06/09/2024: A regrettable experience. I have read many reviews about this store before, and it looks like an authentic Moroccan family restaurant. I arrived at the store at 13:00 on Friday afternoon and ordered the mutton tagine. The mutton had a faint fishy smell, the meat quality was not ideal, and the amount of meat was too small. The fruit didn't have just a hint of sourness or sweetness, there was no fruity aroma, and there was no connection in flavoring between the ingredients in the entire tagine. Maybe this restaurant is famous for its couscous, but the tagine is also a classic dish after all, so it really shouldn't be made like this. In other respects, I don't know why there is no dessert on the menu, but when I finished paying and leaving the store, I saw other customers enjoying their desserts. Also, I'm not sure if other Moroccan restaurants only serve tagine on its own, at least the one I had today only had a solitary tagine, whereas I saw other reviews that at least had it with bread or something.

19/09/2024: This is the first review of Google Maps. I visited because Chatgpt recommended it. They didn't give me a fork or water for over 10 minutes after I ordered. I felt very bad and asked for water as they had not given it to me. I was asked if I wanted natural or sparkling, so I chose non-carbonated natural. Later, I found out that the water cost 5 euros and I appealed, saying, "It's not the water I wanted," but they continued to charge me. Since my child was next to me, I just endured it and came out. In conclusion, this was the worst restaurant I've been to in Europe for over a month.

10/09/2024: La Couronne may be the oldest restaurant in France but under its current management it owns a different reputation: that of horrible dining experiences. Ours could not have been worse: we were a large group (30) and had secured a reservation (which was confirmed by the restaurant!) months in advance. When we arrived, however, the lady claimed there was no such thing. We were told to come back an hour later. Without alternative options on a Saturday night in Rouen, we had to accept. When we returned, we found our table was not set, the menu was shrunk to only 2 options for entree, main and dessert. It went downhill from there rapidly: the entrees appeared before any water or wine was on the table; bread rolls came after the entrees and were placed directly on the table. Their plates, along with rock solid butter arrived midway during the mains. But the worst was yet to come: at 12.30 we were still sitting at the uncleared table, awaiting dessert that never came. We went downstairs to settle the bill and leave. What then ensued was a blatant disregard for customers and staff alike. The bill included the original number of guests on the reservation (that they claimed earlier didn't exist), and we were expected to pay for the 7 people who had decided to not join when the dinner time was pushed by a good hour. When we refused, a shouting match left us all reeling, even more so when they called the police on our group. I have never, ever experienced anything even remotely close to the dining hell La Couronne, a reputed restaurant that allegedly inspired Julia Child to pursue a career in French cooking, put us through. If management treats their customers like that, I dread to think how they treat their staff. In summary, every previous owner of this ancient establishment must surely be rolling over in their graves.
