21/05/2026: Chez Chilo succeeds mainly in demonstrating that a high price can perfectly coexist with a very ordinary experience. Between a dark dining room, soulless decor, and a welcome that feels intrusive, the setting unfortunately does nothing to redeem it. The dishes themselves remain desperately mediocre considering the prices charged: little flavor, little originality, and above all, no justification for the advertised price. You leave with the impression of having paid the bill at a fine restaurant for an experience that never rises above the level of a run-of-the-mill brasserie.

30/09/2026: I came for lunch and was unpleasantly surprised to find a manager who humiliated her employees in a completely unacceptable way. I've never seen anything like it. If you treat customers as badly as your employees, your restaurant won't survive. A very bad experience! I do not recommend it.

05/10/2026: We stumbled upon this place for lunch on a Sunday (very few restaurants were open), and it was an excellent find! The staff were incredibly welcoming, and having lunch on the terrace was very pleasant, even though it's in a shopping area. We enjoyed an excellent citrus sangria as an aperitif. We savored a grilled sea bream with plancha-cooked vegetables – perfectly cooked, fresh, and homemade! The service was quick and the atmosphere very friendly. Since the owners are from the Arcachon Basin, they even offer their oysters. I almost forgot to mention that their ice cream is excellent, and even the restrooms are beautiful... A place I highly recommend.

30/09/2026: Bocata was one of my favorite coffee stops in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. I had the best noisette there — beautifully made, smooth, rich, and just perfect. It became one of those little places I was genuinely happy to return to. Wonderful coffee, a lovely atmosphere, and such a memorable part of my time in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. I would absolutely come back. ☕️❤️

08/09/2026: Delicious! The food was flavorful and plentiful, reasonably priced, and the service was friendly and welcoming. We ordered the daily special (minced beef with basil and lightly spiced fried rice) and the Bahn Mi pork dumplings. What a treat! Thank you again for recommending the cookie, which lived up to our expectations! If you're ever in the area, don't hesitate, go for it!

05/05/2026: The hotel is beautifully situated with well kept gardens and a great view of the mountains. Very quiet. The staff team were warm, helpful and efficient. Breakfast was very good and there was great cooking at dinner.

06/05/2026: Stayed at Hôtel Berria and had a great experience. The location is excellent—set amidst the lush, green surroundings of Hasparren, offering a peaceful atmosphere while still feeling well connected. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. The food was a highlight, with delicious Basque flavors that felt authentic and thoughtfully prepared. A lovely place to relax and truly enjoy the stay.

22/03/2026: A beautifully decorated room, with many thoughtful touches upon arrival (Basque cake, complimentary drinks in the refrigerator). The peaceful Basque countryside. A superb breakfast with the chef personally bringing the eggs and bacon – very classy!

20/05/2026: Hotel with excellent value for money. Friendly and welcoming staff. Spacious room, comfortable bed, unbeatable price in Sare this time of year. The only downside is that you should leave the doors to the corridor leading to the rooms open (they are closed by the staff) otherwise they slam shut every time someone passes by.

23/08/2026: My partner and I came two nights in a row to have a drink and play a few games. The first night was very good, with a very competent waitress. She overheard us talking about rugby and immediately went to change the TV channel to rugby and served us Rose des Glaces cocktails, which I thoroughly enjoyed for their flavor and refreshing taste, thanks to the abundance of crushed ice. The waitress was impeccable and highly competent. The second evening, Saturday, August 22nd, it wasn't the same waitress, who was rather unpleasant. So I ordered the same cocktail as the night before, but with a different ratio: no crushed ice, just ice cubes, and definitely not too much. For the second order, I asked for the same cocktail again, but with crushed ice. She sighed at first, then complied, adding crushed ice, but again, not too much ice. The bartender was very economical with the ice cubes... Times are tough, but still... Oh yes, I forgot, three drinks maximum. You never know, it might boost the bar's profits for the evening, or we'd be heading for disaster... We still managed to play roulette as we wanted, despite two of the five or six screens being off... Phew, the bar next door was actually in the mood to work...

12/10/2026: An excellent restaurant in Bidart! We had a very pleasant time at La Cucaracha. The rib-eye steak was simply excellent, cooked to perfection. The quality of the ingredients is evident, and it shows in the food. The service is particularly pleasant, attentive, and professional, with a genuine sense of hospitality. A very welcome touch: there's no pressure to order more, which makes the experience all the more enjoyable. As for desserts, a special mention goes to the homemade baba, which was delicious, accompanied by an excellent rum that perfectly complemented the dish. The prices are quite reasonable; desserts under €10 are becoming rare! Add to that a very pleasant setting, and you have a restaurant we wholeheartedly recommend. A wonderful experience, good food, and the kind of service we love. We will gladly return!
