09/08/2026: The food is excellent, and so is the service. We were able to seat our two dogs without any difficulty. The menu offers excellent salads at reasonable prices. It's a shame that halfway through our meal we were disturbed by the next table, four people, one of whom was particularly noisy and disrespectful (repeated farting and burping until we left), and also made racist and inappropriate remarks. It rather spoiled our experience. The owner (I assume) apologized for them, saying he didn't react because they were good customers. It's a shame; at some point, you also have to know when to be firm and not condone such rudeness.

09/08/2026: A wonderful discovery! A warm and friendly welcome from the owner, who was very accommodating. We had our dog with us, and he spontaneously brought him water—a thoughtful touch that was much appreciated. The meal was generous and truly delicious, offering excellent value for money. A place to remember, and one we will gladly return to!

17/03/2026: We had dinner at the Ferme de Cupelin restaurant. It was our first time there since the new owners took over. We were surprised to find a set menu of either 6 or 8 courses. We chose the 6-course option. The food was of good quality and well-presented, but we were a little disappointed with the accompanying jus and sauces, as they lacked flavor. The service was very professional, but we preferred the kindness and friendliness of the previous owners. The staff was a bit rushed. We had a pleasant time overall. In previous years, we were regular customers, but with the new management, we might not return.

14/07/2026: We decided to return to this restaurant after four years, with great enthusiasm and the hope of recapturing the wonderful experience we had previously enjoyed. The ambiance and decor are still as pleasant as ever, but unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of our lunch. We arrived with high expectations and hearty appetites. We left disappointed and far from satisfied. Service: mediocre and clumsy From the outset, we were asked to choose our dessert before we had even started our meal. An unusual practice, but we agreed. We quickly regretted it. When we shared our comments about the dishes, the waitress simply said, "Ah, I see," without apology or questions. The same reaction occurred when we sent the desserts back. This gave us the impression that she herself wasn't convinced of the quality of what she was serving. The starters were decent, but the rest was a disaster. The starters ranged from passable to good. However, the main courses were a real disappointment: • a tough lamb chop with an overly salty, almost inedible sauce; • a beef fillet that was decidedly not tender, even served rare, with a sauce that was once again too reduced and too salty. The side dishes were meager: a small, poorly executed rectangle of dauphine potatoes and a tiny bowl of vegetables meant to be shared between two people. This might have been acceptable if the flavors and freshness had been there, but they weren't. Desserts: a complete failure. The cherries in port served with a "panna cotta" were tasteless, and the panna cotta was a panna cotta in name only. The warm pear and chocolate soufflé was undercooked: you couldn't taste the pear or the chocolate, only the unvaporated alcohol. We left both desserts, as they were simply inedible. A hefty bill for a disappointing experience We paid the full bill, €262, despite not enjoying or finishing our meals. Conclusion The principle of a restaurant is, first and foremost, to provide good food. If you want to treat yourself, in my humble opinion, Le Sérac is not the right choice. Especially since several excellent restaurants can be found in the village: Le Rond de Carotte, Source, or, for a similar price, La Ferme du Cupelin and La Table d’Armante in Saint Nicolas de Véroce. A real shame for the culinary scene of Saint Gervais les Bains. We were hoping for at least a decent meal; unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

22/07/2026: A truly delightful experience in every way. The fish was cooked to a perfection few still know how! If you're in the area, you absolutely must go. Plus, they're open year-round!

15/08/2026: Nothing to complain about. Or rather, yes. Everything was perfect, the setting is delightful, you can see the lake from the terrace. The dishes are very good and offer excellent value for money. The service is impeccable. For those reading this review: This establishment was taken over in 2025 and has been constantly improving ever since; you can go there with your eyes closed. We dined there in August 2026. €150 for 3 people including aperitif, wine, etc. (the works).

25/07/2026: I had lunch yesterday at noon. I ordered a Milanese-style veal cutlet, and the meat was very dry and undercooked. I pointed this out, but the waitress didn't react. After finishing my meal, which I ate anyway, given the lack of interest in my complaint, and after reiterating my dissatisfaction, no one came to see me or ask for an explanation. I don't find this professional. That's why, as a resident of Thonon, I will certainly be spreading the word about this brasserie, even though I've been a customer for many years.

02/08/2026: We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The welcome was very pleasant and attentive. The house cocktail was exquisite, the steak tartare excellent, and the meat was perfect. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Thank you for this lovely experience. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

30/07/2026: I never knew tartare could be this delicious. It was mixed with roasted nuts and leeks, and I enjoyed it with fried onions and balsamic vinegar. The scattered leeks added a vibrant touch and were just the right amount to enhance the flavor of the tartare. The taste and texture were similar to negitoro (minced tuna with green onions) sushi. Is this amount typical for tartare at a French restaurant? Perhaps because I savored it slowly, I felt a sense of relief, like I could eat and eat but still wanted more. I was happy to fill up on tartare. The mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables and sauces, the foie gras appetizer, the main fish dish, and the Friday-only hamburger were all incredibly delicious.
