02/08/2026: Huge disappointment at this establishment, which we used to frequent for its cuisine, the freshness of its seafood, and the charm of the castle district. Arriving at 12:30 pm, I was surprised to see that half the terrace had disappeared, replaced by sun loungers, and that, in the middle of tourist season, few tables were occupied. Another surprise was the menu, which had changed drastically and shrunk considerably. We still managed to choose, however: stuffed mussels for starters, scallops for my husband, and penne with prawns for me (it smelled like frozen food, but oh well...). Faced with such changes, I asked the waitress if the restaurant had changed owners; the answer was yes, six months prior. Our aperitifs arrived, and half an hour later, the waitress informed me that they were out of penne but offered me grilled prawns with parsley and garlic, served with rice. Sold, I accept the exchange. The starter arrives, disappointment: the stuffed mussels are no longer the large ones they used to be, but tiny Bouchot mussels, and what's more, they're way overcooked. Another good half hour has passed since the announcement that the penne was out of pasta... Suddenly, a young waiter is sent to tell me that there are no more prawns! You'd think it was a joke! Unfortunately not. The waitress returns so I can choose something else. Nothing appeals to me; I'm convinced everything is frozen, lol, proof being that it's not scallop season. So I choose a plate of calamari alla Romana and a plate of Serrano ham. The calamari arrives, it's tasteless, and the accompanying aioli has no flavor whatsoever and is almost mealy! The Serrano ham is low-grade, the same you find in the supermarket, tasteless. The scallop dish is okay. We declined dessert, that's fine! At no point did a manager come to apologize or explain anything, nothing! The owners prefer to send the employees! Deplorable! At this rate, I think the restaurant's future is compromised. What a shame. When the bill arrived, they offered us the aperitifs, mussels, calamari, and ham; we only paid for the glasses of wine and the scallops. But we won't be back. Best of luck to the staff going forward.

01/08/2026: We arrived and sat down to enjoy a glass of wine. While we were seated on an empty terrace, the waitress told us she couldn't serve us because they were full. We asked if we could go to the bar and order there, and she said it was full too. She said we could stay seated without ordering anything... but that the place was full. We didn't understand the situation, to be honest. Well... we went without wine... and they didn't charge us for it... we'll find another place. Anyway, they must have money to burn.

31/07/2026: We arrived and were served immediately. Although it was a bit late, they didn't make a fuss and were very attentive the whole time. The food was good and there were plenty of options for both adults and children. A great place to stop for a break and recharge.

26/07/2026: The setting and dining room aren't the establishment's strong points, but the portions are generous and of good quality. The service is efficient, warm, and genuine. Good value for money.

02/08/2026: We've been coming to this place for a very long time, and the welcome, the food, the cocktails, the staff—everything is top-notch, from breakfast to aperitifs, lunch, or evening drinks. Never disappointed, always a real pleasure. I recommend it 1000%!

22/07/2026: We went there for their all-you-can-eat rib-eye dinner and it was absolutely delicious! The cooking was perfect, the taste was amazing, and the service was top-notch! I highly recommend it! A wonderful discovery that we will definitely return to.

20/05/2026: Hotel with excellent value for money. Friendly and welcoming staff. Spacious room, comfortable bed, unbeatable price in Sare this time of year. The only downside is that you should leave the doors to the corridor leading to the rooms open (they are closed by the staff) otherwise they slam shut every time someone passes by.

20/01/2026: An absolute top recommendation! Superb hospitality and outstanding, personalized service in all areas. Modern Basque ambiance. Quiet location on the edge of the picturesque village, with numerous impressive hikes accessible both directly from the hotel and within easy driving distance. The Atlantic coast (St.-Jean-de-Luz!) is also reachable in about 30-40 minutes. Large pool. Excellent cuisine (vegetarian menus with fish instead of meat are available; purely vegetarian or vegan options are difficult).

07/08/2026: Absolutely delicious waffles! Very generous with the toppings, a real whole-wheat batter, not full of air like so many others. We ordered the mature waffle, the Nutella waffle, the Nutella whipped cream waffle, the Smarty Nutella waffle, and the banana waffle—we weren't disappointed! Truly the best waffle of my life!!

06/08/2026: After paying €25 for waffles, the waitress refused to serve us water. Avoid this place.

20/07/2026: They can't even be bothered to collect the 50cl deposit cups, yet they're handing them out to others right in front of me. It's pure dishonesty, just to squeeze out a euro every time. You really think people are idiots. This deserves to be reported immediately. Luckily, it's not like this everywhere in France.

19/07/2026: Be careful during the Bayonne Festival. The bar does charge a deposit for the recycled glass when you order a drink, but refuses to refund it when you ask for your deposit back.

11/07/2026: Beautiful decor. Excellent service. Plenty of choice with quality products in the shop and café. Very clean place.

05/07/2026: The service was good, however, the price of the open-faced sandwiches is far too high considering their quality and especially the small portion size. At that price, one would expect a more substantial meal than a simple open-faced sandwich and three bagged lettuce leaves. If you're hungry and looking for a place to eat, I advise you to look elsewhere.

22/07/2026: Back in 2026, the quality is still there. Well-prepared, very fresh local produce, a typical menu, a warm atmosphere, and highly professional, attentive service. Just the kind of place we love, near Les Halles.

22/07/2026: A truly wonderful experience! The tapas were excellent, made with fresh, perfectly cooked ingredients. The baby squid were tender and flavorful, the razor clams were perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of garlic, and the txistorra fritters were crispy on the outside while remaining soft on the inside. The presentation of the dishes was elegant and generous. The atmosphere on the terrace is pleasant, ideal for sharing a convivial moment over a delicious meal. The service was friendly and efficient. A place that lives up to its reputation!
