17/09/2026: Although we were there during the off-season, we still managed to chat with the people at the refuge and buy some beer (€6 per beer, and no free water available, but it's a remote area, so not surprising, but something to bring). There are bivouac sites nearby with a beautiful view. Unfortunately, we weren't lucky enough to see any ibex.

03/09/2026: I was very disappointed by this experience, especially considering the very positive reviews. I completely understand the constraints of a mountain refuge: no running water, complicated supplies, vegetarian meals, etc. But that doesn't excuse everything. The outdoor facilities are in very poor condition. We were asked to leave our bags in containers outside, which is understandable, except that these containers were completely broken, battered, and full of holes. What happens if it rains during the night? You could easily end up with all your belongings soaked. Meals are eaten outside when the group is large, which I can understand. But when it rains, we're supposed to eat under a completely torn and badly damaged canvas. We can accept the constraints of a mountain refuge without being forced to eat in the rain. Regarding the meals, I have nothing against vegetarianism, but I simply didn't find them tasty. Yet there are plenty of good vegetarian meals available in France. I can understand the dry toilets, but they still need to be properly maintained. During our visit, the cleanliness left much to be desired. Finally, I sometimes feel that the refuge takes advantage of its location: on the Platé Desert, there aren't really any alternatives, and hikers are practically forced to pass through. Given the price, I think the service offered by the French Alpine Club really deserves improvement. I'm obviously not asking for the comfort of a hotel, but a minimum level of maintenance, cleanliness, and well-maintained facilities seems perfectly reasonable.

07/07/2026: Goûte (Rue Mandar) is the perfect Paris neighborhood wine bar. The vibe is cool, cozy, and low-lit—ideal for a date night or catching up with friends. Their natural wine selection is incredible (you can browse the shelves yourself), and the staff are super friendly and passionate without any pretension. Pair your glass with their fantastic seasonal small plates that the chef updates very frequently—the hummus and compte are must-orders. It gets lively fast, so arrive early. Can’t wait to go back!

09/03/2026: The hotel lost my reservation, which I only discovered one week before arrival during peak season. I had already paid a €130 deposit 4 months prior. The deposit was eventually refunded, but being left without accommodation at such short notice created an extremely stressful situation and forced me to find last-minute lodging elsewhere at a much higher price. Hotel Le Dahu was of no help, despite this being their error. I recommend avoiding them.

03/09/2025: Arriving at 8:30 PM without a reservation, we were greeted by the manager who informed us that there was only one dish available (fondue, and only served outside). I should point out that there were only two people in the restaurant! Having come from another region for a sporting event, I strongly advise against going there!

30/08/2026: An interesting visit, but not very visually appealing...

26/08/2026: It’s a super phenomenal French Fromage shops with their homemade cheeses, and cheeses from other countries. Most of them have nice quality but a bit way more expensive than others. I would recommend Comte 18months here because it’s not too salty with delicately nutty flavor. It’s not too creamy but still acceptable. A bit milky. Others are not that worthy. If you pass by you definitely need to pay a visit for their decorations. They even store lotta cheese wheel in the basement and you can see them from the semi-transparent glass on the floor.

03/08/2026: With all the beautiful, clean places around the lake where you can eat well, avoid this one at all costs!!! I used to come to La Seiche with the children for a few years; it was lovely. There was a pool table, darts, a ping-pong table, well-cared-for animals, a ball pit, and a few arcade games. Now everything has been removed, and it's completely run-down. Children have to watch where they walk in sandals because the ground is covered in cigarette butts, broken glass, and dog excrement (see photos). Dogs roam freely, not even on leashes, while people are eating and there are children around. They've closed off the entire upper floor and all the space behind the building, which means it fills up very quickly. A poor pony in the middle of all this is heartbreaking for everyone. The dance floor where we used to play with the kids now costs 5 euros per person... in short, we imagined this place would improve over time given its potential, but in the end, it's quite the opposite. We won't be going back until there's a new owner. The waiter, though a bit older, still makes great cocktails.

31/07/2026: The meal was okay, but the value for money was really poor. The rice wasn't cooked enough, the meat was disappointing, and the dishes arrived cold. Tip: Always ask for a receipt or ticket that matches what you pay. At the end of the evening, I returned the credit card they used to pay for the meals. They told me there was no money left on it. However, after checking, there was still €50 on the card. This situation seemed very suspicious to me, especially since I'm not the first person to report this type of problem.

27/08/2026: A bill rip-off, food worthy of a bad school cafeteria, and slow service: avoid at all costs! We had fish and chips and two burgers. The fish and chips was okay. However, the €20 burgers were a disaster: the buns were as hard as crackers, as if they'd been left in the oven for too long. Then, we weren't asked how we wanted our steaks cooked. I asked for them rare anyway. They came back... well-done! But cooked like they'd been microwaved. Rubbery, dense, and overcooked. At €21, it's outrageous. We felt completely ripped off. But that's not all. We paid, left, and thought, "That's strange, it's still expensive." We turned around and asked for a breakdown. The waitress who served us and took our payment told us it wasn't possible to get a receipt. I said, "It's easy, just take the menu and do the bill." She called her manager. He sulked and gave her a dirty look. Well, yes, they secretly charged us 8 euros extra for two beers. Outrageous. Frankly, they're not good in the kitchen and they have dishonest practices at the till. Read other reviews; you'll see that other people have had the same experience. We don't recommend it; quite the opposite. Avoid it.

22/08/2026: We ordered four pizzas to take away and during the 30-minute wait we had an aperitif on the terrace. The pizzas were very good and generously topped. I recommend it.

07/07/2026: We was travelling through Europe on our motorbikes found this hotel by luck booked for one night ended up staying 3 nights absolutely beautiful hotel staff where amazing food was 10/10 a very rare find a must on anyone's bucket list best hotel in all the years travelling Europe will make it a regular every year well done 👏

11/08/2026: I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here. I had le flan ratatouille with salad. It was absolutely delicious. My daughter had the chicken caesar salad and she was very happy with it. We felt welcomed by staff and the value for money was exceptional. We will return again soon.
