So I had to leave it with them. Frankly, I think it's outrageous and quite shameful for a business not to be able to give proper change. It's a shame, because the experience could have been much better without this problem.

After a recent experience at a restaurant claiming to be "bistronomic," I can say one thing: some people should pay a visit to Courtepaille and take notes! Here, you'll find generous portions, perfectly cooked meats, satisfying serving sizes, and above all, a smiling, kind, and pleasant staff. The food is excellent, you leave satisfied, and most importantly, with the feeling that you got your money's worth. The value for money is truly excellent. Ultimately, a high bill and a "bistronomic" label don't guarantee a better experience. So, between going back to D4 or eating at Courtepaille, my choice is easy: next time, I'd much rather eat at four Courtepaille restaurants than just one D4! 😂 Keep it up: great food, generous portions, perfectly cooked dishes, and friendly service. Sometimes, that's all we ask of a restaurant for a wonderful experience. ❤️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well deserved!

16/05/2026: The ordering process was very smooth and the staff was incredibly kind. We had a great meal and the vibe of the restaurant was very enjoyable. I look forward to returning and trying some of the other dishes. It is a fantastic place for anyone who wants a nice and easy dining experience.

14/08/2026: June 2026. Over an hour's wait to be served. My carpaccio was fine, but my friend's meat, ordered medium-rare, arrived overcooked. As for the fries, we got the very last bits (tiny and almost burnt). We mentioned this to the owner, who offered to give us a free aperitif on our next visit. But there won't be a next visit.

12/09/2026: Excellent steakhouse! The meats are flavorful and cooked to perfection. A cooking guide is also available at the end of the menu to help you make the best choice. The owner is very friendly, professional, and welcoming. Finally, the wood-fired cooking adds a warm atmosphere throughout the meal. Special mention for the tenderloin steak!

19/08/2026: Although the schedule indicated closing time was 2:15 PM (you can check), we were turned away at 2:00 PM. Despite our surprise and good faith, the waiter curtly informed us that the kitchen was closed. A quick glance at the two sneering cooks, leaning on the serving hatch, confirmed his refusal to serve us. Not a word of apology, sympathy, or any attempt to make us feel welcome. The two cooks, with arrogant and mocking smiles, glared at us, pleased to see us leave slightly disappointed and annoyed. I'm already expecting the kindly comment from a manager, apologizing and expressing his regret over this unfortunate incident, inviting me to contact him directly via email, as he does for every disappointment. A superficial gesture of goodwill, utterly ineffective in addressing the problems reported by dissatisfied customers. This restaurant is not up to Pau's culinary standards and simply deserves to be shut down. I strongly advise against going there. PS: To the manager, there's no point in apologizing; the damage is done. To properly identify the staff involved, I visited on August 19, 2026, at 1:55 PM.
