09/10/2025: We spent the night of October 8, 2025, at the Benat Hotel in Anglet. A wonderful welcome from the owner, who waited for us even though it was supposed to be closing. The room is small but spotlessly clean, with a small but adequate bathroom, a TV, and a super comfortable bed. The toilet is on the landing, except for a small downside, but for one night, it's not a big deal. A nice and pleasant breakfast. What can I say? A pleasant break in a beautiful location with a super friendly and pleasant owner. Géraldine and Fred from Fleurance, Gers.

07/10/2026: We come to this restaurant as a family once a year. Reading the reviews, we noticed comments expressing a similar feeling. The dishes were excellent, despite a slight reservation about the hanger steak, which could have been a little more tender. The welcome, however, was considerably less pleasant. The owner was cold, unsmiling, and unfriendly, whereas her attitude was different with regular customers. We did, however, receive a smile… when it came time to pay the bill. The restaurant experience isn't just about what's on the plate; the quality of the welcome, the friendliness, and the attention paid to customers are integral to the pleasure of dining out. This will be our last visit.

01/10/2026: It is a restaurant that I started to compose this review in my head once I start tasting the dishes. It was exceptional! I was a bit nervous reading the recent comments. But honestly, the culinary skills of the chefs were exceptional! They made me dance while enjoying them. The signature starter was such a surprise - running eggs with bacon and walnuts. What a combination! They gave generous amount of bread, which I can’t help only finish half of them. The beef main was generous portion. Not to mention the amazing creamy smell easily catch your attention. The layered potatoes were stuffed with cheese and bacon. So flavorful! The beef was carefully cooked - rare and tender! The sauce matched with it really well. I can’t help but close my eyes to enjoy it. During having my main, I have already started thinking of coming back. I am too full to order dessert. The red wine was also so so good! It is such a high quality of fine dining. The interior is gorgeous too! People mentioned about the service. To be fair, it is such a busy restaurant, with lots of locals dining there, and with only one waitress. I feel sorry for her. The chef served the starter and main himself to me, and helped me pay. This is how short of staff they are at the moment. I do think they are trying their best to serve well. But for a restaurant like this size, I think they need at least two more staff. With the price for this quality of food and atmosphere, I am more than happy to give them a five star!

14/08/2026: Returning six years later, nothing has changed, or rather, the owner must have trained his staff in his own image because the service is so bad. My 2020 TripAdvisor review is pictured. The food isn't worth the mistreatment, although it's better than it was six years ago.

03/07/2026: Sometimes the best Michelin experiences are completely unexpected. While staying at a hotel in the French Basque Country, I discovered that Ithurria, a one-Michelin-star restaurant, was less than 30 kilometres away. One phone call was all it took to secure a table for the very same evening, despite requesting a vegan tasting menu. Set inside a beautiful building dating back to 1657, the restaurant reflects traditional Basque architecture and charm. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and relaxed - never overly formal or intimidating, as Michelin-starred restaurants are sometimes perceived to be. The food was exceptional. Every dish showcased not only incredible flavours but also meticulous attention to detail, with each plate looking like a piece of art. The seven-course tasting menu took me on a journey through the region, highlighting the very best local and seasonal ingredients. For the first time, I also chose a non-alcoholic wine pairing, and it completely exceeded my expectations. For years, my options at fine dining restaurants were usually limited to Coca-Cola or water. This time, I was served beautifully selected non-alcoholic wines that elevated every course and made the experience feel complete. The seven-course vegan tasting menu was €135, while the three-course non-alcoholic wine pairing cost €35. An absolutely wonderful dining experience.

13/05/2026: A wonderful stay at this family-run hotel, in a setting that is equally charming. The staff were incredibly attentive and the services were of very high quality. The gourmet dinner with wine pairing was excellent. We will be back!

22/09/2026: I find this place ideal in any situation, whether with family or as a couple. The service is fast and the servers are super friendly. There is a great selection, which I find fantastic when you are as picky as I am, and the prices are really affordable.

21/09/2026: We had an excellent experience at this restaurant. Exceptional service: speed, helpfulness, and friendliness. The meal was very good. I highly recommend it. If you want to avoid a long wait, arrive when they open.
