23/05/2026: A very bad experience. We arrived around 9:20 a.m., just after opening, and weren't served until 10:40 a.m., even though the restaurant was practically empty. And all that for three half-baguettes with scrambled eggs. We had ordered three brunch bread/scrambled egg dishes, but the eggs released a lot of water, which was really unpleasant. An elderly English couple sitting next to us didn't understand the menu or the service, and the staff made no effort to help them or translate. I had to explain it myself. We had also ordered two iced teas, but we received two grenadine syrups. Then, when we heard the kitchen opening, we realized the waitress didn't even know what iced tea was and just served a random drink. I absolutely do not recommend this establishment.

04/06/2026: It's very basic but clean. Tiny bathroom and a few funny smells from time to time.Lots of rules, breakfast has to be ordered the day before. There is very little else in the village so you need a car to be able to get around and eat out etc.

30/08/2026: For several weeks now, this fast food place seems to be going downhill. The fries are barely cooked, orders aren't being followed, and today we had to go and check ourselves if our takeout order was on the counter because no one was calling the order number.

12/07/2026: We had a lovely stay at Domaine de la Tortinière overall. The property is beautiful, well maintained, and conveniently located near major roads, making it an excellent base for exploring the Loire Valley. Our room was comfortable, clean, and well appointed, and the air conditioning worked exceptionally well during the summer heat. The pool was a great place to relax, and the staff throughout the hotel were friendly and professional. A couple of minor inconveniences stood out during our stay. The television did not have any local channels or music available which made the TV unusable. On one evening, the digestif cabinet was locked and staff could not locate the key, delaying bar service and giving the impression of some disorganization. To his credit, the bartender went the extra mile to find an alternative bottle in the cellar, even though it wasn’t the cognac I had originally selected. Unfortunately, the hotel’s BBQ evening significantly impacted our stay. The meal was served buffet-style from an outdoor grill. I understand that beef is often served much rarer in France than in other countries, and that is not an issue in itself. However, the beef that evening was exceptionally blue, even by French standards. Because we were among the last diners, much of the food had also been sitting out for quite some time. Myself and several other guests developed what appeared to be food poisoning afterward. We were sick throughout the night, and it effectively derailed the remainder of our weekend. We were unable to enjoy the activities and sightseeing we had planned for the following day. When we informed the hotel, the night staff kindly provided extra water, tea, and other supplies when we asked, which was appreciated. However, there was little follow-up afterward. I had expected management to proactively check on us and the other guests who attended the BBQ, investigate the situation, and take greater ownership of the incident. The handling of compensation was also disappointing. No refund or adjustment was initially offered. When I pointed out to the manager that we had missed the prepaid breakfast because we were ill, she offered to credit the bar charges instead, since breakfast had already been paid for. When it became clear that no additional compensation was being considered, I asked who I could speak with about escalating the matter. Only then was a broader refund offered. One additional concern was hygiene. The downstairs restroom near the restaurant was out of hand soap for several days. While this may seem like a small detail, particularly in light of the food-related illnesses, it suggested that greater attention to cleanliness and sanitation would be beneficial. Despite this experience, there is a great deal to like about the hotel. The accommodations, grounds, pool, and overall service were excellent. My hope is that management places more emphasis on food safety, cleanliness, and responding proactively when potential health issues arise. With those improvements, this would easily be a five-star property.

06/07/2026: Beautiful pool, friendly team (especially the night concierge) and an excellent breakfast. We had the suite at the top which was perfect for our young family (kids between 2 and 6). No lift, but who cares when you're staying in such a fine place? And the décor was perfect, bathrooms absolutely brand new and rooms immaculate, which is no mean feat in such a twisted old building. Bravo, and thanks for having us.

25/08/2026: I came to have a drink with friends, and imagine my surprise when it came time to pay for my lemonade! Having ordered a 50cl glass, I was paying twice for the lemonade listed on the menu: €7.30 for a glass of lemonade and syrup is a bit pricey, and it would have been more customer-friendly to mention this when ordering.

06/08/2026: The perfect spot in the center of Tours. Generous and well-prepared dishes and salads, and homemade desserts worthy of a pastry chef. The express lunchtime deal (dish of the day + dessert of the day for €17.90) is unbeatable; I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. And the service was impeccable! Highly recommended!

13/08/2026: Hello, I gave one star because I felt I had to to share this review. It's the first time in my life I've ever been in such a disgusting place 🤮🤮. The kitchen walls and ceiling are brown. Having made a mistake with Google Maps, I went around to the back of this pizzeria and saw a man smoking a joint. Thinking he was there to clean, well, no, he was shaping a pizza 🍕 and of course, without washing his hands... Most of the customers were getting takeout, which makes sense now given the state of the dining area, which is basically a garbage dump... Of course, I didn't eat anything, claiming I was on an urgent call. I value my life, and especially the lives of my children...

25/09/2026: The strawberry tarts are spectacular. They're so good I had to order them again the next morning! We ordered two pain au chocolat, which we call napolitanas in Spanish, and they were also very good with a perfect texture.

23/09/2026: I'm leaving this review after my visit today. The manager is very friendly and helpful; however, the person who served me was extremely unpleasant. It's a real shame, as I don't usually leave reviews, but I was very disappointed.
