26/07/2026: Arrived at 12:13 PM. The service was impeccable from the start. Despite the very busy crowd for this Sunday lunchtime, we were seated as soon as we arrived. I had booked three days in advance, and I highly recommend it because the Place du Château is very popular. Our aperitifs arrived in less than five minutes for the six of us. No complaints whatsoever; we were served small olives with them. The servers were efficient and very pleasant to chat with. Thank you to them for this warm welcome. (With the owner's watchful eye.) At 12:30 PM, we ordered our meals. At 12:50 PM, we were served, and some lovely appetizers arrived. I found the Thai shrimp had too many seeds and lacked a little something extra, a flavor to enhance the dish and give it a bit of something, perhaps a sauce... The salmon dish was apparently good, and the burrata was the same. 1:20 PM, the main course was served. My mountain burger (double) was delicious. The butcher-style patties were great, making for a hearty and filling burger. A little more salad would have been nice, but otherwise, the portion size was pretty good. The fish of the day was delicious (I'll keep the fish of the day a secret for you to discover). It was cooked absolutely perfectly, and they enjoyed the meal. The half duck breast was good and well-cooked; the rest of the dish complemented it well. The homemade cordon bleu was good. In fact, our plates are empty! 1:50 PM, the desserts arrived. They were just right, nothing to complain about, perfect for rounding off the meal. Overall, it was a bit noisy, but that's to be expected. The prices were a little high (just a little), and the waiter was a bit unbalanced, but it was quite a rush.

21/05/2026: Cheval Rouge Restaurant - This was great. We finished visiting Chateau Villandry, and had a 1 hour drive ahead to Saumur. As we headed out of town, we realized it might be nice to eat here before we continue. It was a rainy and blustery day, so let's stop. We were not disappointed. A nice, quiet stop. The food was just what we wanted. Since arriving in France, seems every place is serving "tourist" portions, meaning more than we can eat to the detriment of quality. Cheval Rouge was just the right amount with the wonderful French flavors. Service was quiet and efficient. A good decision to stop here. Try the Lamb stew.

18/05/2026: Old room, hair dryer not working, renovation badly needed. As for the positives - it was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was alright.

30/05/2026: Excellent restaurant! The menu offers just the right amount of choice, with high-quality ingredients. The prices are reasonable, and the welcome and service are very pleasant. A big bonus is the veranda overlooking the water and the ducks; the setting is superb.

18/07/2026: The best pizzas I've had in years! The dough is simply incredible, and this couple who run the restaurant go out of their way to make you happy! If you're passing by like we were before the Bodin's show, stop by and try their pizzas. And I haven't even mentioned the low price considering the size and quality.

05/07/2026: During a weekend in DESCARTES, we made a quick stop at Pizzeria Pinocchio where we received a very warm welcome and the pizzas were excellent.

21/07/2026: We came for dinner as a group of four on a Monday evening. The welcome was warm and the service quick. We especially appreciate the waiter with the afro, who was very smiley and friendly, unlike his male colleague with short hair who needs to brush up on his basics and his lack of professionalism. As for the food, the pizzas are generously topped and the quality/price ratio is very good. The desserts are also substantial, however, the chocolate lava cake recipe could be improved. Regarding the location, you can eat inside or outside on the square. The only downside to the terrace is clearly the presence of wasps, which, despite the traps, are very numerous. Unfortunately, one of us was stung during the meal... Beware if you are allergic...

20/07/2026: A delicious, unpretentious Italian restaurant that you'll gladly return to. The calm atmosphere is perfect for enjoying the company of your companion. The food is excellent, the service is quick, and the value for money is outstanding. A classic restaurant where they know what they're doing!

04/04/2026: A great neighborhood eatery! It's simple and efficient. The dishes aren't very elaborate, but that's not what you'd expect, and the prices are very reasonable. Special mention for the desserts, especially the homemade tarts—they're delicious! The owners are very friendly and know all their regular customers. It has a relaxed, informal atmosphere: you serve yourself the tarts and bring your plates back to the counter if you want to help. Very pleasant and lively.

03/08/2026: On my parents' recommendation, we went as a family for a weekend in the area. We weren't disappointed. The menu was excellent, the terrace under the vines was lovely, and the interior rooms (including the bar) were beautiful. The service was smooth and friendly. Well done!

You'll find a friendly, relaxed, and welcoming local atmosphere, maintained by a kind family. The food is impeccable, and in season, the back terrace offers a touch of the south, making you want to spend the afternoon there. The walls of this inn resonate with the generations of winemakers who shaped the surrounding vineyards, and you can still find their entire wine selection on the restaurant's shelves. What more could you ask for?
