20/09/2026: A truly beautiful place. The decor is stunning. A very warm welcome. The staff were attentive, smiling, and pleasant. The presentation of the dishes was superb, and the taste was excellent. We had a wonderful time. Thank you!

20/09/2026: In the heart of a magnificent Vosges forest, we discovered a charming Alsatian inn, well worth a reservation. The atmosphere is welcoming and the decor is tasteful. The dishes are cooked and presented with care. We particularly enjoyed the meats accompanied by seasonal vegetables and fries. The plum tart is excellent, and for those with a sweet tooth, I highly recommend the profiteroles; the chocolate topping is worth the trip alone. A large terrace allows you to dine al fresco, with a view of the Alsace plain. Finally, a restaurant that makes you want to return!

A huge thank you to the whole team for their kindness and their consistently attentive and caring service. You feel right at home there; it's pure bliss every time!

02/10/2026: Finally, a nice restaurant in St. Louis where the kitchen is open after 2 pm! Good food and good wines. Service is okay (depending on the day), sometimes minor adjustments are needed depending on the staff and the number of customers. Very good atmosphere. Almost 5 stars.

07/09/2026: We went there for dinner on the evening of September 5th. Since the ordered Baeckeoffe was unfortunately served without meat, we politely inquired. The owners' reaction was beyond rude and arrogant. We have never before experienced such terrible service in a restaurant. And this despite having been there many times before. We think there's a new owner, and we wish them exactly what they deserve. That way, the chances are high that we'll be able to dine there again soon. At the moment, we can only advise against visiting! Disgusting!

05/06/2026: We've eaten at L'AO three times already. Each time, we were pleasantly surprised by the menu selection. Every course is exquisite. They cook superbly with fantastic ingredients. Although L'AO is off the beaten tourist track, it's well worth the slight detour in every respect. The prices are also very fair overall, including the well-thought-out wine list. The restaurant also offers comfortable rooms for overnight stays. For us, L'AO is always a highlight among the many restaurants in southern Alsace.

25/08/2026: A must-visit restaurant in Guebwiller, renowned for its cuisine, ambiance, and service. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the garden and bamboo grove, especially after a leisurely stroll. Reservations are recommended.

24/08/2026: Traditional cuisine and flavorful, generous, and beautifully presented dishes, with two side dishes included. The beer and honey roasted pork knuckle was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the original beer and honey sauce complemented it perfectly. The ice cream sundaes were as beautiful as they were delicious. The staff was attentive, helpful, and smiling. The shaded garden provided a very pleasant green setting, and the good spacing between tables ensured a peaceful atmosphere, despite the presence of two large groups celebrating birthdays. The prices are very reasonable for the excellent quality. Parking is very easy thanks to the free customer parking lot.

23/08/2026: What a disappointment! We come every year after our holidays. Until now, we were very happy and looked forward to this meal. This year, we want to share our disappointment. The meringue dessert is no longer the beautiful dish served with pride; it's ice cream with two industrially produced meringue cookies and some crème fraîche. The potée marcaire (a traditional Provençal stew) is not as good as it used to be (but still good). The waiter seemed determined that we each had a coffee and was condescending when we tried to remember the name of the liqueur they introduced us to the previous year. What really dampened our spirits and caused this disappointment was when we paid the bill: we were told that we had been charged for four portions of sautéed potatoes instead of two "because there were a lot and four of you were eating them." In short, he wasn't happy that our son only ate that portion of potatoes and not another dish. We were so surprised we were speechless... in short, it's still a good place, but it doesn't deserve the same level of praise as before. A shame. We might come back, but next year we'll try somewhere else.

18/05/2026: A wonderfully run small hotel with newly renovated rooms and very comfortable beds, right in the center of Turckheim, and featuring an excellent restaurant. Every course of the menu was a pure delight; you can order perfectly paired wines, which further enhances the experience. Perfect service, very good breakfast. Wonderfully quiet at night. The train station is only 400 meters away. Free parking is available Friday through Wednesday at the Place de la Republique, 300 meters away.

06/09/2026: Superb. Go here when you are in Alsace. Food: We ordered the vegetable tasting menu, which was, it appeared, the restaurant’s pearl / preferred offering. For good reasons. Each dish was creative but still refined. Flavors were familiar but elevated. For each of the ~8–10 courses, we received beautiful, composed plates. Nothing felt like it was trying to be a “meat substitute,” which we have found sometimes happens with veggie menus at other restaurants. There was no mushroom “steak,” for example. Rather, things were far more thoughtful. The tomato was at the center of our menu (made sense seasonally). As a highlight, one dish (“The umami flavour of tomatoes”) started with the server handing us a single raw cherry tomato from the restaurant’s own garden. That cherry tomato was so simple and perfect; followed by a beautiful sweet tomato crème caramel dish that was so playful and unique, rich and decadent. Our favorite plate of the evening was another tomato (“Tomato & sun vegetables”), this time dehydrated, then-rehydrated and stuffed with seasonal veggies, swimming in a deep, umami jus. Really special. More detailed descriptions in the photos. The amount of food was just right. We left more than satisfied / full but not sickeningly so, given the somewhat lighter preparations of many dishes. Though, one would not call the meal “light,” especially later courses, which often came dressed with weightier vegetable reductions. Decidedly not meat- or cream-based accompaniments, but not thin veggie water either. The bread, which came with a vegetal and pleasant fig leaf compound butter, was a nice companion for any excess sauce. We felt it was a surprisingly great value for the meal (again, not always the case for veggie menus). Service: The service team was excellent. Professional and tidy, without sacrificing warmth. Not stiff or stuffy. They seemed proud—and almost excited—about the products on each plate they placed. Two people primarily served us—a younger man and a younger blonde woman. Both were so inviting, helpful, knowledgeable, kind, etc. They presented a high level of service (in both English and French) without pretension. The chef also visiting each table to chat. The pacing of the meal was also notably strong. Anne, the sommelier, has been recognized internationally. Appropriately so. The pairings were creative, not boring or safe, the latter of which, again, is something we have experienced with veggie tastings elsewhere. She clearly has not only such a deep knowledge but also an appreciation and love for the local terroir. That showed in the choices and the massive list she curated. Atmosphere: Definitely unique. The red walls combined with the centuries-old woodwork transports you to something. Not sure what exactly. But I did not feel like I was in a sleepy French village in 2026. Much like the cuisine, the atmosphere was creative, playful, unique, and curious but also curated, elegant, beautiful, and special. Just enough outside the ordinary to raise an eyebrow. But, like the food, as soon as you take a bite, the questions stop and it all seems to work. Kind of magical. This restaurant is absolutely wonderful and worthy of all praise and then some. They are doing something different at La Table du Gourmet, and it is working. They showcase great local products in a creative way and a warm but refined setting, providing diners a sense of place and suspending the outside world for a few hours. Please just go.

The food is absolutely delicious, the dishes are incredible, fresh, and expertly prepared. The service is top-notch, the staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is lovely. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back! 😊
