't detract from the taste, but the texture was noticeably too firm. My daughter chose fish, possibly cod in an excellent saffron mushroom sauce; I can't quite recall the exact type. Hopefully, we'll reap the rewards of this culinary education someday. For dessert, we had a meringue on a berry sauce, and the second one, a sorbet hidden beneath a praline topping, served in a perfectly matched cream. The wine pairing was superb. I'll definitely be buying one or two of them for myself. All in all, thanks in large part to the incredibly friendly service and inviting atmosphere, it was a delightful excursion into the rural Alsatian gourmet scene.

13/03/2026: As part of the restaurant's festive events, the menu item at Kastelberg was described as: "Celery ravioli with mushroom duxelles, finely shredded smoked eel in a vibrant ginger broth." The dish I received contained only two slices of celery sandwiched between other vegetables. When I asked where the shredded eel was, I was bluntly told that it was cooked in the broth. In that case, the more accurate description would be "eel-infused broth," not "shredded eel in broth." The description clearly implies the presence of fish on the plate. No compensation or alternative was offered, leaving a distinct impression of false advertising and a misleading description of the final product. It's a shame, because the main course was decent, and the average dessert resembled a piece of mass-produced fruit mousse cake. Edible, but nothing special; I didn't detect the promised cardamom flavor. Overall, I was disappointed by this restaurant for the first time.

07/08/2026: Very disappointed since the change of ownership. We've been twice since the change of ownership and, unfortunately, the disappointment is the same each time. The service clearly lacks warmth and attentiveness. One of the waitresses was particularly cold, rarely smiling, and quite curt in her interactions, which really doesn't make you want to come back. Fortunately, the other waitress tries to make up for it with her smile, kindness, and much more pleasant attitude. That's appreciated, but unfortunately, it's not enough to make up for the rest. As for the food, it's not much better. I ordered a summer salad, and the smoked ham had simply been forgotten. I had to ask for it. Regarding the children's menu at €9.90, serving one and a half nuggets with a tiny portion of fries is frankly outrageous. At that price, you'd expect a slightly more substantial portion. Another detail: the waitress offered us bread, which we accepted, but it never arrived. These may seem like minor details, but taken together, they give the impression of a service that lacks attention and professionalism. In short, after two disappointing visits, the conclusion is unfortunately the same. We had known this establishment before the change of ownership, and the difference is quite striking. It's a shame, because they could have done so much better. As for us, we won't be returning.
