10/05/2026: My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout France, getting to know and appreciate many hotels, campsites, and restaurants. Thanks to our town twinning partnership, Alsace holds a special place in our hearts, and we've had the opportunity to experience much of the region's traditions and culinary delights. My wife's French has served us very well so far, and communication has always gone smoothly. So, we thought we'd take our children on a lovely weekend trip to Alsace. We booked five double rooms for two nights, one with half-board and one with breakfast only. But we've never experienced anything like this in any hotel or restaurant! Reception: The welcome upon arrival was friendly and in French, and communication was straightforward. There was a sign on the counter indicating that French, English, and German were spoken there. Upon departure, we were charged for three nights instead of two: one with half-board (correct) and two without (incorrect). We were initially overcharged by €443. During our attempt to clarify the situation, my wife's French suddenly proved insufficient for the receptionist. The young woman couldn't speak German, and we resorted to using Google Translate for English. After much back and forth, the overcharged night was finally corrected, but to this day we haven't received an answer as to why the same room cost €91 and €96 per night, respectively. Room: Our room was clean, but the furnishings were dated and there was no air conditioning. The bathroom was small, with a shower and sink, no natural light, and the only light source was a small lamp by the sink. A hairdryer was provided. The toilet was in a small cubicle next to the bed, the ventilation didn't work properly, and it smelled musty. The door wouldn't open properly because the bed was in front of it. We could hear everything from the neighboring toilet. There was no bottled water provided in our room, and the refrigerator contained only a disused glass. Food: For our half-board dinner, we had no choice of menu items. We weren't consulted beforehand, nor were we asked if everyone ate meat or sausage. Once everyone was seated at the table, the menu wasn't presented to us. There was no non-alcoholic drinks menu on the table, and it wasn't provided until we asked for one. We were served small rolls and pretzels, but without butter or dip. The main course was the Alsatian specialty, Choucroute garnie. An alternative had to be improvised for our two vegetarians upon request. The sauerkraut had an overpowering caraway flavor; it was dry, not creamy, and I missed the tangy notes. The potatoes tasted watery and lacked flavor; there was no trace of salt or other seasoning. The sausage was bland, the skin was tough, and the quality was disappointing. The meat was acceptable. The cheese platter didn't include any chutney or fruit like grapes. The service at our table left much to be desired. We complained about the food that same evening, first in French, then in English, and afterwards a woman who spoke German came and apologized. Breakfast was served from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The buffet looked promising and offered a wide selection. There were eggs that we had to cook ourselves; it was best to stay with us so that no one else unknowingly took one. On Sunday, there were no more eggs available by 8:00 a.m. No other egg dishes were offered. The cold cuts were of good quality. On Saturday, the cold cuts platter was empty by 8:45 a.m., even though new breakfast guests were still arriving. It was only refilled after we asked for more. The swimming pool was good and clean. The Wi-Fi reception was good throughout the entire property.

13/07/2026: The website is appealing. The food is sophisticated and flavorful. Summer isn't the best time to dine at this restaurant. There's no effective air conditioning inside, and the courtyard quickly becomes an oven.

22/07/2026: I visited on a solo trip. I wanted to eat tarte flambée, so I decided on Chappy's recommendation. I ordered a small salad, but it was very filling and incredibly delicious! I ordered a Riesling wine. I had to wait quite a while for the bill to be brought to my table after asking for it. It's best to come with plenty of time and patience.

26/05/2026: A lovely restaurant located a little outside of town on a hill. Beautiful terrace overlooking a small pond. Delicious food – reasonable prices. They have a separate children's menu. The waiter was very friendly.

20/07/2026: We had dined at this restaurant before and had fond memories of it. Unfortunately, this latest experience was very disappointing. When we made our reservation, we requested a table on the terrace. As it had rained the day before, the restaurant refused to set up a table outside (the tablecloths are laid the night before!). Upon arrival, despite the sunshine, we were seated in a room with two groups, one of which was very noisy. There were four of us, and it was virtually impossible to hear each other because of the high noise level. Even the waitress had to raise her voice to take our order. We mentioned this to the owner. Of course, she isn't responsible for the behavior of other customers, but we would have appreciated more understanding and tact. Her response seemed condescending, which was even more disappointing than the noise itself. We believe it's unwise to place a small table for four between two large groups, especially since there is another room with smaller tables that is much quieter. We should add that our reservation was made on Wednesday morning, so it wasn't last minute. As for the food, the meal was generally very good. Only the foie gras disappointed us, as it was served far too soft. It's a shame, because on our previous visits, the owner had been pleasant. However, we noticed that her attitude changed as soon as a problem was pointed out to her. We therefore left with mixed feelings: good food, but a welcome and handling of customer feedback that could be improved. We expected more understanding for meals costing over 90 euros per person. A small gesture, like a complimentary coffee, could have mitigated the negative experience. We are not regular customers, but we will not be returning.

30/05/2026: We've been coming to the flea market every year for the past 10 years, and sometimes to the restaurant. Coming from Besançon, we always receive a warm and friendly welcome. During the rhubarb festival, as I'm disabled, there's always a space available in the private parking lot. The fried food, whether served on a plate or in a paper cone, is excellent. In short, it's a very welcoming place ❤️.

01/08/2026: We booked for six and were warmly welcomed. The food was delicious, but the wait was quite long, especially between main courses. One family member got their crepe ten minutes later, another person waited, and so on. It was rather annoying, but overall the restaurant is good. I recommend it, but especially for patient people.

27/06/2026: La Crêperie des Hussards, a wonderful discovery. A warm and friendly welcome, savory buckwheat crepes filled with everything you could want and in just the right amount. They offer an Italian and an Alpine crepe, plus a sweet crepe called the Dôme. Simply perfect. A little tip: once a month on Tuesday evenings, there's a small Irish music group, the Chums.

The service was exceptional, not only because of the professionalism but especially because of the kindness of the staff. 10/08/2026: Passing through the region, we loved the village (our favorite spot of the week in Alsace). We were then warmly welcomed at this restaurant by the waiter and, I assume, the owner, with whom we had a chance to chat. We and our little boy enjoyed our meal very much.
