04/06/2026: We came to the Basque Country for our honeymoon, as it's where we got engaged. We arrived late in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and went to the first place we saw. We know it's almost impossible to find a bad place to eat in this region anyway. However, we didn't expect this place to completely exceed our expectations. The staff was warm and welcoming from arrival to departure. We ordered a starter and a main course, but we couldn't resist their desserts. Every bite was perfect. The next day, we couldn't stop thinking about Bar Basque. We returned the following night. We were greeted a second time by the staff and then tried the other dishes they had on offer. Again, the food was incredible. I think it might be the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience first-class hospitality and delicious food. Thank you all for being part of our honeymoon. We'll be back!

13/05/2026: A fantastic stop on the Camino de Santiago! I received a very warm welcome at the Denena hostel. The room was comfortable, with a lovely little terrace and even a hammock, perfect for relaxing after a walk. The meal tray they offered (since the restaurant is closed on Tuesday evenings) was an excellent and much-appreciated idea. A big thank you to the owners for their kindness and hospitality. I highly recommend it and will gladly return! Marion

01/06/2026: Great restaurant. The setting is lovely. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is excellent, made with quality ingredients. It's perfect for lunch when you're working! The service is quick and allows you to relax without having to wait long for your food.

09/05/2026: A 40-minute wait to be acknowledged, then another 20 minutes for our order to be taken. The server only took our drinks because the hot food would arrive later, only for them to stop serving hot food 5 minutes later when we wanted to order.

24/04/2026: We had lunch on the terrace in beautiful sunshine, plenty of room for the stroller, good value for money, we had a burger and the axoa (daily special), nice restaurant

10/06/2026: A magical place just outside Saint-Jean-de-Luz - top-notch service, exquisite food. Spacious and tastefully decorated room.

02/05/2026: Very disappointed with this place. From the aperitif, where I was brought a vermouth instead of a Negroni without being told, accompanied by a single potato chip stuck in a kernel of corn. The dishes were good but ridiculously small on the plate. The coffee was brought without sugar, accompanied by three small pieces of chocolate, for two people. And the bill was presented even though they knew it was a gift. I won't be going back.

05/05/2026: A €37 set menu for a ribeye steak to share, accompanied by three lettuce leaves and three fries. I left still hungry. Excessive value for money.

03/05/2026: Nice and friendly place. Unfortunately, the system wasn't explained to us, so we ended up paying an extra €10 per person for a cider (just a small glass). A little more courtesy from the manager would have been appreciated. She wasn't very accommodating; for a hen party table of 12 people costing €410, we were refused a digestif. A shame.

15/05/2026: A pleasant overnight stay; the room was clean and renovated, however, we could hear the footsteps of the neighbors. I would have preferred a local dish in the set menu, instead of the knackwurst-style sausages. The welcome and service were friendly.

01/06/2026: We received a very warm welcome, the service was efficient, and it's the food that makes the trip worthwhile, in addition to the view. The mojito was fantastic, the homemade calamari fritters were delicious—even my wife ate them, which she doesn't usually like—the pork was incredibly tender, the fish was cooked to perfection, and the desserts were sublime. We have absolutely no complaints; keep up the good work!

13/05/2026: A wonderful stay at this family-run hotel, in a setting that is equally charming. The staff were incredibly attentive and the services were of very high quality. The gourmet dinner with wine pairing was excellent. We will be back!
