27/10/2025: Lunch break. Sandwich, pan bagnat, and pissaladière. The ham club sandwich was very good, the pan bagnat was a bit lacking in mayonnaise or other sauce, but the size was good, refreshing, and the product was fresh. The pissaladière was good, but not strong enough with the anchovies for those who like it strong. Very reasonable price: €14 for a quick bite for three. Average, courteous welcome, no more or less.

23/03/2026: Le Canon Restaurant Attracted by particularly glowing reviews, we went to this establishment with high expectations, which were unfortunately quickly dashed. Upon entering the dining room, a strong smell of cooking oil pervaded the air. The decor, in an old-fashioned, not to say outdated, bistro style, proved rather ordinary, lacking any real charm or comfort. The waiter, for his part, was distant, condescending, and out of step with the expected level of service. He went on at length to explain the details of each dish, which were nevertheless listed on the chalkboard. Another observation: there was no wine list; we had to choose with the waiter. In the kitchen, the disappointment continued. The calf's head, overcooked, had an unpleasant texture, like "smashed, charred slug." The artichoke, bland, was served with an excessively salty and acidic sauce. The main courses did not improve matters: a very small portion of bland fish, unremarkable lamb, and a caillette (a type of sausage) that was both overcooked and excessively salty. This last dish, pointed out from the very first bite, was removed at my request, without any alternative being offered. The dessert (orange tart) proved particularly acidic, to the point of being inedible (only the pastry – homemade? – was palatable). The "chef," apparently, doesn't taste his "creations," dishes that vainly strive for sophistication and refinement. The service was also subpar: cutlery wasn't replaced between courses, and paper napkins were used. Finally, the bill of €156 was not adjusted despite the uneaten dish, accompanied by a rather inelegant remark: "Everyone ate it except you." This response, unfortunately, reflects the general atmosphere: unfriendly and pretentious. In summary, a particularly disappointing – even unpleasant – experience, both in terms of food and service.

27/01/2026: Passing through Cagnes-sur-Mer, I stopped at La Bergerie and had two crêpes. They were good, well-made, and served in a pleasant setting, especially by the sea. The place is nice for a relaxing break. A good spot for a crêpe without any fuss.

14/03/2026: Here on the terrace, many years ago, very early one beautiful summer morning, I drank the best café au lait of my life. The lovely square across the street was still deserted, the sun was just rising, and it was somehow magical. That was about 25 years ago, and unfortunately, I haven't been back since. But whenever I drink a good coffee, anywhere in the world, I often think back to that beautiful spot.

03/03/2026: The service was interminable despite several reminders and a well-intentioned waitress who was running around everywhere… Never mind, the meat was barely fresh and the fries were cheap, mass-produced: "home cooking"? Who are they kidding?! (I won't bore you with the details of my evening in the restroom, which only confirmed my doubts about the ribeye). To top it all off, I had to give up on dessert because of the long wait, even though I'd ordered it at the beginning of the meal… And when it came time to pay, a large man behind the bar curtly pointed out that it's clearly stated everywhere that they don't accept credit cards (!): in short, it's unacceptable, and I don't recommend this place, despite its prime location… So, avoid it. You've been warned!

23/12/2025: Excellent ice cream! A wide selection of flavors, original and very tasty. The ice creams are generous and high quality. A real treat every time, a great place in La Gaude 🍦✨

21/12/2025: The Comté cheese log was fantastic, and above all, the service was absolutely perfect, the kind of welcome you wish you could get from every shopkeeper... ✨✨✨✨✨

28/03/2026: Fantastic dinner with friends at Le Catalan! We thoroughly enjoyed the mortadella and pistachio pizza as a starter, and the young rooster was excellent! I recommend the flan for dessert; the service was top-notch.

23/03/2026: The food was decent and the service was adequate. The downside was that two dishes, advertised at a certain price (€), were charged at a higher price (€€)! Then, two glasses of white wine we ordered were also overpriced (€€) when the bill arrived. We noticed this and reported it 🤔🫤. While the wines were indeed discounted, the server didn't really take responsibility, even though four of us heard it. The explanation from a manager was that the dish is only served at lunchtime. So, in this case, communication with the staff is crucial to inform customers and not wait until the bill arrives to address this type of inconvenience, which is detrimental to the customer(s) 😡

03/01/2026: Passing by, I decided to try their takeaway pizzas, and I absolutely loved the countryside—it's fantastic! I recommend everyone who passes by do the same; you'll love it! I'll try to eat in and sample some of their other dishes, which look just as good as their pizzas.
