We had the pleasure of a romantic dinner at the restaurant "Les Bons Enfants" in Bourg-en-Bresse, and it was an absolutely memorable experience from beginning to end. If you're looking for an authentic restaurant in the Ain region, look no further, this is the place to go! From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the lovely terrace. Nicely shaded and inviting, it offers the perfect setting for a relaxed meal. The overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and you immediately sense that it's a favorite with both locals and passersby. The service was extraordinary, largely thanks to our waitress, a true gem! She was always running around, making sure everyone was happy, always with a smile. She jokingly referred to herself as "clumsy," but in reality, she was exceptionally professional and kind. Charming from start to finish, she made this moment even more special with her infectious good humor. As for the food, it was absolutely flawless. The promise of "homemade" was brilliantly fulfilled. The savory dishes were flavorful and generous, but it was the desserts that truly transported us. Intensely fresh and delicate, they brought the meal to an unforgettable close. You could taste the passion and expertise in every bite. As luck would have it, we were seated next to a very friendly Dutch couple, which added a delightful touch of conversation and conviviality to our lunch. 17/10/2026: One key element that convinces me the entire menu is delicious is the pizza dough. I ate in and was able to bite into my pizza fresh from the oven: a real treat. Even the last slices, which had cooled down by the time I reached for them, remained pleasantly soft. Very high quality. A warm welcome, the team has a real sense of service, the residents of Ambarès are very lucky to have this pizzeria in their town!

30/09/2026: I stumbled upon this restaurant completely by chance during a business trip, and what a delightful surprise! It feels like time has stood still here: the restaurant has retained its original charm, but that's precisely what makes it so appealing. The staff are incredibly kind, always smiling, polite, and genuinely friendly. And the food is just as good! The chicken with Comté sauce and homemade dauphinoise potatoes was simply excellent. It was a generous portion, very well prepared, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This unique place is definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend it!

06/10/2026: A pleasant surprise! This unassuming restaurant has a superb terrace inside, exquisite dishes, divine hash browns, succulent meats, and magnificent desserts (for the price). The chef clearly knows his craft, the waitress and apprentice are incredibly welcoming, and the owner is very friendly. Highly recommended, because in a touristy village like Pérouges, you wouldn't expect such reasonable prices and exceptional quality.

05/10/2026: Don't bother coming here for a coffee; you'll be treated badly. The welcome was terrible; we clearly bothered them. "They set up shop for 15 euros for 10 people," they said behind our backs. It doesn't seem to matter to these people. We just wanted a coffee after our picnic. Keep walking; there are other cafes nearby. Politeness isn't their strong point either; a simple "goodbye" or "have a nice day" is hardly necessary. Very disappointed.

We had a fantastic time, and my only suggestion is that outdoor seating at lunchtime would have been perfect, but unfortunately, it wasn't allowed. With such a view and such beautiful weather, it's a shame. In any case, it's expensive, but worth every penny.
